Dr Raygun and her husband (Samuel Free) ran a long con since 2020 with the help of AUSBreaking, DanceSport Australia and the AOC to achieve her long-term money making goals. She is a certified culture vulture guilty of cultural appropriation. I have some thought provoking background information to present on the entire Raygun fiasco for any interested people... When breaking was announced as an Olympic sport for 2024 the AOC went to DanceSport Australia who in turn went to Raygun and her husband Samuel Free. Raygun and Samuel Free brought in AUSBreaking (which was created in October 2019 around the same time as the Olympic announcement of breakdancing in 2024) to help them organize the Olympic breaking qualification process. A $275,000 grant was given for them to oversee and to help them organize the Olympic qualification process through AUSBreaking.
Raygun's husband (who is a physically challenged break-dancer) wanted to represent Australia in Paris but due to an alleged leg injury he became an Olympic team breaking coach - Raygun's coach specifically. Raygun then became their focus of getting to Paris which would make for a storybook tale of PhD Dr Raygun going from academic to Olympian. Money was to be made from books, speaking engagements, honors-awards, TV appearances, movie on her life, and more. She would also become the face of female breaking in Australia all the while enhancing her academic and national celebrity profile - a living legend.
They (AUSBreaking) then rushed the Olympic qualification process which kept many of Australia's best female breakers out of the event. Only 14 of the 16 female qualification spots were filled - all by friends of Raygun. Raygun subsequently defeated Holy Molly, someone she had defeated at least 3 times prior despite Holy Molly visibly being the better break-dancer (their previous battle videos are on YT), to qualify for Paris. Raygun had almost a year to come up with an Olympic routine but knowing that she was outclassed her and her husband came up with that buffoonery that we saw in Paris. Raygun then doubled down in a post-Olympic public statement claiming that she worked really hard preparing for Paris and gave it her all. In the end all of their behind the scenes manipulation of the Olympic qualifying process blew up in their faces.
Raygun has done nothing but steal from the Hip-Hop culture since she got involved with breakdancing. From her PhD in Cultural Studies (Deterritorializing Gender In Sydney's Breakdancing Scene: A B-girl's Experience Of B-boying) to her manipulating the Australian break-dance scene through her manufactured AUSBreaking organization breakdancing profile full of highly questionable wins and national rankings to her disastrous Olympic appearance has all been for self gain at the detriment of the culture. Raygun is an academic poser who has been perpetrating a fraud - she's not down by law!!

😂😂 I checked her scores on the Olympic website - it’s either a win or lost (binary system). However, 0 judges voted for her in all 3 of her dance battles so her score is indeed a zero (zero as in zero out of nine judges voted for her in 2 rounds per battle). She doesn’t have the skills, let alone the qualifications to begin with.

She knows exactly what she did and now she wants "privacy"?????
Perhaps she needs to go back to school now and take studies in how to behave like an honest, emotionally healthy adult ?
And maybe there should also be some discussion about her husbands involvement in the selection process?? This was worse than a scam. She needs to grow up and apologize to the world...and all the REAL extremely hard working and self sacrificing talented athletes she basically thumbed her nose at.

There’s 6, not 5, criteria’s. A percentage is still a score, and breakdancing does have a score based on the percentages and votes. It goes: 6 criteria, 9 judges give a valued vote, you get 1 point for each criteria you get majority votes in (9 points for each round, 18 in total), then you get a final score based on the rounds you win (2) with the criteria points. Example 1(12) means 1 round out of 2 won, and 12 majority votes in 6 categories by 9 judges between both rounds. To further explain, this person might have had majority votes by all 9 judges in all 6 criteria’s in one round hence 1 win, and 3 majority votes by 3 judges in the 6 criteria’s in another round making it (12) total and 1 win/1 loss
So. After watching this and learning of my ignorance, I went to look it up… she got 0 against each opponent in scores.
In votes and percentages in the criteria’s, only 2 of 9 judges gave her 1 vote each (2 votes) in originality in the first round out of two rounds against Nicka. Nicka dominated everywhere except in one other area which one judge gave no rating in the first round for originality to either teams. 6 criteria x 9 judges x 2 rounds, raygun got two out of 108.
    Nicka: 2 (18)
    Raygun: 0(0)
Against logistx, raygun did better with 4 votes out of 108 (two votes each round, three in originality and 1 in vocab).
    Logistx: 2(18)
    Raygun: 0(0)
Against Syssy, raygun got 1 vote out of 108 in the second round for originality.
    Syssy: 2(18)
    Raygun: 0(0)
She may got gotten 7 “scores” out of 324, but when points go to those who have the most votes, she got 0.

So what was the reason she was chosen with this performance at all? I keep looking for the underlying, hidden reasons for why someone who is clearly not good gets to represent her country in the Olympics, and all I can find is lies, opinions and a truth that I cannot believe; that she was legitimately among the best breakdancers in AU. There's no way. I mean why would a country intentionally skip competing for a medal?

Disgusting that she literally scammed her way into the olympics via her husband taking the spot of tons of Australian athletes that deserved to be there. She completely embarassed the entire sport and overshadowed every other breakdancer there with how atrociously bad she was. So bad that it was completely removed from next year's Olympics and won't be back likely for a long time or possibly ever. The fact that she feels no guilt too and is pretending like she deserved to be there or that she worked hard with that performance id just disgusting and embarrassing. No shame or guilt at all its revolting. The Olympics should just be pulling each countries athletes from the countless international Red Bull Breakdancing competitions hosted constantly year-round, the worst Red Bull breakdancers are infinitely better than her. Just so sad that she scammed her way into the first time the Olympics hosted a breakdancing event and now ruined every future chance to be an Olympic mainstay.

I am so grateful that I live in a country where we still encourage critical thought and debate! Her performance was embarrassing and outrageous for such a high level stage! I cannot fathom how anyone would defend her, given that in plain view she scored 0 points by the judges in all 3 competitions! I do have to wonder if she took out the spot of another far more talented Australian female competitor due to her connections and PhD! And as far, as it concerns ordinary Aus. citizens they should be encouraged to question and critique the “athletes” that were send by the AOC, considering it is their tax payer money that are used to sponsor this event! Certainly any person who’s money are being spend is allowed to have an opinion on how and where their money are being spend! This whole rhetoric by the Aus. Gov. Reminded me massively of the Emperor’s New Clothes story!!!

Glad you had fun. There are actual athletes who cop criticism every day. If they are rubbish, not just in the eyes of the casual observer, but in the eyes of the judges, then there isnt a law protecting you from criticism. What I hate is the expectation that this is little athletics and no one says anything bad. How many gymnasts went to the olympics and scored zeros? None. How many would have copped criticism if there were? All of them.
