    So helpful!! Thank you so much for putting this information out there! I never thought to just go straight to the NAACLS website rather than just visit the school websites one by one

    I was in nursing school until I decided that I hated it. I loved the science, but hated pretty much everything else lol. I still very much want to pursue school, and still wanted the major of health science, but had no idea what to do. I've been doing research into pathology, and the fact that the university that I've lived the closest to for my entire life has one of the few accredited PA programs just feels like a sign. I mean, Toledo is such a run down, crime riddled, crappy town, but it's uni is so nice and the fact that I can get scholarships for living there, probably the ONE perk of living there, seems like even more of a sign. I've applied for undergrad, and I'm very excited to hopefully start next fall. I have a lot of the basic classes for the undergrad done already from when I was in my nursing program, so hopefully I can get into the PA program sooner than later!

      It's worth it to switch out of a program you hate - no sense getting stuck in a career you hate for the rest of your life. And sounds like you're lucky enough to be in a city with a PA program in it. Good luck with your application and journey through school!

    I live in New Orleans and will be applying to the Tulane program! I’m currently working on my bachelors in biological science. I work as a grossing tech II for quest diagnostics in a hospital laboratory.

    Hi, I wanted to let you know I love your channel and it's really helped me with knowing that this is a career I want to pursue, so thank you for making this content!
    I was wondering if you'd be willing to do a video on interviewing for the Masters degree. I just found out I have an interview mid May and I'd love to know if you have any advice or even if you could just explain the interview process you went through.

      Thanks for reaching out and I'm glad the videos have helped! Congrats on the interview! I'm looking to do some work on an interview video in the next week or two. I should be able to have it out before mid May =)

      @@canadianpathassistant9066 thank you! I was pretty stoked when I got the email about the interview. That would be awesome if you might get a video out, and I'm sure everyone else is probably in the same mode right now of potential interviews. Your videos have definitely helped inspire me to pursue this career and I look forward to all your new content. It confirmed to me I liked this stuff when I was watching some of your lecture videos just after finishing my last exam in my undergrad, you'd think I wouldn't want to be learning more stuff, but it's all really interesting :)
      Keep it up, I really appreciate it!

    Hi. I wanted to know if international students can apply for PA programs or if only Permanent residents or Citizens can apply in Canada?

    • @canadianpathassistant9066
      @canadianpathassistant9066  9 месяцев назад

      Yes international students can apply to PA programs. If applying from a non native English speaking country you may have to complete an English language proficiency test as part of your application. Also tuition fees are typically higher for international students.

    Hi. Is there a 1 year masters degree program in ontario canada related to laboratory medicine?

    • @canadianpathassistant9066
      @canadianpathassistant9066  2 года назад

      Laboratory medicine is fairly broad - are you looking for pathologist assistant programs or any lab medicine program? The PA masters programs in Ontario are 2 years in length and I'm not aware of a one year program in either Canada or the US for PAs. Outside of that, I don't know much about other lab programs sorry!

    do they need Ielts score? what level they need?

    • @canadianpathassistant9066
      @canadianpathassistant9066  2 года назад

      Ielts is one of the language proficiency tests schools will accept. I’ve seen acceptable scores of 7 or 7.5 but again it varies by the school. Each program’s website should specify what minimum score they’re looking for.

    Anyone knows the most affordable Pathologists assistant program for out of state students in the US?

  • @rustecohle591

    I’m currently based in the UK and I’m considering a career change into this in the near future. Are there any apprenticeships/studentships or paid programs that are provided in Toronto ? Do they also provide a work or student visa? Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

    • @canadianpathassistant9066
      @canadianpathassistant9066  Год назад

      As far as I'm aware the only available programs in Toronto are Master's programs at post secondary institutions (eg Western Ontario and the University of Toronto) and these are paid for out of pocket (ie not an apprenticeship/studenship/paid program). I'm not familiar with the application or enrollment process for international students as far as work/student visas. If you speak to the graduate student offices at these institutions they would most likely provide the best information for applying as an international student.

    Hey. Thank you for this videos. Actually I am interested in comming for a pathology assistant master program in Canada. I am from Sri Lanka and hope to apply for western university canada. Do you think getting in for this program is difficult for an international student like myself?

    • @canadianpathassistant9066
      @canadianpathassistant9066  3 года назад +2

      I think getting into that program (or any of the programs) can be difficult no matter where you're coming from, Canada or elsewhere. There are a lot of people that apply and only a few spots open each year. Your best bet is to make sure you have the GPA and course background for any program you're applying to as well as having a solid understanding of what the profession is and what you'd be doing if you worked as a PA. Good luck!

    University of Toronto opened a PA program last year, but I didn’t see it in the Naacles list. Does that mean the graduates can not take the certification exams?

    • @canadianpathassistant9066
      @canadianpathassistant9066  3 года назад

      I've also taken a quick look and don't see this program on the NAACLS list, although I'm unsure how frequently this list is updated - sometimes they lag behind by a couple months. But I also don't see on the university's program information page any disclaimer saying that they're received "Serious Applicant Status".
      Graduates from programs that have this status (ie not yet fully accredited but soon will be) are eligible to write the ASCP (ie American certification) exam and programs that have this status will advertise it. The CCCPA exam (ie Canadian certification) requirements state that you need to graduate from a NAACLS accredited PA program to be eligible, without mention of serious applicant status programs (although I suspect this may be allowed if the ASCP exam allows it).
      There is a small exception to this which closes by Dec 31, 2024 which will still allow you to write the CCCPA exam if you graduate from a non accredited program and earn 2 years of experience prior to that date (practicum hours can be included). But that's a pretty tight time frame if you started school in 2022 and this exception doesn't exist for the ASCP. If you were considering this program I would directly ask their program director if they've received serious applicant status yet. Their applications for this year have closed so if you're looking at applying next year their NAACLS status may change.

    What is job opportunity for PA in canada

    • @canadianpathassistant9066
      @canadianpathassistant9066  3 года назад

      I think the job opportunities are very reasonable across Canada. Based on this report from the government of Canada (www.jobbank.gc.ca/marketreport/outlook-occupation/24796/ca) which looked at jobs at the end of 2019, 4/10 provinces are rated good and 6/10 are rated fair (no data for the territories). There are a multiple people looking to retire, there is employment growth leading to new opportunities and there are only a few people unemployed in this field. You can look at the breakdown between each province with more specific numbers in that link.
