- Reed Sheppard recently closed out an incredible season as a freshman for the Kentucky Wildcats, even with absurd shot making percentages and really high level defensive numbers, it’s rare to see a player like him as high as he is in mock drafts, but here we are. Many people are stunned he’s being mocked this highly, But there’s a lot of reasons it makes sense. Some people have expressed concerns however, with the most major concern people seem to have being his single March Madness game this year. For casual fans, this was the only Reed Sheppard they saw all year, and he disappeared. I see the question frequently asked, how is this small, unathletic guard that absolutely vanished against Oakland with 3 points on 20% shooting supposed to be going top 10, if not top 5? Today, we break down the pros in Reed Sheppard’s game, the cons, and we try to see if he truly does deserve the level of hype he’s been getting. So with all that, let’s get right into it
Welcome to the channel! Over my life, I have developed a passion for diving deep into the stats, history, and play styles of various basketball players and teams, and in my opinion no better way to get those ideas out there than through rankings, comparisons and tier lists.
I tend to discuss detailed breakdowns of individual players' strengths and weaknesses, their historical achievements, and their current performance on the court, to determine where they rank in the list in question.
The tier lists are carefully crafted to reflect the latest trends and developments in the league, and I always stay up to date with the latest news and analysis.
Whether you're a basketball history fan, or someone who wants to learn and talk about the modern game, this channel will have content for you. Subscribe for regular basketball ranking content and highlights!
I’m sorry did you say unathletic in the intro? You do understand he had the highest max vertical leap at the combine… I was excited to watch this video damn
Fairly sure I was saying that was a concern some people had, but later in the video mentioned that he is more athletic than people think. (If I didn’t i intended to lol)
To be fair he doesn’t play that explosive. But he’s def gonna have a long career but probably not a star. Which is a win if I’m a GM
I like the comp of Mike Conley. He does a lot of similar things like the dribble pull up off a pick. Conley played best as a secondary playmaker off of Edwards / Mitchell. And I think Sheppard is in the same vein.
Probably a low ceiling barring unseen development in shot creation. But super high floor. I can see him replicating mid to late career Conley. Being a 15-20 PPG / 6 AST guy for 10+ years.
I’d say Conley would have been my alternate comparison. I agree, very similar
Mark Price is a waaaay better comparison
Mark Price was my 2nd option for a comparison actually
Come to Houston
He’s like a Klay Thompson to me
I don’t see the comparison other than the shooting. Klay in his prime was a 6’6 off ball 3&D star, while Reed is a smaller, on ball playmaking PG that can also shoot
@@hoophierarchy 3’s, defense, type of game, physical ability, etc. (to me it’s not even a real PG maybe a combo-guard at best)
jimmer fredette
this years draft is weak 🤣
John Stockton
The Comp is Poor Man’s Payton Pritchard 🤷🏽
?
Because he white 😂
He was better than Pritchard was in college. Cal didn’t play him enough
