Hey Bear! My company has a lot of Rousseau cabinets, those slots in the sides of the drawers are for a metal divider system. My company has them so they can store CNC tooling in them. They're pretty sturdy cabinets, and get the job done. I'm impressed with them.
I like the big wide drawers and the fact that they are slotted so you can put dividers where you want, yes I would buy one.
My husky box was made in canada, so far it has been a beauty eh. Slides look very good. Shine on bear.
The drawers and slides look very similar to that of Lista and they also have similar weight rating, 440 lbs for the Lista. If this is similar quality to Lista, then it's a really good deal.
I bought one directly from Rousseau, 84 inches (its 60 inches plus a 24 inches drawer cabinet, when u buy from rousseau EVERYTHING is custom made for you). Im awaiting delivery but i have coworkers who have rousseau, and they are absolutly worth the price. Another coworker bought a snap on 30 inches for 3.5k$, i bought more than double the size of his toolbox for 5k$.
And the fact that they open 100% is absolutly amazing
Can we get a follow up video on this ? Would be awesome. Thanks!
So jealous! Im a huge tekton advocate. Been using them for years. Wish i could work with them.
I really dig these new Tekton boxes. They're a pro user box at a price point that serious home users can justify. I'm envious of those incredible weight capacity figures. My Milwaukee home grade box does the "overloaded shimmy" on a few of the drawers. I don't think people realize how easy it is to exceed a 100 pound drawer limit.
as a professional barber of 30 years, ive used a small craftsman (aka waterloo) 26 incher as my "tool box" in the barber shop for decades now (& yeah, if u can put wrenches in it, then why not clippers & shears) & waterloo makes a good box ...but my wife recently bought me a big 44" husky box, & for a shade tree mechanic who enjoys workin on vintage cars, its been a good one so far, its the nicest one ive ever had... but a box like the ones u were showing in the video are obviously more geared towards a professional mechanic, & way more than id like to spend, despite the fact im sure theyre worth it... & on that note, to draw a parallel, most folks would gasp as how much we barbers pay for "professional" clippers & such, but hey, if ur makin ur living with it... but tektons certainly makin a name for themselves... i rekon somebodys gotta fill the gap that craftsman left when they were needlessly "murdered off" ...thanx bear, enjoy all ur videos, & god bless
Yep. My sister used a 26" Craftsman top chest for years when she was working in and managing a "salon". She still has the box but isn't in the "hair business" anymore. She got tired of employees bitching about work schedules and calling off work leaving her to cover their shifts. She's now my business partner in the little trucking company that our dad started.
@@MikeBrown-ii3pt Who gives a shit!👈🤣😂💯😘
@@johndoe-zb8bm Obviously you did dip shit! You took time to reply.
I would love to have a tool box with only 6 & 8 inch drawers to use as a dresser in my bedroom for clothes and EDC. I'm still waiting because I like things that are over built and a place to lock my valuables up. If I were a barber I would want ones as well for the shop.
Its constructed more like a filing cabinet and thats a good thing. I love the integrated slots for custom dividers. For the price it is an excellent tool box.
I love Tekton tools. I've bought a few thanks to this channel. But for that price, I'll be going with the General.......and more Tekton tools 😁
I was able to get mine off the pallet by myself. I have the 48” but in black. I just took a thick piece of scrap plywood and placed boards under it to build a ramp. Then I just rolled in right off the pallet.
Use those slots on the edges of the drawers on Stanley Vidmar tool cabinets. You insert lengths of metal pieces across to create different sized trays to organize all kinds of stuff. Snap-On has a similar system but they only do it i=on one drawer in the cabinet.
I started replacing and upgrading tools with Tekton before I found this channel. The reviews confirmed what I found after using some combination wrenches for the first time, they are nice and work well. I have bought more and have been pleased with the quality of all pieces bought. Is there any word on if a top chest will be showing up in the future?
These will last a lifetime. I like Tekton a lot. Their warranty process could not be simpler or more reliable. Great customer service. These boxes appear to be killer.
I’m liking those Tekton boxes, mainly for the quality and rigidity. The basics are fine with me. I use my pickup truck for the purposes it was created for, not as a “fashion statement”. The 36” Tekton box would fill my needs quite nicely as all it’s going to do is hold my tools.
Thank you Thank you Thank you... i was looking a tool storage and saw your video on the Tekton. After watching the video 3 times it went ahead and ordered the 48" by 24" in charcoal grey (black). Delivery was in 3 days to NC and was seamless. This is a great box. I got my moneys worth. My friend who is Snap On all the way is way impressed and not longer making fun of me... for me its over kill but I just retired and want a great tool system... I am forever a fan and very pleased with your review..
