However, there's the fan in me that really wishes and wants to see you as the Manager for Solo's Bloodline, mostly alligned with Jacob Fatu. You'd be the absolute, perfect match and check for Paul Heyman. I feel like the audience would want to see you and Heyman more than the actual Bloodline at times, if it were to occur. One can dream.

    The World Wrestling Network was Jim Crockett's thing with Paul Heyman's involvement. They had a taping in TX in July 1993 and NY at the Manhattan Center in Feb. 1994. There was talk that ECW was going to become part of the WWN and that Tod Gordon was going to be the local WWN promoter representing them in the Northeast. Eddie Gilbert didn't like the idea of doing business with Crockett (Eddie still had heat with Crockett over how he handled the UWF purchase), and so he left ECW and Paul took his place as head booker. The WWN never really got off the ground, and so the partnership dissolved
    The tapings that Crockett had in TN happened later in 1994 under the NWA name, and then by October 94, he set up in TX and ran shows at the Dallas Sportatorium as the NWA. He had a North American champion, and the Rock 'N Rolls won a tournament for the resurrected NWA tag team titles. .The promotion folded around May 1995.

    Since I was a young kid who had the good luck to see Corny & the Midnights live a couple times during the beginning of their heyday - at the very end of Mid-Atlantic Wrestling (in ‘85 vs the Rock n Roll Express) & right after the birth of Jim Crockett Promotions (in ‘86 vs the Road Warriors), I’m finally beginning to notice my older age. And since I discovered this podcast back right before Covid, like a lot of other listeners, it (& The Experience) have become a very cherished part of my week. And so, with thoughts of my mortality central in my mind (and even though Corny says he doesn’t care), if Paul (Levesque) doesn’t give his induction into the HOF the green light very soon, it will be tremendously disappointing. Especially should something terrible happen, it’d be a goddamned travesty for him to have to go in posthumously & have us be robbed of seeing him try & hide his excitement at being given a live mic, & have both the eyes & ears of the boys (& girls) & all the rest of the business & fans listening… for at least one last time.

    this was an awesome episode of WWE biography glad they did one on paul heyman glad we're finally talking about it paul's career has been phenomenal I didn't know until a few years ago that he was a photographer just like jim cornette ECW was amazing but it continues to ruin wrestling even today paul's work with roman reigns as been phenomenal the past 4-years his promo at ECW one night stand 2005 was very entertaining I know I'm missing more lol I also didn't know that he didn't want to return to WWE in 2012 but brock wanted it because of that awful promo he cut with Johnny ace in 2012 paul's work with roman reigns since 2020 has been outstanding can't wait to see what they do together now that roman is a babyface sorry if I'm missing a few.

    "The glorification and the nostalgia for ECW, I don't get, because... they lost 8 million dollars!" I think this perfectly sums up Jim's ultimate blind spot: For all that he likes to talk about "the average American wrestling fan" when he's using them as a cudgel to bash AEW talent, he shows little to no understanding of what really matters about professional wrestling to people who have never actually been in the business. Fans care about how what they watch makes them feel, how much joy they get out of it (or don't), and the impact it makes on them (or doesn't). They don't care about how much money it makes or loses for people who aren't them, nor should they be expected to. That's inside-baseball stuff. It's deeper in the weeds than you can expect people to go unless they absolutely have to. People in the business do have to go into those weeds, of course, but Jim Cornette no longer seems to remember that there's a whole world outside of them, and that's where the people live who you actually make this stuff for.

    • @chrischar9428
      @chrischar9428 3 месяца назад +1

      The only thing that matters IS money. Now if you say fans don't care enough, but to everyone else in the business it's $$

    • @PatD83
      @PatD83 3 месяца назад +1

      @@chrischar9428 I'm not saying it's wrong for Cornette, or anyone else in the business, to see it that way. My point is that once they expect people outside in the real world to look at wrestling from a business perspective, they've lost the proverbial plot. In this specific case, for example people glorify and have nostalgia for ECW because they enjoyed watching it and it made them feel something. People outside the business don't care whether or not Paul was fiscally responsible, and they shouldn't be expected to.

      Why would he be jealous? What does Heyman have that Corny covets? Corny has his wife, puppy dog, Castle Cornette, this podcast, his collection, his experiences and memories, and he’s financially as comfortable as he needs to be. If Corny wanted to be back in the thick of things on TV, he could be. He has stated many times that he’s very happy with his life as it is today and has no desire to be back working on TV, directly in the wrestling business.

    • @richardwilliams5387

      @@iamcasihart From a purely professional level. Jim is (rightly) proud of his position as one of the greatest managers of all time, but there are as many people who hate him as love him. Heyman has done legitimately fucked up things, like not paying ECW guys what he owed them and yet he's getting massive pops at shows to this day. Also, Jim absolutely blames Heyman and ECW for "garbage death match" wrestling which he has said multiple times "ruined" wrestling. Maybe jealously is not the 100 percent right word, I think it's more of a passive aggressive dislike. That's where the fat jokes everytime Heyman's name is mentioned comes from, it's Jim's way of needling him cause he doesn't want to come out and say " I hate the motherfu"*er".
