I laughed way to friggin hard at the barrel roll, my wife finally came in the office to make sure I was ok. I'm glad you didn't get more seriously hurt.
My man. 3 years later and you've come back to the basement! That was I think the first video I watched. Found another use for all the buckets too! Great job. And lucky that your barrel role moment doesn't end up like a live leak video posted on a Laotian basket weaving forum.
I don’t know 2% of what you know about concrete so no criticisms there. But I know plenty about videography and you are an excellent host and the editing and overall production is killer. I would assume this channel has 100k subs. A very rare good recommendation from the algorithm. Great video brother and good work on the project.
It’s always good to see someone do something like this because hard head people like me are like, ya, I can do that and save some money. But in my experience, having poured out a lot of concrete, subbing out a line pump and having the ready mix delivered will give you better mud and more time to polish it up. It really is worth the extra money. Probably double the cost of this job but 5 times better quality finish and a lot less trouble. I hate wearing a respirator. I enjoyed the video, and I like your short pants.
Thanks for the flashback to the time my father conscripted my brother and me to help him put in a concrete floor, in our basement! It was a 200 year old dirt floor, and we worked it in sections, which then became the forms for subsequent sections…this was about 60 yeas ago…I’m going to share this video to my brother, who’ll probably get a kick out of it, too! Oh, our mixer was all metal with no grounding wire, so, many many zaps!!!
I waterproof my basement which involved cutting and hammering out a 18" parameter around the whole basement and then backfilling with gravel and concrete. 95% solo. I now offer anyone within earshot my concrete mixer to barrow. It good to see other people taking on huge solo projects.
Yeah, definitely a success. I poured a floor in a long, narrow garage once. But a truck worked for me and, as a popular teacher, I had about 20 helpers on pour day.
Dang these videos are super good, exactly the kind of stuff that's interesting and perfect pacing!! Need more please! Will watch/like all your older ones.
Nice. Having done this, I agree with everything you said. I was blessed with a walk out garage, but poured lots of bags…. And discovered I had no friends.
Bro... You just gained a new subscriber. The thumbnail got me here, and your editing & sense of humor gained the sub. Never saw a video or heard of you previously either. Props, cheers, and I'll be binging your videos now lol.😁
First video of yours I saw was your keyboard-build. Sad to see it's not getting used these days(?) Also, good to know that I shan't be doing any solo concrete pours. I'll keep it in mind.
At least you show the roll and thanks for the other laughs. You’re one funny guy…. PS please your bike short killed me! Édit: you should have way more more views!
Hahahahaha holy shit! Man I could feel the nerves watching you fall over. Definitely something my dumb ass would do. I would've had to take a break and change my pants after that.
Lolz. when I was a teen I worked for a remodeler. We would have had to mix that by hand in a wheel barrow. No ready mix for us Ohh nooos. We had to work for it lolz! Me and my work partner could dig. form and hand mix pour 60 sidewalk squares in a day....thats about 500 bags a day HAND mixed. Ironically or perhaps on purpose, every one of his employees were athletes. So maybe he was a bit slippery after all...Joke. Dude was actually nice and paid cash... and paid well. Miss that old Buzzard! Hard to find someone who worked their way up from nothing to wealth, and watch him dig holes by hand in the rain and never complain! Rare breed indeed. P.s He always bought lunch too...and drove old work trucks, wore old jeans and crisp starched Blue jeans work shirts and old cowboy boots and hat.. even though they had a 4th home/mansion in Egypt...
Great videography. Are you best friends with Sam Raimi? Reminds me of 80 bags is the back of my S-10, lol. Oh yeah...Lance Armstrong called and wants his shorts back! Keep up the great content. I built a mini-me version of your workbench and it rocks. Next up are Lars and James rock'n'out in my laser fume filter box.
You made me cry. With laughter! But OMG, you're never going to get rid of all of the concrete dust layering everything in your basement. Real question here: why didn't you mix it all outside, and pour the wet concrete down through the window like you did the pea gravel? A kids slide might have dropped it far enough inside to put it right in the middle of your new slab area. After the first mishap/dustup of sliding a bag down into your basement I'd have... 😅 Sorry, I just can't stop flashbacks of the ragdolling drumroll! 🤣
Not too worried about the dust, lots of plastic wrap off screen covering relevant surfaces, the floor is getting epoxied later on and the ceiling will be finished. A few reasons - window is too high off the ground to properly use a chute (didn't show it but I tried a chute with the pea gravel and I couldn't get the angle steep enough, shoveling was easier). I would not be able to tip the mixer at the right angle and making a ramp to achieve the right height is a non-starter because the mixer is so heavy. There are flower beds in front of it as well. Also, concrete needs to mix in the mixer for at least 3 minutes. Rather than standing idle, I spend that time floating or shoveling. Running around the house back and fourth up and down the stairs is a waste of time. Mixing it all at once and then working it is a loosing strategy because it will probably be half setup by the time I finish. Storing concrete inside (where I run a dehumidifier) mitigates the risk of humidity causing the bags to go off.
Man seeing you barrel roll over that heavy mixer was hilarious - props for not hanging it up for the day right then and there. Looks great!
I laughed way to friggin hard at the barrel roll, my wife finally came in the office to make sure I was ok. I'm glad you didn't get more seriously hurt.
Me too!
You are the This Old Tony of wood working and house renovations and I love it.
I was just gonna comment that I love the TOT vibe of this. Even kinda sounds like him too.
Agreed
Loved the barrel roll. Your confident self effacing humor is your secret sauce, and I'm now a subscriber. Laughed out loud, I've done similar.
My man. 3 years later and you've come back to the basement! That was I think the first video I watched. Found another use for all the buckets too! Great job. And lucky that your barrel role moment doesn't end up like a live leak video posted on a Laotian basket weaving forum.
been waiting for this video for years, good shit.
Got to share, like and comment. This guy's needs the algorithm help. Top notch videos and great DIY projects.