That makes me happy you ordered one, when I first saw these on tektons site I knew exactly what it was and started saving money to order one. I worry tekton put themselves in a weird position with this box and their normal demographic, but I hope people realize this really is the best box you can get for the money.. hands down. Plus you're supporting real manufacturers, and not some no-name sweat shop out of china. Thanks again and hope you enjoy the hell out of that box! :)
Drawer tray construction and divider slots look like Lista cabinets. I'd guess the same folks make 'em for both. Explains the pricetag, too.
It’s made by a company called Rousseau Metal out of Canada.
I’m all about tekton tool!!!! The warranty is just as good as the quality! My Matco guy never has a lot of stuff on the truck and have to wait a week to get my replacement but tekton two days tops
Love All Your Videos Bud Keep Up The Good Work!🔥🎄
The slots in the drawers look very similar to champion tool storage and/or lista tool box. Where you have metal dividers
They are for dividers in the drawers.
You can see this in Lista cabinets.
I agree with some of the other comments I too would spend the money on Icon first. I have a good amount of US General so I’m not in the market for something like this but once again a very informative well done video.
Any way you could do a video comparing the icon to this in depth?
Ima get the 60" by 24" next summer.
2500 is a bit much for something at your house. At work is a dif story.
I like the idea of a heavy duty box without the frills I don't need. That's my complaint about the Icon box. I don't need a power drawer. I mostly don't care for the small drawer layout of the Icon either. I can't honestly see myself buying a Tekton box either. They may be fabulous boxes but I just can't picture myself spending that much money on a box sight unseen. I want to see something in person and bang it around and get a feel for how it's made. I bought some Tekton impact sockets and they are nice but I'm still a hands on type person.
This is a real industrial quality box. As it was stated in the video they are made by Rousseau Metals. Going straight to the source you can find distributors in the US and competing pricing. There are more color choices and you can literally setup a box just like the Tekton offers . I was just lucky enough to pickup a used 36x27 Rousseau R-line with stainless steel top cabinet for $180 from Iowa. I made a 6 hour round trip going with just pictures. Boy I’m happy I drove there for the box . My cabinet is similar to the 36x24 Tekton but was setup for one 4” drawer and a full extension bottom sliding shelf and no handle. I just quoted drawers and will get 4 new ones and the factory handle. The 4 casters have 2 grease fittings each... wow.
Nice! Liking tekton more and more each passing day.
I think the reason for the drawers in a sliding frame is so someone can take the drawers out in the event you may need to move the toolbox so its lighter with no tools in the box
Made by Rousseau, they are made in Canada. Same category as Vidmar and Lista
Nice! Wouldn't mind one if these
Industrial hardware cabinet have the same setup with steel dividers
You have a lot of nice toolboxes at this point to be enjoyed for generations, I just realized at the end of the vid this one is going to your friends shop, should serve him well, it's a Sherman tank 🧰
Those look a lot like the stationary tool cabinets that were in the R&D lab at a former employer mine. If they are the same they’re great cabinets.
They most likely are
Looks like a nice box!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
The price is a bit steep although given it is made in Canada and not a cheap import country, it seems fair for the quality.
I have a lyon cabinet with a similar setup i love it
that was the other brand of shop cabinets I was trying to remember thanks
@@danielbackley9301 i got one used a 12 drawer setup with forklift adapters in the bottom with loads of dividers in it for a grest price i hace a video if u like to see
Its amazing that Harbor Freight packages their boxes better for shipping.
The way Tekton shipped this is what I see all the time for Sandusky cabinets and big machine parts. It's usually good enough.
It looks like a solid tool cabinet but I foresee a lot of returns due to damage from shipping, They need to rethink their packaging because we all know that shipping companies will destroy an anvil if given the chance. I like the way the inside of the drawers are set up like a Lista cabinet so you can use that type of organization system. The tray and slide system looks impressively strong and well built. Did y'all notice the size of the bearing on the slide? I really like the lift to open anywhere drawer latches, a big plus in my opinion. Looks like it has a soft or automatic close that doesn't slam shut and they are full-extension drawers so you can make better use of every square inch. I like the full-width drawers also. I tend to always think tool cabinets and boxes are all too expensive so I'm going to say I would like to see the cabinet shown here to be closer to the $2000 mark or less. Let's face it brand recognition is a big factor for professional tool cabinets if you can pick up used well-taken care of Snap-on, Matco, or Mac in your favorite color for around $2500 or a new lesser-known brand box most guys are going for the used big-name boxes, and their name recognition and reputation are going to make these boxes hold value over time. They may not be $6000 like when they were new but if you take care of a used Snap-on box that was in good shape when you purchased it you will probably get your money out of it if you sell it in 5 years. The companies that are new to the tool storage market are going to have to give some really good deals so they can build a name for themselves and then be able to gradually increase the price equal to or more than a used better-known brand name box from the big tool companies.
