Favorite bit in this is when he says he imagines that Hilary Clinton's life has no meaning even to herself if she isn't running for office. That made me laugh.
He outlines how and why doctors must conform to policy etc and it’s the same with teachers too. ‘Professional Code Of Conduct’ has become the iron fist destroying discernment, application of genuine skill and understanding, wise compassion and at root, conscience. The person with the professional standing has been thoroughly mechanised and automated in both their decision making processes and their modes of speech. Already a computer with a ‘human’ face. More than a toe in the water for AI.
Very interesting, thanks for posting this interview. You'll want to correct the typo in the title and description so others can locate it (Dalrymple, not "Daylrmple").
I believe the reason why our society has become so weak will is that over the last few generations everything has been dumbed down as it were. Society has encouraged this pushed forward by the Blair government. Encouraging single parenthood as though dads no longer mattered. This was egsasibated by offering housing to single mothers, the state provides thus taking away the personal responsibility. No longer are people expected to take responsibility there’s an excuse for everything, and in today’s world “everyone “ suffers mental health issues of one kind or another. In my day (I’m 58) much of the mental health issues today we’re referred to as life. When you take away self respect you chip away at morality hence we are where we are today. From a 2nd generation of immigrants and single mother but NOT a victim.
Mr. Dalrymple is an excellent writer (when he's not wasting paragraphs bemoaning the clothing choices of others), but he's a poor speaker. I'd love to read a transcript of this interview, stripped of "ummmms" and "uhhhhhhhs".
Brilliant modest man with ums and insight. Never seen on the BBC because he is of the right.

7 years ago and soooo relevant today 2021
⚠️ Warning ⚠️ Too much truth spoken here!!
He made one mistake: saying that the destruction of the family unit was not deliberate.
Predominately encouraged by the Blair government

Yeah, this passionate social critic and frustrated healer writes excellently, and that's his best medium.

I respect his insight but four years on I wonder how he would answer some of these questions now...
Iconoclasm is always attractive to the unenquiring mind.

I wonder if he's talking about Charles Bronson.
I thought the same.
The prisoner he’s talking about is definitely Charles Bronson.

YKLWEF rubbish
YKLWEF Why did you share that thought? Do you like passing judgement on great people, perhaps to compensate for some lack of your own?
The "um" and "er" dont bother me, but I do find the way he sniggers at his own jokes when giving talks quite irritating
@@domb5513 He seems to be quite enjoying himself and since to my mind that’s one of the main goals in life, more than acceptable. YMMV...
