Sorry I may be wrong but I read the books and I am getting the books and the movie confused. I am 90% sure in the book this was all part of the trial, in the book they didn't escape they were sent out into the scorch. So i don't know if it's different in the movie but I assumed it was all part of the trial hmmm

lol you guys are missing it lol they not in a test. They escaped in the first movie but got caught again in the second in the beginning of the movie until they escaped again. Wicked is literally after them continuously
*In the movie* they actually escaped - the "scorch trials" in this case simply refer to their troubled journey through the scorched world - BUT it continues to be a harsh environment for them, hence favorable to the development of the enzyme (that acts like antibodies against a virus) just like the maze (we can call it a test without having been planned as such).
By "phase 2" Eva Paige meant harvesting the enzyme from the blood of the intubated kids to proceed with the search for a cure: this phase was planned later but, as Eva said, WCKD had the Right Harm on its tail after Thomas's betrayal and so she needed to speed up everything - this is also why WCKD sended Thomas into the maze, to push all of the kids out and end "phase 1" - in this way, instead of killing him, they used him but also preserved him since he's immune, and therefore extremely valuable for finding the cure.

To answer the question of why is it lighting,raining in the dessert is because when the sun scorched the earth it changed the atmosphere and climate making weather phenomena’s happen way more frequently

In the second stage of the Trials, Thomas et al. would have been hooked-up to a virtual reality device like those kids he and Aris saw. That's what all that stuff was around their heads. Those kids would then be subjected to various virtual reality terrors to stimulate production of the enzyme WCKD hoped would be the cure to the Flare. They were also being milked for the enzyme at the same time. That's what the blue liquid is. So, they were kinda alive and kinda not alive. But Thomas and crew escaped in the nick-of-time. They were going to be the next batch.

A “s3x-house”?!😂 The way you are feeling (confused) is how you SHOULD feel as a viewer. Y’all are supposed to be almost as confused as the characters themselves. Remember, the character's have NO MEMORIES of their past. There is not a starting character depth for you to grab hold of, just like for the characters. The party scene was because The Cranks, Marcus/Blondie and his crew wanting to drug Thomas and Brenda and interrogate them. However, their plans get thwarted and the teens get rescued. They are NOT in a massive test arena, but out in the real world now. Again, the overall confusion is purposeful, you are not meant to know more about the world nor the characters than what they themselves know. The Hunger Games had an in-your-face obvious "enemy", but The Maze Runner has endless deceit and betrayals; you can never be sure of whom IS an enemy or ally. In the books Thomas and Theresa were a couple and had a sort of telepathic connection. In the movies (AND books), I personally always shipped Thomas/Minho.

They are not still in the maze they escaped but wicked got them again and it still rains and thunders in the desert it's not a controlled area they were the tallest things out in the open hense why they ran from the lighting or thunder

At first I thought they were brainwashing Teresa but now I feel like they put her in the maze on purpose to get to Thomas, when she probably was on their side the whole time. What if she wasn’t a traitor, but still working for them and faked losing her memory? Could be a reach but now I wanna read the books to be sure lol

someone correct me if im wrong, but i think this movie is where it completely changed from the books since book 2 they were going thru the scorch as a part of the trials, and the ppl they meet, like brenda were actually WICKED's actors so i think yall got the book right just not the movie lol