Where I am located, receiving something made of sheet metal that does not arrive dented or smashed is everything. Picking something up at local vendor and letting them handle items with these problems is often the best option. I have also learned that ordering things like metal boxes, refrigeration equipment, etc. in winter is never a good idea. Anything soft like plastic is going to get brittle, everything slides around, and handlers tend to be be clumsy when it gets cold. LTL shippers seldom accept responsibility for anything. Good packaging and a good policy for damaged goods makes all the difference. Receiving damaged goods from even the best vendors who will make it right can be a nuisance and anything else gets a whole lot worse. This Tekton box looks like a good product and I might be a buyer if I am in need of another one.
Might notice the extreme tools box has drawer weights of only 100-200lbs, and remember you'll get %10 back on the tekton so its more like $2250.
If they come out with top chests and/or hutches and/or side lockers I’d definitely consider a full set up for work
Yes
These are made by Rousseau métal in Montreal, Québec. They offer side cabinets and chests and so on. You can also have custom built cabinets and tool boxes built wherever you whichever way you want and they will build it for you.
for this price range wouldn't the italian Beta brand better? as I saw the charts here Beta can carry the double in weight.
2500 is a bargain.
Free shipping
10% cash back
So you get 250.00 to use at a later time. Freight shipping with a lift gate is easily 200+.
So roughly 2k for that box. Well worth it.
My .02: The drawers use sealed roller bearings, not exposed ball bearings, they should roll smooth after many years in a dusty environment. It looks like the casters have grease fittings, is that correct? Would have liked to see some interior photos of the lower structure of the cabinet with the drawers removed. Perhaps there is thicker material that reflects its price. Last thing is sprung wheels. If you are a Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic that frequently takes your tool box to the vehicle, this is a valuable feature. Otherwise how often do you move your box? In my case when you loose something and absolutely must retrieve it.
They have drawer organizers on their website
Yes I think it is worth it. In industry I've used cabinets that have the drawer cradle like that and you can't beat them. But I'll get the Viper Tool Storage Premium Series 41.5" Wide 9 Drawer Bottom Rollaway Chest for a thousand because I don't have 2500 dollars. lol
"Worth it" Hell yeah. These are made by Rosseau Metal, who makes tool storage cabinetry for all sorts of industrial settings. We have a bunch of them in our maintenance room, electrical room, and they are also used for our CNC tooling storage. We produce finished parts for millions of trucks every year...Rams, F150's, TRX's, Raptors and Broncos.
Catching this 2 months late but $2500 seemed steep at first.
After watching and considering: Decently priced when compared to Icon (really the only other budget prosumer box I have looked at) however it does miss some of the bells like the charging drawer, stainless top, top and side cabinets, etc.
Big for me for something like this since it doesn't have power is being able to add a side locker that I can run power too. The icon side cabinets are 1" too wide (or 5" too narrow) and the USG side cabinets are 2" too small.
Also, will this support those in the rim of the cabinet without much modification? Anyone done that?
Currently I have a 28" Kobalt with a top cabinet that still works great but is feeling too small.
Yes this definetly needs hutches and side lockers.
If they made one that was 46" tall (better to stand at) with suspended casters I'd order one tonight lol. My current Craftsman box is the same height as this and it kills my lower back to stand there working on my laptop. I emailed Tekton to ask if they planned on expanding the line and they said they don't plan on it currently. Guess I'll have to keep looking for a used Masters series or EPIQ.
So just get a thick mat to roll it on and use a laptop stand. With the almost 2 inch deck on top its about 43 inches which is plenty and im 6 foot 5
In terms of build quality, what stands out about the Tekton is the 400 lbs per drawer weight capacity. The Strictly Tool Boxes cabinet has a 100 lbs per drawer capacity (200 lbs on the deep drawers). The Tekton is simply in another weight class.
Are the drawers soft close?
looks nice - but $2500! That's a lot for home use! Still haven't found a better cabinet than my Costco "Kirkland" double stack one (paid around 500 if I remember correctly) Beet the Crap out of the Husky/Craftsman/HF ones I saw for in that price bracket. 4 years later still no issues! Don't think they stock them anymore though which is a shame.
