You can't go to the OLYMPICS of all places, perform embarrassingly bad, and then claim you're being targeted by hate. That is the definition of absurdity.
She took it very seriously and practiced really hard. Hahahahahaha
No one hates her. She is simply terrible at breakdancing.
Dr Raygun and her husband (Samuel Free) ran a long con since 2020 with the help of AUSBreaking, DanceSport Australia and the AOC to achieve her long-term money making goals. She is a certified culture vulture guilty of cultural appropriation. I have some thought provoking background information to present on the entire Raygun fiasco for any interested people... When breaking was announced as an Olympic sport for 2024 the AOC went to DanceSport Australia who in turn went to Raygun and her husband Samuel Free. Raygun and Samuel Free brought in AUSBreaking (which was created in October 2019 around the same time as the Olympic announcement of breakdancing in 2024) to help them organize the Olympic breaking qualification process. A $275,000 grant was given for them to oversee and to help them organize the Olympic qualification process through AUSBreaking.
Raygun's husband (who is a physically challenged break-dancer) wanted to represent Australia in Paris but due to an alleged leg injury he became an Olympic team breaking coach - Raygun's coach specifically. Raygun then became their focus of getting to Paris which would make for a storybook tale of PhD Dr Raygun going from academic to Olympian. Money was to be made from books, speaking engagements, honors-awards, TV appearances, movie on her life, and more. She would also become the face of female breaking in Australia all the while enhancing her academic and national celebrity profile - a living legend.
They (AUSBreaking) then rushed the Olympic qualification process which kept many of Australia's best female breakers out of the event. Only 14 of the 16 female qualification spots were filled - all by friends of Raygun. Raygun subsequently defeated Holy Molly, someone she had defeated at least 3 times prior despite Holy Molly visibly being the better break-dancer (their previous battle videos are on YT), to qualify for Paris. Raygun had almost a year to come up with an Olympic routine but knowing that she was outclassed her and her husband came up with that buffoonery that we saw in Paris. Raygun then doubled down in a post-Olympic public statement claiming that she worked really hard preparing for Paris and gave it her all. In the end all of their behind the scenes manipulation of the Olympic qualifying process blew up in their faces.
Raygun has done nothing but steal from the Hip-Hop culture since she got involved with breakdancing. From her PhD in Cultural Studies (Deterritorializing Gender In Sydney's Breakdancing Scene: A B-girl's Experience Of B-boying) to her manipulating the Australian break-dance scene through her manufactured AUSBreaking organization breakdancing profile full of highly questionable wins and national rankings to her disastrous Olympic appearance has all been for self gain at the detriment of the culture. Raygun is an academic poser who has been perpetrating a fraud - she's not down by law!!
You reap what you sow... as the saying goes.
Yeah you can actually. It is absurd to say if it s the Olympics you can be harassed and slandered

I thought the performance was a complete joke.
That was NOT BREAKDANCING
So, using that same logic, has Kamala done a great job as border czar? Just curious
Exactly. It's like qualifying for Olympic swimming, jumping in the pool and almost drowning.
It was embarrassing to watch.
Embarrassing for her.
@@soniabellamy1950 Entertaining to us.
But there's also something negative to be said about hearing about the backlash ad nauseum. So many post mortems on the bad stuff that happens

RACHAEL GUNN: "I didn't realise that would open the door to so much hate"
She got it totally wrong here. This is NOT hate. This is just the honest comment about your performance from the audience.
People are just saying you are not good enough to go to the Olympic. All types of performance eventually get comments from audience so... stop playing the victim here.
Speak for yourself. I HATED it.
I think she got actual hate too
She is so bad, they should make a law declaring her legally hated
I agree.terrible display.a million excuses.all the folks lying to this woman about her "steller" performance just reinforces her belief that she is numero uno.kinda like young kids today. no one fails.a great way to set kids up for the challenges of life.what a joke
I didn't even bother to follow the O Breakdance competition and from the likes of this and a few others that I did see at a glimpse, so glad I didn't. smh Just wasteful. Breakdancing has always been a 'cultural' thing and some ppl need to stop mocking what they don't understand.
She claims her score wasn't 0... but somehow it's been confirmed to be the lowest performance in Olympic history. She screams of entitlement. I honestly hope shes learned a lesson and her friends and family stop lying to her and tell her the truth.
Of course it's the lowest score in olympic history, it's never been in it before and she came last out of everyone.
😂😂 I checked her scores on the Olympic website - it’s either a win or lost (binary system). However, 0 judges voted for her in all 3 of her dance battles so her score is indeed a zero (zero as in zero out of nine judges voted for her in 2 rounds per battle). She doesn’t have the skills, let alone the qualifications to begin with.
This was so embarrassing. It was hard to watch.
It’s always “hate” when they don’t get their way.
Haters gona hate like you
It’s a passive aggressive behavior
She takes comments from the audience as "hate".
What? She never received negative comments through out her dance career?

