It’s exceptionally exhilarating to see you spent some time in my hometown although it was only a 17-hour trip. However, I have a few suggestions just in case you would go to Shanghai again. First of all, the Shanghai Maglev’s maximum speed is 270 mph (430 kmh) instead of 480 mph that you indicated in the video although 270 mph still makes it the fastest train on Earth. In addition, if you arrived in Shanghai as late as this time, I would highly recommend you to go to some night bars or themed cafes. Shanghai never sleeps, however, you would need to search a little bit on where you could go during the midnight. If you would like to go to night bars to have some fun, “Fusion”, “M2” are pretty nice to go. On the other hand, Nanjing Road is a MUST for you to go because it’s freaking amazing! It has hundreds of thousands of stores that you could possibly visit. It’s pretty close to the hotel that you stayed at this time and most of the stores close at around 10 pm. Last but not least, if you would like me to search something more for you I would be down to do it!

You misunderstood the "les suites orient", it may means "luxury rooms of the East". Shanghai is a international city, with a French name is not strange. Enjoy your journey.
just came back from shanghai on 12 hr layover, did try MAGLEV runs only 301 max speed, transfer into longyang for subway # 2 and HIT by luck LUJIAZUI the glitzy financial district. original plan was the BUND also but I'm satisfied with this PEARL ring pedestrian walk visibly the orient tower , 2nd highest bldg. - shanghai tower at 127 flr, jin mao, shang financial center, nice URBAN planning., highly recommended..
Dear Linny, I just wanted to say a huge thank you. I had been searching all over the internet for some idea of distances. Using exact times on your videos is such a huge help for me. I have googled how far is it from Pudong International Airport to Shanghai Disney, and all I can find is "A short distance" for the answer. If you could kindly reply here, I would be extremely grateful. Time in minutes or miles would be just magic for me. I'll also assume the $160 refers to US dollars for the room. (That might make getting to and from Disneyland a little difficult staying on the Bund.) I know MagLev is ultra fast though. Please give your thoughts below, and again thank you so much.

Did you have to pay for your visa? Also I saw on your blog that you got a 24 hour visa but you only stayed for 17 hours. So why did you need a visa? If I don't leave the airport do I need a Visa?...do I have to get in the Visa line if I stay in the airport? I'm asking so much I'm just scared I want to make sure I do my trip wisely.

Yup, got a 24 hour visa/stamp from the airport before I left. It was a pretty simple process luckily. I guess it becomes more of a hassle if you want to stay longer. And I am from the midwest! Michigan to be exact. I'm horrible at detecting accents so I'm impressed you could tell!

I'm thinking about going to Korea and possibly getting a flight that has a 24 hr layover in Shanghai. I'm just not sure if I could handle China right now. I've heard it can be stressful because of The language barrier, counterfeit money, and the visa. I know you spent less than a day in China but was it more stressful than Korea?
Sorry for my slow reply! That is a tough decision. I think that Korea with a long layover in China is a good idea though since you can't do both! I really loved Korea, and it was very easy to navigate with English everywhere and most people understanding English as well. There was definitely a language barrier in China and I personally encountered problems with my credit card not working most places, which was stressful. I think if you planned your 24 hours to be a good arriving/departure time where you get most of your free time during the day when there are fun things to do you could have a much better time than I did as well (since I was only free for the late evening). Hello! I guess it depends on the person and their comfort level, but I personally felt safe leaving the airport for my long layover. I think it helps to stick to the busy, main parts of the city (I stayed near the Bund) and have a plan for getting to and from the airport and all needed addresses / names in Mandarin available (I printed out my hotel's name and address before my trip to show the taxi driver). I think as long as one prepares themselves, it should be alright. Let me know if you have any questions, I'd be happy to help!

Yeah Go to Bar Rouge or M1NT good Clubs and for bar hopping go to Hengshan Lu Street theres also a Club called Club Light! You can go to Vue at Hyatt in the Bund there is a rooftop bar with awesome views and also a jacuzzi you will see there is a lot to do in Shanghai and that is only a few places there are many more options!

You can always ask Hotel staff's recommendation on nightlife places. Shanghai has a lot nice night places.
