Im not really sure how people watched this video and got that I was going after Rondo because I couldn't play with him. I thought it was crystal clear that it was my opponents playing with him, not me.
I do fine with the '08 Celtics and Rondo, they're just really easy for me to beat because as of now, nobody I've played against that uses '08 Boston has been able to bust this defense.
But yeah I'm getting tons of dumb comments saying things about me just not using him correctly when I'm not even the one using him. It wasn't that hard to comprehend lol

Dawg i had problems with RR too but as i played couple of hours with rondo, i got it, u just need to dance with rondo and drive it to the basket with him, and assist too u gonna win games
That's not true. People just dont understand the concept of a team with a player like Rondo. If you play with the Celtics you HAVE TO USE PLAYS just like most teams that dont have prime ball handeler guards.
Next to that the way to play with rondo when you dont use plays is to screen untill het get space, show the opponent you are dangerous in the pick & roll and pop with Garnett and he'll instantly break down more which makes Rondo able to float between players surrounding the paint due to his prime ball handeling skills and his great lay up ability, after ofcourse the defense breaks down.
When the defense breaks down and in fastbreaks Rondo is the most dangerous PG to have next to Magic as long as you are capable to keep your cool surrounding the paint while watching other players move.
People should actually watch the real games of Boston with Rondo to know how to play with that team in 2K.
Believe me, if you do, you'll understand.
Larsoboy123 I agree, I mentioned the pick and pop thing. However even with plays, it can be really hard because its easy to intercept passes, but yeah that does at least create movement.
I agree, Rondo is also a great perimeter defender, can run the fastbreak, pick n roll god, slight mid range if you are familiar with his form.
If you can't score, it's 4-v-5. You can't win 4-v-5, especially because no one uses bad teams online

Rondo surrounded by Pierce, Garnett and Ray Allen? Believe me, a set up like that needs a passer and Rondo is the best option for it.
I'm in the top tier of online matchups and most of my best teams I use are with paint penetrating PG's.
They create completely open shots so easily. Players online always understimate these kinds of PG's leaving tons of open space to work with out of ignorance.

About Rondo, yesterday i was playing online against the Pelicans and i have left him extremely open. The result? Ive lost the game and the fucking Rajon was hot like the sun, hitting FIVE three pointers on 8 attemps...sooooo frustrating D:

I’m actually really good with rondo scoring inside and using pick and rolls. Even if you’re guarding the inside, I can throw alley oops to KG for days!
Pick and roll/pop is how you play with Rondo. The game’s AI isn’t helping you on 90% of screens you get caught on so can Rondo pulls the mid range or pass to the the roller/popper. Then you either foul Rondo or he passes it. That’s how you win with that team. Rondo mid is okay in this game. Don’t get me wrong he will miss but when your defender see Rondo is 6/10 from the field they’ll step up then you pass it around. Once they get wind that you are doing that go back to the picks. Also you can make Ray Allen or vise versa Paul Pierce run point for a few plays. Then make them start pick and pops or rolls with KG. Rondo is a good rebounder for his position and defender. Either way you don’t need a PG to shoot you can just run picks and win that way. I used to do it all the time with D. Rose and the 2011 Bulls but it’s easier with this Celtics team because if you get stuck you have 3 shooters to give it to.
There is a simple solution I always use when using the ‘08 C’s... put Scalabrine at PG

On 2k12 I went and mastered rondo release. People tried to play off him but I swear I used to drop 40 with him and make people quit

Normally I don't shoot that much with the PG, and i really like to move the ball, so I find in Rondo a perfect fit for my playstyle, anyways, I see why it can be a liability, but he's really good if you know how to use it
Trust and believe. Rondo is deadlier than you think. Thats my favorite team and I can recall countless times my opponents would give me all that space when I dribbled up with rondo. At that point, I would stop and pop on the corner of the free throw line. If you have his release down right. He will hit those like it's no tomorrow
What camera angle are you playing on its cool
Rondo is a really easy player to use. Use pick and roles, pick and pop with KG and Pierce to create space to open up the lane. In mid range Rondo has one of the best floaters so use that in the defense closes up the paint. Also use drive and kick outs for your assists.
Rondo is a 2K beast. He is a beast finishing at the rim and with floaters.
Last year his diamond steal badge was op. Just spam steal and he never gets called and he stole it 99.99% of the time. it feels like they nurfed him this year.

Bruh this is facts, in my career im on the pelicans with rondo and whenever he's on the court the defense doesn't guard him and the guy that's supposed to always stay close to the paint so I can never drive in.
My solution:
Go to right side of court and call iso. I'll take the mid range or layup....you're either going to have to defend me closer or give up points on about 50% of my shots
A simple pick and roll and even though the pg. camping on the paint the center will bring his man up
One time I did a fantasy draft I picked Rondo and on a fast break he missed a wide open lay up. I traded him to get a young Eric Bledsoe. This happened in like 2k12 and he was amazing so I’m glad I traded. Never looked at Rondo the same again
I get what you mean but rondo I think is fine. His midrange isn’t that bad like it’s bad but not Kendrick Perkins bad, but rondo is an absolute amazing passer and that is an advantage that can easily win you a game
My favorite team in 2K is the 02 Kings. Virtually unstoppable offense
I play Rondo like I play a lot of point guards who have less than an 82 or so 3 point rating and a good inside game. Post up with Rondo on the top of the 3 and shimmy, then post spin. If they sag off the low post to guard you, easy bounce pass. If not you got an open lane for Rondo and if somehow the other teams PG can catch up, just post up down low, 1 or two pump fakes, and easy shot inside cuz Rondo's inside game Is pretty good for a PG

I use the celtics often people try do that same thing and leave rondo open. But as soon as you start setting picks with kg or even pierce the defender ends up giving them way to much space and you can't make up that time lost.
That happens will almost all traditional point guards. But, they all have good dribble moves, so if you know how to use them then you're good

No disrespect intended but you are playing people with no b-ball knowledge. Quick fix to rondo can’t shoot Eddie house, quick fix to no defense drive and floater or pick and roll(which you did mention) but all in all no way you stop a good 2k player in this manner
i don't know about 2k18, but in like 2k16 or 15 rondo could actually hit from mid range consistently, and he could also hit smth like one or two threes per game.

God's Finest I know what he's capable of, I did fine with this team. But for the average person you run into with this team packing the middle completely throws them off, or at minimum forces them to play to the defenses strategy.

Rondo just doesn't translate well to how 2K players PLAY the game, if you play how Rondo actually did back then I'm sure you could do well with the '08 Celtics. That team were a very well coached team with a lot of off ball movement to supplement the successful isolation and postup players. Rondo to this day is an amazing drive and dish guard, he depends on pick and rolls and movement around him to open the floodgates for driving and dishing. He's also an excellent defender, so really I think it comes down to playing in the style of the team you're playing as.
Ok so here's what happened to me once in My League. So I'm in game 7 of the Finals facing some team I don't even remember. So we are up by two and I just sunk a three to put us up. So they pass the ball down the court and they shoot a near half court shot and bang it in beating my team. The man who hit the shot, fucking Rondo.

I usually use Ray Allen in the point guard role to get around Rondo's poor shooting.
If you can’t win with rondo penetrating then the 2k skill level by the user is what kids would say “trash AF”
So basically you don’t play user defense that’s not winning online the right way. Play straight up user defense and we’ll see if you can “beat Rondo”

i use pelicans as my main team in 2k18 and i find this video amusing. since i dont really have any problems with playing rondo. the guy has 69 3 point rating in open shots. i drain significantly more 3's with rondo compared to holiday and cunningham who has slighltly better shooting rating than rondo.