Why did they remove the footage of the performance? I can’t find it anywhere!
All footage is owned by the olympics and can only be viewed through their licensed providers. That's why any video footage on youtube is copyright stricken almost instantly.
I seen it on CBC you tube
They didn't want people thinking breakdancing wasn't a real sport in the Olympics. 😂

Why do we have to feel sorry for her that people are calling her out on not being qualified to be in the olympics? Would this happen to anybody else? If USA track and field sent a 100m sprinter running 14 seconds (at their personal best), there would be global outrage, and rightfully so.
There is a huge difference between the USA sending someone who isnt good and someone WINNING a qualifier to go to the olympics
@TheCubingDatabase Exactly, there are no checks and balances in place. This is why olympic standards exist in other sports like track and field. If the best that a country has to offer is not up to the standard, then that does not earn a spot at the games.
0:26 Raygun wiped the floor of the Olympics so clean that she even fell asleep on stage.
Sister, you were horrible. No way about it. Your best is the worst. Don't do it anymore.
Hahahaha. Your best is the worst. 😂
@@pingamalinga Well it is true. I am sorry for her. She seems to be a nice lady but shes not good at this.
Raygun's dancing was probably the worst I have ever seen. I think the Australian Raygun was a joke in the Olympics.😅

I could not of said it better myself you literally took the words out of my mouth
Worst you've ever seen? Corey Feldman would like a word. 😆
My grandma is better break dancer than her. (& my grandma past away 10+ years ago)
Tbh though break dancing is kinda cringe... Even the good ones were kinda like watching those special kids we all remember from grade school, the other ones just ate more sugar than Ray gun

Making break dancing a sport was terrible... she fixed an injustice by performing and ruining it.

@SeaWeed2 Lol, says reality. Woke people are praising her performance.
@@gonefishin4244almost all the sports are just as bad. They should get rid of all of them except the ones with horses
So can other athletes go to the Olympic because they have a PHD in gymnastics, swimming, fencing, etc? Did she beak out all other female athletes to get her spot? Were other athletes given a chance to try out? The selection process seems to be a big secret…..
Apparently she beat 14 other women at the qualifier with the same routine.

It’s been bad enough as a long term lover of all sports and professional sportspeople who excel at the highest level of the Olympics to watch this whole sad sorry episode play out. As an Australian it’s been depressing but utterly unsurprising watching the “she’s having a crack” crap to defend what she did. We have lost any ability to call crap out anymore in the public arena. I just wished she had not broken her silence because she’s just double downed on everything……
ok, Ray. But why would you think THAT routine was Olympic-level? Like, can we be FFR! You thought THAT routine would medal? It looks like you went there for the exposure and not to actually win anything, and if that was the case you could’ve just went on Australia’s Got Talent or something. Countries send their BEST athletes with the hopes of winning medals. The routine was subpar.
Yes, and her.
And her husband ran the selection committee. Totally corrupt. They kept better candidates from representing Australia.
They should have to pay back the 100000 plus in tax money that funded this charade.
Did she also scam her way for that “PHd?”
Most likely. She had her husband award her PhD.😂
No need, it's "cultural studies", anything ending with "studies" is already a scam.
What did you edit in your post mate
@@dddd-ng5yqWhy does it matter; because you're triggered?
Its not hate , college professor w/ phd cultureal studies has no right to be leading the country in breakdance " shes a balroom.dancer and a teacher not a breakdancer , the 16 year old did way better , she used her friends in high places to get her spot she was never known for breakdancing.... why was she there vs any real breakdancer... makes no sense ofcourse there was uproar...
Excuse the Australian Olympic Committee is giving is that no one wanted to go or were too young.
At which point you see what she can do and say “no we are not sending that to represent us”
The one person who was more delusional than anyone in the world....she was thinking outside the box and outside the rules...via not attempting to score a point and single-handedly ended break dancing for future Olympics
if you listened to what they said, Olympics decided not to have breakdancing in the next one LAST YEAR.
she didn't end it LA decided not to use breakdancing last month.. way before her performance
Except she was actually doing break dancing moves she was just doing some of the Lesser known ones and she was doing partial moves
It’s almost like someone didn’t want breakdancing in the Olympics anyway….so they planted a destroyer of HipHop culture.
Break dancing is just a step or two short of being a flat earther

