KISS Rules!
I can just imagine and Young Gene and Paul running around New York, with Paul having war paint like a Parrot on his face....
haha
I thought Gene wrote this song when he was in Bullfrog Bheer in college, a little while before they met. But it would be cute if Stanley the Parrot WAS in fact referencing Paul.
I actually really like this
Yes, its a great song.
When his voice pitches up in stuff like "he thinks HE can", it's like a joni mitchell spoof :-). Oh those sixties! :-)
The description says this song was recorded by Rainbow and Wicked Lester. But Rainbow was the band Paul Stanley was in before he joined Wicked Lester with Gene Simmons. Gene Simmons was not in Rainbow with Paul Stanley.
I really enjoyed it,
You can tell he is influemced by 60's british bands. I hear the Moody Blues Dr. Livingston here.
@evilunixuser1 bullshit, im looking at my vinyl of kiss right now and it has gene and paul as writers. paul rewrote the lyrics. from wikipedia "Stanley wrote lyrics to a song for which Simmons had originally written music, called Stanley the Parrot." and dont try to say that wikipedia isnt a reliable source because its cited as a direct quote from gene
This is not Wicked Lester. It’s Bullfrog Bheer, Gene’s band in college.
Comon guys...this was made in 1970
Gene was clearly searching for a sound in that period.
And we all know where that lead to.
Its not brilliant....but hey:Its funny for every KISS fan to hear
This has a Sid & Marty Krofft-feel to it. Did The Bugaloos ever record it?
@GrandFunker "Giles, Giles, and Fripp" good one
I Think this is a groovy tune kind of reminds me of some early moody blues,,
Hum, I like this song. Its not the best, but its not the worst. Think his 80's lyrics.
where is
GENE SIMMONS HIGH AND LOW
bullfrog bheer
Simmons and former Wicked Lester member Brooke Ostrander recorded a 45 rpm version of "Stanley the Parrot" in a New Jersey apartment. "
Paul's right, the problem with Wicked Lester is they don't have their own sound.
Shout it out loud???!!!!.... Stanley the parrot becomes Strutter...
how the hell did u get this?
reminds me of Giles, Giles, and Fripp
No wonder Gene's solo album was so odd
@AngelBirdBlissKliss7 hi ....
wicked lester or pre wicked lester? I cant find info...
this song influenced strutted
wow this is bad, but in a likable kind of way. belongs in the psychadelic (and cheesy) 60s and 70s when it was probably written. It's not his worst song. His worst by far was "Fourever" in his 1978 solo album. That was so bad that me and my brother laughed hysterically listening to it
Paul Martin's Fine Films lmao what
@rothchild17
As someone else posted, this is MUCH closer to A Quick One/ The Who Sell Out era Who than the Beatles. And not a very good effort in that regard either. Actually, the vocals are the best thing about it, and that's not saying much.
1:35 WTF is that?? o_O
The complete opposite of 'God of Thunder'.....know Gene swears he's never tried drugs, but can't imagine the inspiration behind this little ditty. Hope he doesn't mean Paul.
omg wtf
Damn, to this day the guys in KISS cant play their instruments right. I mean this is attrocious....like they just picked up those instruments for the first time. I guess theyre a little bit better now lol.
You’re fucking high
sounds like the british invasion beatles rip off
He's written some awful songs, though I do like a lot of his music. This is definitely the worst. Whoever played drums is absolutely terrible.
How awfull is that ???
That is an awful song ! ! ! LOL!
