It looks very slick, round, and plastic-like, bubble style with a huge TV that doesn't fit into the design. The way to the successful design is simple, Volkswagen, takes the Touareg and makes a smaller copy of it. Why these round ID's shapes are present where strict forms gone?!
As a Mk2 R line owner I will not be changing to the new Tiguan. It is over priced and so boringly bland. The styling is generic looking like many other vehicles. And I’m certainly not paying £500 car tax with a value of £40k plus.
8 out of 10??? I would expect something like a 6 since there's absolutely nothing that it does that it would stand out for. That's the impression you gave us.
Still? Was this EVER king? Please enough with the sensationalism, the car looks absolutely hideous. In R line trim diesel will set you back 70k. Good luck.
Great review. Like all VWs it's a smart and understated thing. I don't think I'd pay quite that much for one, but it will probably be a decent companion. Like you, the minor issues (fogging of light bar, rear camera) smack of poor quality control, something that seems endemic to recent models.
Saw one in person for the first time this week. I didn't immediately recognize it as a Tiguan, it seemed smaller and more anonymous. The previous one was distinctively a Tiguan.
Huh how is it pointless VW stated that the hybrid can drive 100km on EV alone which is amazing, so daily work driver approved even if it's not the full 100km cause weight is a factor etc its impressive not having the full bottom of the car dedicated to a big battery and still manage to get pretty good range with just battery alone. For context, driving to work and back for me is 90km. And with all Hybrids as long as you maintain the Filters not sure how new Tiguan are gonna work but hybrid should last for a fricken long time if maintained like almost every car needs maintenance at some point
VW must be desperate to shift these. You can now get a Match style with DCC and metallic paint for £37,895 (retail) which takes it below the dreaded 40 grand threshold.
Be careful! Our car was 2 days old and the sensors wouldn’t allow me to park without hitting the emergency brakes! Problems with the 48v battery and the car completely failing in the middle of the road.. and now needs an update which isn’t ready! Many cars are back at the dealers awaiting the update! Avoid! We want to give it back
No likey I have the previous Tig I will be keeping that ,This one take the badges off what is it based on the new Ford Kuga...VW have messed up...... not good at all
A 35 mpg figure, that’s absolutely awful - it’s beyond me why all the German manufactures seem to not want to release their cars with HEV / FHEV drivetrains. I’ve managed to get as much as 49 mpg from a Kuga FHEV I’ve been driving recently.
@6:08 yes, its a soft cloth on the rear of the seats so that your 5 year old can kick a hole in the fabric once they get boarded on the long drive to go visit grandma. Wish it offer rear seat shades, even if the shelf is hard plastic.
Over priced rubbish , Vw are not the same anymore they are totally losing it. Bring on China's top car models here, please!!! Vw I.d range was a total disaster. Never again.
Not the best anymore We have a new king in town : Model Y And the chinese are just starting to come to Europe VW is living in the past. They sell the image, that's all.... I've seen this in Nokia, Kodaq etc etc
Good family car or for older folks who drive with their hats on all the time and slide the back seats forward to fit in bags of compost purchased from the garden centre on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
@@podge5555 They both have appeal. Be grateful. We don't get any of the performance R cars in North America. Only the Golf R. Funny, since the Tiguan is VWs best seller. You'd think VW would make everything available to maximize profits. Maybe Cupra will offer its version of the 333 hp engine if they come to America.
Quality down and prices up. Ridiculously expensive now - add metallic paint to the Elegance or R-Line and you'll be paying £600 p.a. road tax. Ask yourself how many have you actually seen on UK roads since the spring launch?
We have had one for the last two years

1:08 we have this model. That model is a beautiful car. The new one is ugly.
Did you hit the footpath post?

Seat Ateca is better to drive and better value.
I didn't think the previous version could look any more dull and boring... but clearly it actually can!
I have just ordered one
How do you like it since you have it now for a short time?
Tim Rodie Drives Stuff : HAHAHAHA the new 2024 VW Tiguan is a PLAGIAT of Suzuki S-cross released back in 2022. Just look at them both from the rear.

I have a 2016 mk1 facelift and its just hit 186k miles and still on its original clutch, I love it and would have another one if I could afford it. 😂
Just re-watched your last 'pasata' 😊 video - is the 1.5tsi in this Tiguan lacking the mild hybrid stuff?
I've always thought the Tiguan was a neat/nice looking SUV, but this new one unfortunately doesn't do anything for me in the looks department.
Another pointless hybrid drive train. Diesel for me
Not pointless at all.

@@boomchakalacai4848hello braindead. How r u?
Watching from Ireland
Previous model looks soooo much better, this is just another boring jelly mould of a car 👎🏻
Hi, Is there a software problem? such as not working when you start and giving an assistant error
My neighbour just got one, her new motability car, that's kinda all I see the Tiguan as its built for that type of market.
THE BEST SUV IN CATEGORI
It’s not as good as I thought it would be. Very disappointing and I don’t think I’d pay the money they’ll be looking for for the plugin 😕

"living under a rock like Jesus at Easter" ... I should not find that funny .. but I bursed out laughing😂

Nope. 41 grand for a 1.5...times have changed
Indeed they have. The rich are getting richer, as the poor get poorer.
Always good reviews Tim. Great work and please keep them coming.
Thank you! I shall
Random comment but what’s your boots ? They look nice
They look like Red Wings to me...
when you say its uncomfortable, I drive similar roads to what you do in this video, would you say this would hurt your back after a bit?
Looks awful
Is this the base model?
Well that’s good timing. Just been offered one for a company car. Maybe not….

See the 34mpg I recently got out of a 470hp V8 Porsche Cayenne...!

Not the German, it all government air quality regulations.

A hole in the fabric? Sounds like a parenting issue and not a VW one.
Great Review
Used to have the old Tiguan which I liked. Appears that they've ruined it.
Always listen to the automotive proctologist!
Wow that is a boring-looking car. Last one looked better.
On the other hand: One man's boring is another man's conservative.

Looks horrendous in anything apart from R-Line trim.
Yes it’s like a completely different car with the R-line trim

Absolutely none, now you mention it…
Actually, quality has noticeably increased, but no dramatically.
Great review as always, just helped my decision making, strike off my list😊
