I just started and appalled. Who would timestamp the listen of you two; The Audacity. Im in it as, you know, i do my household chores. Love you two!!! Thanks for all you do. I also adore how everyone's your old pal, Chris.
Love the May December conversation and that y'all love it, i just watched it yesterday and loved it so much. I hope it can stay alive in awards season.
On the GoldDerby site I see y’all are missing certain categories like Original Score, Best Original Song, and International Feature. Any reason as to why? I want to predict them. Unless the Globes don’t have that category this year. And didn’t they add a new dumb category called like Biggest Box Office Success or something?
@@megamoviez Well, if so much depends on how you interpret a film then maybe Poor Things is a comedy, many more comedic moments in that one than in May December. And maybe Color Purple is a drama, because its topics are very serious and sometimes very sad? If they included one or two comedic moments in Zone Of Interest could it be a comedy/musical too?..
@@ktom5262Poor Things IS also in comedy, actually. And I can see how The Color Purple is a weird case - grouping comedy and musical together was always a little weird imo. Now I agree May December is better suited to drama but it’s not totally off. These things often come down to strategy.
@@aftarsun Well, in classic theatre comedy is a form of tragedy, and vice versa. Drama is human comedy after all, because human life is absurd comedy, in its essence. But in modern age cinema there's a rather clear difference between what is considered a comedy and a psychological drama. Or at least I thought so.
I super appreciate the *NSYNC convo. We are a loyal bunch and we are collectively manifesting that Oscar Nomination for Justin and *NSYNC performance! When the rumor that they would show up at the VMA’s started, the show had it highest ratings in years! It’s what the Academy is salivating for in recent years. I’m glad to hear your daughter liked Band Together, Chris! The movie had a lot of original songs compared to the previous Trolls movies. BroZone’s Back was the boyband mashup of *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Boyz II Men, BeeGees and New Edition.
Chris, you said you were feeling more confident about Brooke for supporting actress. Do you still feel that way after the TCP underperformance so far? Thanks!
Thanks for keeping these up- big fan. I reference “my friends Chris and Joyce” like a psychopath while discussing movies at parties. Anyway, I thought May-December was a little over-acted and while fine, not particularly special. I didn’t find it haunting in the way I think it was intended. As far as Netflix releases go, I liked the Killer so much more. The soundtrack, the style, Fassbender - all so delicious.
Thanks for listening, Julia!! The Killer is another banger. Netflix has a great crop this year. In terms of May December, I think it does benefit from multiple viewings because some of the layers of the performances are really nuanced. I still find myself thinking about line readings and movements now weeks later.
Am I mistaken or are foreign-language films not eligible for the main Best Picture awards? That is why Parasite and All Quiet weren't nominated in past years.
So who will be the out of nowhere nominee that doesn't get the love from the critics groups and shows up on Oscar morning like Judi Dench did for Belfast and Andrea Reisborough did for To Leslie?
@@laurajones1773 At the Oscars I agree and I’m not saying they’ll win but those two I easily see getting nominated at the Globes over Anatomy Of A Fall and Zone Of Interest because the Globes are a joke when it comes to their nominations.
Well the globes didn’t nominate Roma and Parasite for Best Picture even though those movies are like top 2 contender for Best Picture at the Oscars. I do think it’s a joke that Parasite wasn’t at least nominated for Best Picture at the Globes considering it’s one of the best films of the last decade. Not super annoyed that Roma didn’t get nominated for Best Picture at the Globes considering that I found Roma overrated.
@@laurajones1773 because I believe the Globes used to have a rule that foreign films couldn’t get nominated for Best Picture but I think that rule no longer exists?
I don’t get the May December hype. I saw it and thought it was just okay. It should definitely be in Drama. I didn’t laugh one time. Also, I find it odd that a sixth nomination slot is so annoying to you. There is a ton of content out there. Maybe expand your viewing. Watch a show or film you wouldn’t normally watch. You may find a gem. Overall, I want chaos and surprises with the nominations.
You two are the most amazing awards prognosticators -- for real.
What @Gorilla-Film said.

I LOL at the joke about Empire of the light and The Son

It's ridiculous that May December is in comedy/musical category. It should be in drama.
It all depends on how you interpret the film. The festival I saw it at some saw it as a drama but a lot saw it as a dark comedy satire.

I am not! Da'Vine feels like a burgeoning sweeper.

In the past yes. It’s been overturned this year
It's sad how not a single award organization acknowledged Elizabeth Olsen's performance in Love & Death. It's a shame.
Happy to see Da'Vine Joy Randolph sweeping the critics! She was so great.

Nyad or Napoleon could be a Globes pick for Drama. Those feel very Globesy. So don’t be surprised if they get Best Drama.
Hard to imagine any of those two movies could beat out Oppenheimer and Killers of the Flower Moon.

Which is a stupid rule. Any film should be eligible to be nominated for Best Picture at the Golden Globes.

Elizabeth would be a shoo in for a Razzie!
YAY!

You didn’t even laugh at the hotdog piano joke
I'm surprised that The Curse is not in limited instead of drama.