Tekton looks great but they need uppers as well. The price is still a bit more than I would want to pay even with the discount. Thanks Bear
They also need hutches, stainless tops, and side lockers as well as a triple bank version. Then I would have absolutely no issue buying it.
Hoping they come out soon if these prove a success.
Now that I am at the end of the video... I believe you don’t need a Cadillac to get from point A to point B . I have a ton of heavy tools and even with this quality I would be hard pressed to spend this. I have a bunch of Money invested in tools so trust me I love tools and I love a good tool box too
Most people don't and a good used Honda Civic will do the job for them. Same for the boxes. As I always say about high-end boxes like this. These are for the people who have been doing this a long time and are at a point where they can afford to splurge on something nice. It's a want, not really a need.
"They Didn't Cut any Corners" -- Then, the casters are not sprung, handle somewhat insufficient
What folding razor was that in the beginning?
Workpro, I love that thing.
That’s a nice looking box, from a really good tool company 👍 Btw, hell yes it’s worth it!
I saw your name Tim and had to take a second look. When I was coming up with a channel name my 1st choice was Tim's Model Shop....... (I'm a Tim also) but decided to include car shows besides model car building so went with Throttle Power instead.
60x24 seems like the best deal if they are as sturdy as they look! God boxes cost money but I wouldn’t blink on that. True test is to open up a drawer rated for the most weight and just go ahead and step in it all the way and see if it breaks lol , that’s the make or break for me. Only because if it holds weight well it will be able to still slide smooth completely stuffed full . Love your reviews !
Good boxes*
Until they make drawers that lock open I won't be stepping into any! That thing would slide and I'd break my leg, lol.
The moment you said only one drawer at a time makes this box an instant no-go.
Why do they always cheap out on the lock?
Anyone have a valid discord link? Says is invalid or expired. Please and thank you
The #1 biggest reason to buy name brand toolboxes and tools is that they won't depreciate as much. Other than that, there is not a lot of reason to buy Snap-On, Matco, Cornwell, Mac, etc. They are top quality, but the name is the big value. There is stuff available nearly their equal for a lot less money.
It looks like a great box but I'm not sure about the price. It's going to be hard sell for me to present that to my boss.
Too many $$$$ for the Tekton. Harbor Freight US General are great boxes at very low prices.
I love my US General but it’s not in the same ball park as this box
I agree
You gotta understand the customer service amd quality these guys have.
Apples and Oranges.
@@RhinoAg Agree. I am a US General fan and have th 44" & top. Much cheaper, but the Tekton box, especially the drawer system appears much better. I would compare it to Icon. I like Tekton tools. But I don't need to spend this much on a box from anyone. US General is about the best value item HF has. Hard to beat that quality for the price.
I don't get these prices -- and not just Tekton. I have a 60-inch, 19-drawer cabinet+chest Husky combo. I paid maybe $700, over 10 years ago. I have 4 cars, do all my own maintenance and repair. The Husky is still as good today as it was the day I brought it home. How could this Tekton (or SnapOn, or...) possibly be worth 4x the price or more?
Why do these snap on “competitors” won’t make a full sized box even icon is not fix sized would it really kill them to make a 30 inch deep box my god
I think these are slightly over priced. I would love to pick up one of the 36" models as it would suit my needs at work better than the larger cabinets would. I wish more companies offered 36" rollers. Be nice if they more color options too.
Can buy snapon or any name brand .....fail on price
They look like really solid cabinets, but like the Ikon models, these would be way overkill for me even if prices wasn't a consideration. Count me as a still a fan of US General cabinets which remain the best value for tool cabinets all around.
I'd say it's worth the price and if you REALLY want sprung casters, I'm sure you could find them elsewhere and bolt them on. I might like it better if it had an option for a 1 1/2" or so wood top (on top of the 12 gauge that you mentioned) but again, I'm sure I could find or make that too. Luckily for me (and my credit card balance), I'm not in the market for a new cabinet...right now lol!
If they come out with more colors, ie white green YELLOW lol and a hutch im sold Rousseau has a 60" tech center with 20 colors listed on thier website. No price but you can request a quote. I would buy one hands down. Thats what's holding me back from is general no hutch
i like they didn't go cheap quality, not tool truck prices yet and not harbor freight prices
Too much money for me, but I believe they are quality boxes marketed more towards an entry level service tech than a DIY guy. Hopefully they have a financing program in place. The cash back is a big plus, you can get a nice group of tools for $250.
at those prices they will have niche market for it .
If I was a professional with my own shop and had been in business for five years--plenty of experience--I would buy if I had the money and needed the weight capacity.