Shes getting criticized for being an international embarrassment, and rightfully so.
Ask yourself one question. Why would Global gas-light you with this story? Do they ever talk about Basketball, you know, the sport that was invented in Canada. Look at the players in the 60s and 70's. Same thing, embarrassment to our country. Glad we still have Hockey. but for how long, with you people around. W0kersters.
honestly when i saw her i said this is like a meme or a commercial no way this is olympic standard of the best of the best in their field
If I threw the javelin only 20 feet, why would that be about "standing strong in the face of adversity"? What happened to skill and ability?
She should be selling popcorn at a movie theater, not competing in the Olympics.
An example of how self-righteous 'arts' academia is, thinking everything is a matter of expression and interpretation.
Nailed it.
I don't think "ridicule" equals "hate".
what misconceptions did she clarify about the judging process? ..okay so its percentages and not points..? Fine, then she scored 0%...what a difference that statement made... great journalism Global News for thoughtfully putting that in.
The 1st time I saw it, I honestly, sincerely thought it was satire .. then I thought this is why it's important for parents to level with their child, she must have probably been overly praised growing up.. or delusional.
She is a Karen
The fact Global is sharing this tells alot,,,,the end is near for the woke. Glad she's not a Fani. You're just mad, Toby loves Karen.

The issue was never that she didn't try. Our issue is that she isn't good. When Australia is a contender in the top breakdancing groups of the world. But we send.. Raygun....
Constructive criticism isnt hate she has the potential to do really well
It's not "hate". It's people laughing. Don't take it so seriously Rachel.
If I tried any kind of dancing people would be howling.
My lazy ex wife used to sit on the couch 🛋️ for about a decade and use the channel changer to constantly watch the kardashian’s. After she was encouraged to leave for the streets, she lost her arm in an accident. Its not 'hate' she was just terrible, there is a difference
She started a dance craze . Everyone is doing it.
Shes got a hidden talent. She should hide it forever.
A professor in cultural studies should understand the consequences of a poor performance on the world wide stage.
Australia should never be allowed to send an athlete for this discipline.
She made a complete fool of herself and a mockery of her country! 🇦🇺
She rigged the qualifiers with her husband. The coach
"worked her but off".....to look like a kid having a tantrum on the floor ? That was "dance moves"???? This is insane.
She knows exactly what she did and now she wants "privacy"?????
Perhaps she needs to go back to school now and take studies in how to behave like an honest, emotionally healthy adult ?
And maybe there should also be some discussion about her husbands involvement in the selection process?? This was worse than a scam. She needs to grow up and apologize to the world...and all the REAL extremely hard working and self sacrificing talented athletes she basically thumbed her nose at.
The natural result of rewarding participation trophies. It was inevitable that some would take those as accomplishments.
I worked my butt off hahahahahahha
She doesn't dance. She fidgets, wriggles, squirms, rolls and tumbles.
A PHD in Cultural Studies!!! NOW IT ALL MAKES SENSE!!
Say that you played poorly is not hate
Some people don't understand studying physical activity and doing said activity are two different things... just because you studied wars doesn't mean you are Rambo😂
She ruined it for all the real break dancers and now we shall never see it again at the Olympics
I am a metalhead from the 80's and saw my own fellow students breakdancing during lunch break. I can honestly say, her performance was on par with a high school student.
She looked like Stewart on SNL saying “look what I can do”
I've yet to see even one positive comment about the spectacle she put on.
There’s 6, not 5, criteria’s. A percentage is still a score, and breakdancing does have a score based on the percentages and votes. It goes: 6 criteria, 9 judges give a valued vote, you get 1 point for each criteria you get majority votes in (9 points for each round, 18 in total), then you get a final score based on the rounds you win (2) with the criteria points. Example 1(12) means 1 round out of 2 won, and 12 majority votes in 6 categories by 9 judges between both rounds. To further explain, this person might have had majority votes by all 9 judges in all 6 criteria’s in one round hence 1 win, and 3 majority votes by 3 judges in the 6 criteria’s in another round making it (12) total and 1 win/1 loss
