  • Rob Dillingham's dynamic ball handling and shotmaking ability quickly made him one of the most exciting players in college basketball and a legitimate NBA prospect despite coming off Kentucky's bench. Major improvements physically, in his passing and efficiency were the difference in what he'd shown prior. Size & defense concerns loom but Dillingham may be the best creation bet in the class. *Reupload*

I don’t think yall realize how good of an offensive player he is. Y’all literally just don’t get 😂. As long as he tries on defense it won’t matter how bad he is, he’s that good on offense. Lou Williams/Tyreese maxey and I think he’ll prolly be a better shooter than both.

at the end if you are including New Orleans you might as well put the Utah Jazz as a fit who I think should be #1 fit for Rob next to Keyonte and Sexton. They really like Clarkson and I get it but moving on from Jordan and getting a younger guy to play the same role would be huge and you get additional assets. What you said before with Wemby also can apply to Kessler as a shot blocker Hendricks has defensive upside as well and I think that it would be a good idea to work out a trade with Jonathan Isaac for Jordan Clarkson so you have him too for a year just my take.

If the Spurs draft him, he will spend all year in the G League learning how to defend.
He gives up too easily for a system that historically values defense first and that's exactly what they need to improve.
Offensively he gives more (and even has a higher ceiling) than Tre Jones, but it's on the other end that the Spurs really need to improve.
Plus, from the top of the draft, only Wizards need a PG, but will look to other players having a pick so high.
Best case scenario is that maybe he lands in Toronto if they have the 6th pick or if a team really is looking to his ceiling and value in the future.

    • @Keezus.
      @Keezus. 5 месяцев назад +4

Popovich started Bryn Forbes for 2 years, had patty mills as a key rotation piece for a decade, and recently just trot Doug McDermott for 3 seasons and you think he’d relegate Rob to not even playing? Lol
Does San Antonio need perimeter defenders? Sure. Does some elite 2-way forward exist in this draft? No. San Antonio desperately needs an on-ball advantage creator, and shooting. Rob fills those needs, if they choose to take him he would immediately be seeing PT as an offensive weapon.

@@Keezus. Bryn Forbes(36 games-0starter in NBA), Derrick White(17g-0s) and Dejounte Murray(38g-8s) spent most of their first year in the G League. I didn't remember Patty Mills' 1st year and guess what? He was drafted by Portland, spent 2 years there, arrived in SA in the 3rd year(!) and played the HUGE amount of...16 games with 3 starts :)
Doug McDermott was there to tank, as soon as they wanted to move forward, he was the first to go LOL Champagnie will be the next one to go or jump off rotation: he offers zero but has been a starter all year.
I agree with your point of needing creation and also shooting, but he won't be playing a lot. It's how Spurs operate. The only players in recent years having more playing time in their 1st year were Vassell(62), Branham(66), Sochan(56) and... Wembanyama(67). Popovich can even force Branham in the PG position for him to develop so Rob could even be behind him and still Tre Jones.
My point still is: he won't play a lot!... unless he turns out to be another Tony Parker in training, but even for that to happen he would need to be an even better facilitator than what he showed and be mentally strong and I can't evaluate that.

This kid's self creation is honestly ridiculous, can clearly get any shot he wants with a very refined game (footwork, timing, angles, touch at all 3 levels). His jumpshooting percentages are very high on good volume on some quite difficult shots. And he seems capable of doing all of this Off ball as well. Which requires a plethora of different skills + understanding of the game.
With his on and off ball 3 point shooting being so good, he's always going to be able to create driving lanes. I think this kid is probably an All star level scorer in the league when its all said and done.

Lou Williams/Jr Smith type of player. I can see him being a clutch bucket getter but definitely not a starting PG on a great team. The herky jerky style of play is not built to run an offense for an entire game.

Frankly, he should stay in school another two years, get the NIL bag, get stronger and learn how to play DEFENSE. His NBA ceiling will hinge on his defense and his size.

Want to see what his measurements at the combine are - He is good on the offensive side I just don’t know if he going to be able to do what he did in college vs NBA players. My other big concern is him on the defensive side as he legitimately a very bad defender and Yes he will be hunted on the defensive side people will go at him all game long.

This guy is a certified bucket getter. I would be devastated if the spurs passed up on this guy for a Risacher/Castle type player who I have a hard time seeing develop an all-star level game. Rob will have issues with his size and defense early in his career and struggle with turnovers/inefficiency at times but he's gonna be a superstar level scorer sooner than later.

I know this is a crazy comparison, but I see some Steph curry similarities in terms of his strengths and concerns. But at the low end I see him as a Brandon Knight type.