Any word on top boxes for these?
None so far.
Thanks for reviewing this. Right now Tekton has DOUBLED their reward program on their tool storage. Instead of getting 10% back on our account on their website you get 20%!
So, I want the 60” x 24”.
It is $2,950.
So I’ll get $590 back immediately to spend on their sight.
That REALLY makes these a great deal IMO. Thanks again for showing it to us. Would love to see a follow up video or just get some follow up feedback!
Its a great cabinet, structure is good deign. No matter how good it is, it is out of my price range. This is meant for a commercial garage, or manufacturing. And I am not that customer. A cabinet for my use would be in my workshop at home.
Nice box I say it may be worth the price if you use it for a living but for me it's just going to sit in the barn and not move for 15yrs
Where are the dividers? The drawers are slotted for.them
I sent them an email asking about them. We shall see.
I'm ok with the price because it's obviously a high quality box. But Tekton needs to make a triple bank (73" or 80") and they need to offer hutches, stainless tops, and side lockers. Then I would buy it.
$2500 is a lot. I guess I would say if the reinforcements and the locking mechanisms are similar to the tool truck offerings then probably ok. But price is prohibitive to the garage diyer in my opinion. You have to have a ton of tools to fill it. I think value for the diyer is still HF U.S. General.
get the original from rousseau metal made in canada, they make the box for tekton.
The US General Series 2 72” box at $1600 is my choice…and fill it with Tekton tools.
I agree with Mad Scientist. The drawers are super nice and I really appreciate the fact that you can get 400 pounds per drawer. But it’s just way too expensive. You know checked in it’s one of those companies that in some ways it’s an alarm to Harbor freight in the way that they tried to provide quality tools for an affordable price. I like that mentality and that’s why I buy from both tool companies. however I am a DIY or or a maker however you want to call it. And I wouldn’t spend that kind of money my a tool box When I have affordable option that’s almost as good if not better and someways like US General.
Proto makes a great tool cabinets. Same price range.
Ever look at C-Tech ? They probably won't send you freebies, but they make great stock and custom aluminum cabinets. On Techton, it would be great to see construction details, reinforcement points and other comparison to other competitors. Flip that puppy over, pull out a drawer, and let's see the guts!
These are made for professionals. I'm looking to spoil myself in the future when tekton does 20% back.
No I don't think so. You can get a much much larger box for these price.
Not a chance, especially since the drawer liners appear to have been put in by toddlers. Makes one wonder how many other corners were cut.
You have to consider this thing just spent two weeks shipping cross country. it's a bit much to ask for the liners to still be where they were installed
Too expensive to me because you can get a 40” slide top Snap On roll cart for a little under 2,400$ retail. That’s a bit smaller but you can also find them in good condition used for 1,000-1500 usually. I don’t quite get who their market is too because if I’m spending that much I’ll probably spend a little more for a tool truck brand.
Just think. 2500 with 10% back is a good amount of free tools from Tekton. But it’s still 2500, good chunk of change.
I’ve been looking at icon boxes for the past few weeks. So right now it’s hard to say it’s want to spend $2600 for a 48” box when icon has the 56” box for $2200 and has options like the stainless steel top and hutch.
After watching the video, I think I would go with the 60x30, because I really do like my bosses snap on epic that’s 30” deep. I do with they had a SS top or some other type of metal top for it. My husky box is only months away from catastrophic failure because I have it over loaded, so I honestly may be going with a Tekton box rather than the icon.
We had some ROUSSEAU cabinets at work and I'm pretty sure that who makes the Tekton boxes, please don't get offended but the EPIQ doesn't even come close to the quality.
Can't tell you anything about the price without knowing what gauge the steel is. I mean if the thing's made out of 18 and 16 gauge steel, no. If it's made out of 12 gauge and 14 gauge, probably yes.
Lista and Stor-Lok are the only things that compare. I will say that they are ugly compared to a nice snap on box, but you need to go to an epiq to get the weight rating, and even then its not on all the drawers. I am shopping lista right now and not tekton because of the sizes. As some one else said, they need a top box or they need to make them taller like a lista TSDW12C10-1901FL-M
At that price you can buy a gatorbuilt chest, a bigger one than that tekton one at that.
pro user here... i cannot say i would put this in my home garage. I hate to judge this unit without having it in front of me but at that price you can get a better quality build on a new entry level box and also get a used or trade-in unit off a truck if possible. who asked my stupid opinion???? thank you for the review as always Bear
Great box once in a life time box, but to much $ for me I'm afraid . thanks for the great review enjoy your show.