Thank you so much!
i agree honestly caught myself just now at end of pad wish there was longer videos lol damn 10min please do bigger pad!!!!
If you can't move 5500lbs of concrete twice in 2 hrs and keep your cool, this job isn't for you
Totally worth the ride just for that clip. Another awesome video!
I have to buy a sticker after watching you ride that concrete mixer. Awesome video!
That thumbnail is crazy! Awesome video!
Good work and loved the comedic touches!

Oh good. Now I need to try pouring cement in my basement.
😬
Having done a number of smaller quickrete pours this is a beast of a project to take on solo! Great video.
resisted laughing until ya went airborne…subscribed!
The best concrete for beginners video. I love how you described the weights involved, be safe!

this channels definitely going to blow up, ive watch so many of your videos since i got recommended this one today.
Wow, this channel is a rare gem. The quality is so high and you are funny as hell. Why do you have so few subscribers?!
I waterproof my basement which involved cutting and hammering out a 18" parameter around the whole basement and then backfilling with gravel and concrete. 95% solo. I now offer anyone within earshot my concrete mixer to barrow.
It good to see other people taking on huge solo projects.
The drum tipping over while still spinning and then taking you with it secured a sub from me 🤝
So glad to see you post another video!
Incredible. These videos are great. Some of the most effort I've ever seen put into a youtube video. Good work!
Yeah, definitely a success. I poured a floor in a long, narrow garage once. But a truck worked for me and, as a popular teacher, I had about 20 helpers on pour day.

Thank you! Trying!
Thanks! Keep up the great job!

