After the build I'm sure some of us would love to see Buckin Billy Ray put this chinese saw through its paces.

Hey now...love your vids man...all are awesome.... I'm from east coast USA....Just wanted to say i ordred this kit when first available..... all seemed well ..parts wise... did swap out the bearings and seals for better quality.... all was nice ...till the oil pump..... EXACTLY the same issues you had...!! The pump was so bad...i gave up on it...used a factory pump i had on hand !! Oh....when installing the pump over the crank seal....use the the olastic window from a Stihl chain box....works super.... keep up the awesome vids Friend....

Great tips!! 🤟🏻 I just ordered a 288 kit should be in today. I had a 288 lite years ago shouldn’t have sold her. I found an oem crank used for $50 on eBay for it too since many people have said the FT ones are soft.

I appreciate and respect you for responding to one of my comments. And, I am wondering if you could build up and zip up and send an OLD big saw powerhead to my "big saw wasteland" in Iowa. John, just North of me is not at all fond of Huskies.

Looking like a fun puzzle so far!
A basic top end and piston clean up video aka flashing removal😅 would be awesome👌 but would enjoy running it at first with port timing as delivered. Excited for the next video😃 hope you and the Mrs. are well❤

Walt from Afleetcommand has the G288 and the only major issue was the oiler. Holtzforma sent a newer one and that newer one was a much better one. Glad to see you build this the way it comes in the box.

I ordered the G288 saw when it first came out and I could not get it to oil enough they did warrantee it and I got a replacement pump after a couple months and the replacement seem to be better quality and oiled a lot better.

The 288 I built had a nice oil pump but the one you got looks like they beat it with a bat. Even my seal was decent. My build was certainly not an out of the box build though. The top end looked like it wouldn't last through break in but I ordered better quality parts when I ordered the kit knowing nothing out of China last long. 😆

Hopefully some timing #'s of what farmertec sets them at im sure between cylinders and castings from every 3 to 4 month periods they will very up to 3 degrees. Still would be interesting. Always nice for second, third opinions on these kit saws.

The rear handle/tank feels VERY cheap on these compared to even the aftermarket 372 handles. I know the 372's don't have the side panels on the rear handle that the 288 does but I'm in the process of getting an OEM rear handle for my kit. The rear handle/tank on my kit came with one of the isolators stripped out also. As far as the top end goes I just received a replacement cylinder from them for mine since the chrome was peeling out of the box, it took a little over a month for them to get it to me and the replacement looks good but I haven't had a chance to measure the bore vs the piston. My Highway 288 P/C kit is coming in at .0017 clearance from piston skirt to cylinder wall which is actually tighter than it should be, according to mahle for this size cylinder I should have around .0023 clearance.

Whoa, 🤣. Just got done mic'ing the piston and cylinder from Farmertec. .004 from the widest part of the skirt on the piston to the cylinder, that thing is going to be like throwing a hot dog down a hallway. I bet it will have some piston slap you could hear at your place from here.

Since you had an oiler off, perhaps you could advise what does the adjustment screw does. How does it correspond to the numbers from 1 to 4 on the casting? Is it true that counterclockwise is more oil clockwise less oil?

I have the same exact question as you Chris. I want to max out the oil output on mine. The screw turns either way.. does it matter whether you turn clockwise or counter clockwise? And would #4 be max output? Did you ever find out?

Any tips for installing a 52mm kit on an ol Husky 162SE? Will the same carb and muffler work? Is it going to require a different top cover? This has been an amazing saw.
    Love your channel

On my kit and a few others I've seen the carb didn't clear the cases and had to be ground out especially with base gasket delete.

Likely will surmount too if you buy a Rolex you get a Rolex, if you buy anything else, well let's just say, it's not a Rolex. Now having said that, if you buy a Rolex from our so-called friends across the ocean you are likely not getting a Rolex. Now for the average cutter these saws are likely just fine, once they are cleaned up. But from our area (Manitoba) anything more than a 268 is overkill. In my very very humble opinion and I fall, limb and buck 30 - 40 cords a year. Just saying. Still very very interesting build and content. TC Tinman Mahalo 🤙🤙🤙

I'm curious as to hoe long it will last fir sure. I don't blow saws up so I may not be a good indicator of how reliable these are..

I have a blue G288 factory build. Its pretty good so far. Im not sure which is better yet my fixed up 268xp or the G288. I do find the oiler sucks on the g288. Would like to fix that. Will an oem oiler fit on the G288 properly? Thanks for sharing
