Hopefully they'll give him more screen-time in the sequel. Heck, give him his own solo spinoff movie! I.e. Luigi's Mansion! I'd pay good money to see that!
I hope that he'll get more screen time in the next movie. I also hope that Luigi will get to meet Princess Daisy. Since his brother Mario had got lucky to have met Princess Peach, it's only fair for Luigi to have Princess Daisy in his life.
It’s a shame that he didn’t get to do anything outside of the climax, I would’ve loved a subplot of him and the luma escaping with all the other prisoners
Apparently that was going to be in the movie at one point, there's concept art of Luigi swinging the cage so he can escape and help the others. They scrapped it for whatever reason though 😭
Considering that Luigi gets kidnapped I think they gave him a lot of screentime. My biggest gripe though is that he's not with Mario enough. Should've been more Mario Bros. time in the film.
I firmly believe that the sequel will center around him and follow _his_ story. And I think it'll be about the haunted mansion. There's just no way a character with such a major role in the main series is given a minor role in the _first_ movie if he's not gonna be the MC of the second. Plus Luigi only being the MC in movie *#2* would also be hilariously fitting. I will not let myself believe that Illumination isn't going to reap the possibilities.
You know it’s probably good that Luigi didn’t get a lot of screen time, he would’ve stole the show but maybe the next movie could have more interactions between the bros
Based on the way they did this origin it was the smartest way to give Mario a personal stake in everything and Luigi did at least get to help out in the climax. I'm sure their planning to do more with him in the second movie.
@@mooseman3027 I desperately need to see a Luigi who trembles over his words talking to Daisy who helps set him at ease with her chill and upbeat personality.

Miyamoto has promised that he's taking every criticism on board. He and Meledandri have to address the elephant in the room: it's been unanimously agreed that Luigi needed more screentime. To a movie executive, every complaint is an absolute win. It means that not only do fans want another movie; they want one with Luigi in the main spotlight. Luckily for them, and the fandom, that's in the cards. In February 2022, Charlie Day talked about his interest in adapting Luigi's Mansion after watching his son play it. Fast forward to March 2023. Not only is Day completely in favour of a Luigi movie but in one interview with Chris Pratt and himself, Pratt brought up a "hypothetical" Nintendo Cinematic Universe, specifically mentioning Luigi's Mansion. The Nintendo-Universal deal stems back to 2015, while plans for Super Nintendo World were being announced. Nintendo agreed to have a series of movie adaptations based on the Mario franchise, and everyone who was cast has definitely signed a contract stipulating that they will work on a series of sequels and spin-offs. Day knows that a Luigi movie is part of the deal. He's saying that he "wants" one because that's the closest he can get to talking about it without violating his contract. For Luigi fans, it's a win-win. This follow-up is either the Luigi movie, or Luigi will get equal screentime to Mario in the sequel.
