I used to love shopping now I don't even want to go to the store and if I do I pick the biggest size don't even try it on and deal with it. Jordan Syatt is there a problem if I go beyond my necessary grams of protein? I am on Keto for more than a year, lost quite some weight, am healthy and happy, but did hit a plateau because - as I know now - had a too high kcal intake. I feel bad on more than 20% carbs, and the fat is not always my friend if I need to watch kcal, so the proteins go up to 40, even 50%. Will this work for a weight loss on a calorie deficit?

  • @drzpapi413

That explanation on calories resonated so much with me.
    I've lost 90+ pounds 4 times.
My efforts at the gym come easy, but dieting does not. When I lock in, I can drop weight but keeping it off is the challenge. Why? Because I fall for the good foods and bad foods mindset, so when I give in to a cookie, I say F it and go on a 7,000 calorie binge. I've started a new journey and here's what I changed. No foods are bad they just all come with a different cost. Now here's the actionable trick that has helped me in this new journey; I looked up my Basal Metabolic Rate. 2,600. So I diet on about 1,400 calories for 2 days. If I feel great (meaning no cravings or not feeling lethargic) I'll go a 3rd day at 1,400. I then follow that with a 2,400 caloric intake for 1 day and after drop back down to 1,400 and repeat. This has been a game changer. Hopes this helps that one person who can kind of resonate with my story.
    Started: 314lbs
    Currently:297lbs
    Goal: 210lbs
    First week dropped 8lbs.
    Second week dropped 9lbs.
I'm running OMAD. High protein, moderate fats, low carbs. No not keto lol.
ACV 2x a day. MCT Oil before training.
Weight lifting and stair master for cardio.
Remember, the minute you transform your mentality and lifestyle, your body did as well it just takes some time to show. So be happy. Because you're being who the slimmer version of yourself needs to be.
    Peace.

100% agree. I can see why people think its complicated because if I ate 2,000 calories from only fat my body would absorb 97-100% of those calories but if I ate 2,000 calories of protein only my body would only absorb 70-80% that might be 600 calories deficit just from the thermic affect of food. I still believe counting calories can be extremely beneficial. It made me start to pay attention to serving sizes and how many calories I was having with small snacks here and there. Helped me break through a weight I was stuck at for almost two months.

I love this video! So simple and so true. I recently gained about 30lbs. Due to being unhappy with situation in life and I took it out on food. Back in 2000 I ballooned up to 145lbs (I’m 5’4) and I did calorie count diet. I did it because one of my friends went to a doctor and she was severely overweight. The doctor put her on a 1200 calorie diet. I decide to do that too. This was in my late 20’s. I lost about 25lbs within 2-3 months. I kept that off till 2017. Remind you I do not exercise, I just am not an active person period. I play tennis once a week otherwise I am not active.
2017 I was having some unhappy life situation so I started eating a lot of food because I was depressed. No idea how many calories I was taking in. Well I got up to 159lbs (4/7/2020). I said I have to do something. This is getting out of control. I went on calorie restricted diet again. I limit to 1200 calories but I’m usually under that. Well I’m down to 152lbs. And no I don’t feel like I’m starving myself. I eat one big meal which is usually lunch and I eat what I want. Like for example yesterday I ate a whole Udi’s Gluten Free pizza and it was 770 calories and I ate one spoonful of peanut butter and I was done and didn’t feel like I was starving myself. And I really love pizza and Udi’s is delicious. And I’m not into healthy food and salads especially. So I eat what I want and maintain my calories. So simple.
I am for some reason not losing weight as fast as when I did this back in 2000 but I’m not going to give up. I’m only 6 days into it. I have too many amazing beautiful clothes that I wore in 2016-2017 that I really don’t want to give up. I’m grateful for your videos because it encourages me to keep going.

good estimate at first, but definitely needs to be adjusted according to different activity levels/body compositions. i say use this as a starting goal, then compare your median weight across several weeks to see if you're losing weight at an appropriate rate. you probably have to omit the weight change from the first couple days as most of it would be water and glycogen.

