Yeah I had no idea how I was getting back into either of those games 😂
Your commentary was pretty much spot on with what I was thinking. G1 your play to out the leviathan was correct, I wasnt sure whether the shura needed to send to GY but I was in such a bad position anyway so I took the gamble, turns out it does indeed need to send to GY lmao. G2 i definitely went with the "screw it I have to drop nat beast and hope it sticks" route.
I've heard from more experienced players than myself that maxx c isnt normally supposed to be this punishing for the particular build im on outside of the 1 instant fusion, I'm not quite sure I'm on board with that yet but I'm new to the format so theres a lot of learning to be done.
Wish you could've caught one of the matches where the deck absolutely went off on somebody because it went real crazy 😂

I think maxx c slows your deck down a bit maybe play a few more traps to help when you get maxx ced! Nat beast is so powerful sometimes it can win you a game by itself especially with protection

Looks like your karakuri build is mine or very similar. Some notes from that match would be not to slam instant fusion first. Typically (as seen in game 2) if you drop kamoichi and additional normal you can bait the maxx c there if not in a game 1, you are safe to gamble it. It was unfortunate you got hand trapped at every stage in the match but you still had windows to play. All things considered in game 2 with ninishi set you coulda let the tking go through and just use the Haipa to out the tking. This saves the warning and makes your opponent assume the set is a bluff. Landios was correct in response to the first c. The bottomless was wildly out of character for plants to run but also by extention drastically increased the my body value. But I personally think you're in a fine spot in g2 if you just atk over librarian with Cydra and make a stardust/scrap in mp2.
Lastly for your siding: when going first cydra always comes out for tking. Also in addition to maxx c you want to put the chaos trap holes in vs plants (going first) because most of their synchros are dark. You can afford to side out Strategist as well because your opponent will likely side in more maxx c so the optimal play is reduce its effectiveness as much as possible. So without instant fusion and cydra the draw 2 combo is improbable. Was definitely a complex match to play especially when new to the format tho. A ton of anomalies like the bth for example.
That being said early on when your locals starts running tengu tourneys a lot of people will both default to plants and over estimate maxx cs power. So in that setting I wouldn't main the instant fusion for a while until people get punished enough by other low special summon decks to justify the maxx c reduction. In modern tengu maxx c is 100% sided over mained usually. But a locals of people picking up the format will heavily involve maxx c and sometimes even vanities. (Due to not realizing thier weaker strength in tengu yet.) All that being said the instant fusion is typically fine as a 1 of. I've had countless instances of siding 3 maxx c in vs plants and never seeing a single one. So the inverse can be true. Keep up the karakuri tho they can be tricky but suuuper rewarding when played optimally.