The subtle comedy in this video was just great 👍
Your honesty was worth the thumbs up
Great video man! It was super entertaining and really informative as well!
Great video! How are you not already a huge RUclipsr?
This is the greatest construction how-to video I have ever seen.. period. Bravo sir!
Thank you!
had a buddy do this and he just put the cement down dry and sprayed it down. floor seems to be doing good still after 8 years.
Came here for the thumbnail
Was not disappointed
Glad you're safe
Amazing content subbed!
Thank you, I appreciate it
Great video.
I think I would have made a trough in the window, mixed outside and poured it through that window.
Bro... You just gained a new subscriber. The thumbnail got me here, and your editing & sense of humor gained the sub. Never saw a video or heard of you previously either.
Props, cheers, and I'll be binging your videos now lol.😁
Thank you!
that was tough watching that fall buddy, take care of yourself!
Great effort! Good results.
I'd say it would have been more solo diy friendly if it wasn't quickcrete but hey, it worked.
Thank you - I think you're right
You’re a bad ass, good job!
First video of yours I saw was your keyboard-build. Sad to see it's not getting used these days(?)
Also, good to know that I shan't be doing any solo concrete pours. I'll keep it in mind.
You have made a believer out of me. Kudos sir!
Box fan on the window might've helped with the dust haha. And garden hose thru the window for water
better than i could ever do!
Your videos and shorts are amazing, how do you only have 6k subscribers
I just discovered your channel after initially watching the foundation replacement, thanks for waiting till i got here to finish!!!
I love everything in the vid
you did it
That was a damn good video!
Great video dude, I love your style
😂😂😂 man!! This was good!
Getting flipped by the mixer is such a reality for me. Especially since you seem significantly bigger in frame than I am 😂
love your stuff
Bro is funny. Great video and work!
The absolute best Sat morning laugh! Thanks, BRO! Okay, the mixer mishaps was a bit like watching two turtles fu&%. Don't google it. But yeah!
Yull get that on these big jobs
Thanks brother glad to see that you were able to finish the floor despite The concrete mixer, almost taking you out. Hahahaa great vid.
as someone who just mixed 30 bags by hand in a wheel barrow to repair my bathroom floor. you have my respect sir.
In a wheel barrow? That's rough. At least use a mixing drill!
I watched my first video of yours less than 24 hours ago, and I’m so lucky to have you post a new one so soon!
Cool vid, mad respect to you for soloing. Power through the fear! subb'd for the thumbnail!
Appreciate that
Great video with some great laughs. Subscribed, cheers G.H
At least you show the roll and thanks for the other laughs. You’re one funny guy…. PS please your bike short killed me!
Édit: you should have way more more views!
Definitely 🤘🏻rocking these vids.
Now I can finally make my own Basement Slab.
You do know they can pump concrete a couple hundred feet.
The truck can stay in the street.
Run the hose through the basement window.
Dumping a running mixer over is totally something I’d do.
respect for showing the mistakes.
Ohh, an epoxy floor? I wonder what youre planning for this space
A man with KRK's is a man I know tried his best at anything he did and managed a good enough result. Good job dude!
Man that was hilarious. Good thing you didn't get hurt
That mixer took you for a ride! 🤣
Damn you are the fittest human.. the ponytail.. don’t forget with great mustache comes great responsibility.
Hahahahaha holy shit! Man I could feel the nerves watching you fall over. Definitely something my dumb ass would do. I would've had to take a break and change my pants after that.
Who says I didn't!?
This mixer has seen some UFC fights, that legsweep was professional move😅
Lolz. when I was a teen I worked for a remodeler. We would have had to mix that by hand in a wheel barrow. No ready mix for us Ohh nooos. We had to work for it lolz!

This looks like a hell of a workout
Best i've had in a long time
Finally, someone who works like me haha
love the little sound effect when you fell. What's that from? Sounds like something from an NES game
The sfx is '8 bit explosion' or something like that
I did a slab with a wheel barrow and shovel mixed.. came out great but man what a rush😅
No words.
You’re really funny and put noticeable effort into editing for the video, why so few and far between uploads?
More effort = more time. Full time job, family, life, etc.
I kinda wanna try this.. just not at my house.
I love how you look like a 1980s gym teacher.
Yeah, this is relevant to my interests.
Still no flashing on the outside mate! on the todo list?
big dad energy
It takes a real man to leave the barrel fall in. Mistakes are part of any good home project - is what I tell myself.
What's next for your Grow room? I'd recommend tanking it 🙂
Alright thumbnail did not disappoint for once.
Show me a picture of that bench! I've yet to see one in the wild. Glad it's treating you well
Don't have to even watch the video to upvote.
But, yeah.
I GONNA watch the video and learn some stuff then get inspired to get my project finished.
Hilarious….and informative
damn hidden gem found
should have made a bunker for the apocalypse
Bro doesn't realize he can call a cement truck and have it delivered.
You made me cry. With laughter!

Idk. I think that looks great. But I don’t do concrete for a living so I may be wrong.
Should have grown in that basement dirt.
watchin some dude dump several loads