I've struggled with my weight my whole life, I've been able to lose weight in the past but I didn't know what was the science behind it. I was very miserable because I used to see carbs as demonized food... 🤣 Until I find this gem on RUclips and I have to tell you that it was a life changer. I've lost 24 lb and counting in the last 6 months. It works. And I'm not exercising. I just stick to my budget and play around it. I eat, I enjoy what I eat, I feel less anxious about food. Is awesome! I was on 1,200 calories and was hesitant because following the math my budget was 1,800 and even tho' I eat more, I'm still losing weight. If you are thinking about, GO FOR IT!!!!
P.s. Also, this is not a fake, he didn't asked me to, I've never talked to him, I don't even have social media to follow him, I just watched his videos. He's awesome!

Man you are so smart and real, you’ve helped me out a lot with the all the bullshit I’ve been fed my entire life about weight loss. Being one of those people who used to say “I’ve tried everything and I just haven’t been able to lose weight!” Went to the gym with a personal trainer, DIDNT lose a pound. Went keto, paleo, Atkins, tried veganism (still eat mostly plant based but not fully due to ethical reasons, for you vegans out there who will say vegan isn’t a diet). I did count calories but didn’t really take into account the little snacks. Hands down, I was overeating, whether it be I’m good all week and go out drinking on the weekend. Once you get to the science behind it all it’s really not as hard as you think to understand it’s actually simple. I think anyone starting a weight loss journey should watch this. It’s crazy how if you google how to lose weight all this bullshit comes up about all these different diets, intermittent fasting etc. It doesn’t really matter what you do as long as you can sustain your calorie deficit. Thank you so much for providing this information for free it’s honestly amazing.

Thank you so much for keeping it simple. Seriously.
Out of curiosity, I took my current weight and plugged it into the equation to find out how many calories i eat a day.
I only have to eat 120 calories less a day to lose 10 lbs!?
I have over 50 to lose and this just helped me not be overwhelmed with complicated equations and stress about going 5 calories over!!
I dont care about losing it all quickly, I just want something simple and sustainable.
Thank you so much for your helpful insight.

I am one of those 47 year old yo-yo dieters. I weighed 330 pounds in 2008, and did weight watchers to lose down to 160. I regained back to 230 and did a pre-packaged diet where I ate less than 1,000 a day. When I got to 150 in 2016, I ended the packages and I started gaining, so I jumped on the keto bandwagon. Last Monday I tipped the scale at 217.
I have been afraid, discouraged, disappointed in myself. I know my age, and the past 10 years has made it harder to lose the weight. I have appreciated your hard facts. I am trying to believe that this huge amound of calories will work. I am committed to finding a way to eat where ai don't feel like a psycho. I don't want to fear food, and I do want to be healthy and fit. Thanks Jordan for all the great content.

    • @robertwhite3503

I believe in keto. At the larger larger weights that you mentioned l suspect that you may have had diabetes. Has a doctor considered this possibility? Carbs lead to insulin and insulin tells nearly all cells to absorb energy including fat cells. Diabetes happens when the insulin hormone is never switched off. When you have diabetes your insulin is always high. Calories will tend to turn to fat. The best way to reduce insulin is intermittent fasting. Since keto tends to be satisfying it makes IF easy. In addition to reducing insulin, there are no calories eaten when fasting! Why did keto fail for you, were you eating even when not hungry? We often eat out of habit, or boredom, or stress, or other reasons. Even on keto you can eat too much. Apple cider vinegar can suppress appetite on a keto diet. Anyway I wish you all the very best. I can see that you have will power. Unfortunately most overweight people find it extremely hard to keep the weight off. I believe this is because their metabolisms reduce the calories burnt. Then when weight loss plateaus they give up. Intermittent fasting is not thought to reduce metabolism. Good luck.