So. After watching this and learning of my ignorance, I went to look it up… she got 0 against each opponent in scores.
In votes and percentages in the criteria’s, only 2 of 9 judges gave her 1 vote each (2 votes) in originality in the first round out of two rounds against Nicka. Nicka dominated everywhere except in one other area which one judge gave no rating in the first round for originality to either teams. 6 criteria x 9 judges x 2 rounds, raygun got two out of 108.
Nicka: 2 (18)
Raygun: 0(0)
Against logistx, raygun did better with 4 votes out of 108 (two votes each round, three in originality and 1 in vocab).
Logistx: 2(18)
Raygun: 0(0)
Against Syssy, raygun got 1 vote out of 108 in the second round for originality.
Syssy: 2(18)
Raygun: 0(0)
She may got gotten 7 “scores” out of 324, but when points go to those who have the most votes, she got 0.
So basically, if I just choose some random Olympics classified sports. Say that I want to try something new, and just do random things nobody has seen. I'll be in?
Unique dance moves was an understatement. She was horrible and the Paris Olympics continues to lower the bar!!! Not as bad as the MAN boxer beating up women, but still terrible. She stole other kids dreams...
She was an embarrassment
So what was the reason she was chosen with this performance at all? I keep looking for the underlying, hidden reasons for why someone who is clearly not good gets to represent her country in the Olympics, and all I can find is lies, opinions and a truth that I cannot believe; that she was legitimately among the best breakdancers in AU. There's no way. I mean why would a country intentionally skip competing for a medal?
In Australia, there is this law, that if you publish anything or openly critcise the establishment its punishable by the death penalty 😅
Disgusting that she literally scammed her way into the olympics via her husband taking the spot of tons of Australian athletes that deserved to be there. She completely embarassed the entire sport and overshadowed every other breakdancer there with how atrociously bad she was. So bad that it was completely removed from next year's Olympics and won't be back likely for a long time or possibly ever. The fact that she feels no guilt too and is pretending like she deserved to be there or that she worked hard with that performance id just disgusting and embarrassing. No shame or guilt at all its revolting. The Olympics should just be pulling each countries athletes from the countless international Red Bull Breakdancing competitions hosted constantly year-round, the worst Red Bull breakdancers are infinitely better than her. Just so sad that she scammed her way into the first time the Olympics hosted a breakdancing event and now ruined every future chance to be an Olympic mainstay.
What a disrespect to the dance community 😭
I am so grateful that I live in a country where we still encourage critical thought and debate! Her performance was embarrassing and outrageous for such a high level stage! I cannot fathom how anyone would defend her, given that in plain view she scored 0 points by the judges in all 3 competitions! I do have to wonder if she took out the spot of another far more talented Australian female competitor due to her connections and PhD! And as far, as it concerns ordinary Aus. citizens they should be encouraged to question and critique the “athletes” that were send by the AOC, considering it is their tax payer money that are used to sponsor this event! Certainly any person who’s money are being spend is allowed to have an opinion on how and where their money are being spend! This whole rhetoric by the Aus. Gov. Reminded me massively of the Emperor’s New Clothes story!!!
Eric the eel, Eddie the Eagle, they both knew they wernt gonna win anything, but gamely took part, this raygun genuinely deludedly thinks shes great!!!! what a plank.lololol
Yes, Eddie owned his lack of ability. And we all loved him for it. But he was not terrible on this scale. She could still own it tough. Now the she gets is pity.
She has received a loaf of hate and treats online and that’s not okay. Yes it was not a good performance, horrible even but that doesn’t justify the bullying.

“Unique dance moves” is a way to put it
Regardless of the truth either she scammed her way in or there was a complete breakdown in applying standards.

Glad you had fun. There are actual athletes who cop criticism every day.
