- Third week of May 2024. What an enjoyable hike, amazing scenery and giant skunk cabbage. More boardwalk on this trail than anywhere else in Washinton! The forest was awesome, the beach was awesome, the hike was unforgettable. We hiked 10 miles with 600 feet of elevation gain, I could have spent days out here hiking more on the beach in either direction, what a treat to be able to do this trail. The hike starts out with 3 miles of trail, then 3-4 miles of beach, then finally 3 more miles of trail back to the car. I would do this hike in a counterclockwise direction and always look out for the high tides, a low tide of no greater than 2 feet is recommended. These videos are made in real time and not sped up or edited in any way, what I see is what you get. Please enjoy, subscribe, like, and comment :)
My wife and I hiked to Cape Alava back in November 1997 after an intense rainstorm on the drive in to the campground the night before. The skies cleared up overnight to expose the most beautiful night sky I’ve ever seen in my life.
The next day we did the hike to Cape Alava and had the entire hike and beach to ourselves (except for a family of deer), where I proposed to her. I originally planned to make it to Wedding Rocks for obvious reasons, but we arrived at high tide and couldn’t pass some downed trees. Still a wonderful and memorable experience.
Wow, sounds like an awesome experience :)
Lovely trail man, this whole area looks great! 🥾
It was amazing, one of those hikes you just want to go on forever.
It's Memorial Day. Everyone is all sleeping. We don't wake up until noon to go hiking and camping in Seattle. You know that.
Lol, to funny, so true! We to stayed home today :)
My wife and I went hiking this morning at 8am lol she's per diem nurse 3 12s at this stage in her career. 4 days off. I sold a piece of technology when I was 40 years old and basically retired. Lots of people travel and hike regardless of holidays.
You are so lucky, I wish my wife had 4 days off a week. I am working on losing some weight and getting healthier so I can have more time when she does work less. No beer since before my injury and eating less, less carbs and sugar to. I try not to get on I-5 or I-90 during Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day. We went to Capital Forest by Tumwater, what a gem you have down there.
Beautiful hike. You mentioned Twilight the movie. I always think of that movie when i see these hikes. Did you know they filmed mostly in Oregon and parts of Canada?
Yep, I think the 2nd movie on was mostly Vancouver BC area? The books though used real Washington places, never read them though. Glad you enjoyed it, hope you are doing well :)
Hi my friend-
So you encouraged me to hopefully travel. I'm scared because I am in a chair and my husband can't lift me with his neck fusions he had done. I want to go to Wyoming where the Tetons are. I found a lodge with accessible cabins. Is there a way I can email you to get more help ? I have so many questions and since you've been around I need all the deets!!!
That sounds awesome, such a fun area to see. Just go to my channel about page and then the details, from there you will see the channel email link. Anyone can use it, feel free to send me an e-mail :)
