- In this part pf the video let explore ways to fix the rough ports and finnish on the farmertec cylinder that comes with this kit.
If you leave it alone it may not last long, cleaning the ports will ensure that it should break in and last.

It's also really cool to see how much quicker and efficient you've become with the saws. It's not as easy as you make it look, I find myself fiddling and cussing way more at least. Also really sweet camera angles and light. A true pro, and a master in the making. Have a good one
Long said and done but I woulda at least clean all the casting trash out. Even on my stock truck/car builds I always go over and clean up the runners and oil drain passages.

I'm thinking about buying a number of those Farmertec cylinders so I can practice grinding. I'm too afraid of ruining a good cylinder (especially on my older saws where jugs are unobtainium), but with these I can make mistakes without worrying. They're sooo cheap. Once I have a feel for grinding, then I can move on to porting my saws.

Coming along nicely. Excited for you and your first child, this is a wonderful part of life. Question: What size are the head bolts and are they the same for 266, 268, 272 and the 288? I need four for the 272 I'm building. Just need a couple more parts, screws for air breather, the air breather mounting bracket, dust protector cover on the mag side, two air breather snaps and a key for the mag. I'll send you a picture of the mag. The key was sheared off and the inside of the mag is smooth it looks like its tampered fit with a keyway on the crank. Likely why this saw stopped working. Putting it together stock with parts gonna see how it goes. Then maybe step it up with hyway and pop up. Just seeing if it will run from a junker and box parts first. I had the same thing with my Farmertec cylinder. I decided to get one just to see what kinda quality they're doin.... It has the BEST compression of any of my saws (I have Caber rings from Farmtec's site (OEM Caber Rings)). Strange, but runs good. I only sanded the lower transfer, and voila, she runs. We'll see about longevity. Thankfully I have to other saws of the same basic chassis that are OEM where they need to be. (Top end)
Maybe useful for some beginner's. But the first few top ends I did I put the manifold and carb on after so I could make sure the ring's were located properly by looking through the intake.
Definitely prefer putting carb on first now I'm more confident.
Do you still have the echo cs590? I don't remember it being finished after it ran into problems.

I've actually had pretty good luck with the aftermarket or clone carburetor , of course I don't build saws everyday either but I do race go karts with 4 stroke engines

Just by a dremel you won't regret it good for more than porting
Tinman, why don't you want to port that thing? Are you thinking of giving the thing away is why? I am getting a couple Hutzl kits and I am going to try porting on their cylinders for my first ones.

Love your content tinman! On a side note, have you ever deleted the base gaskets on a liquid cooled snowmobile engine?
I haven't do e much modding on a sled engine. My guess is all the same rules apply as a chainsaw.
Ok thanks. I was just maybe concerned with liquid leaks, as it would also be sealing the coolant.

I have a foredom but never used it for cylinder work. sounds like you're using pretty low rpm's. what are good diamond burrs to get? I see a lot of junky burrs online. thanks.
I've found any diamond burs are fine as long as you keep them cool.
I like chainsaws.
From my experience those carbs are junk but maybe you’ll have better luck than me, the one I’ve got needed 3-1/4 low jet to run
I know what they say about opinions but I trust your opinions 👍 The before pic on that cylinder wasn't looking good.
Those ports are chamfered... Those ports have burrs on the edge from when they were chamfered... I'm more concerned about the porosity in the cylinder wall....

e esse grande duelo deste jeito é que termina na briga das ferramentas o machado é que domina motosserra parou cedo ali no tronco da quina machado seguiu cortando mata grossa e mata fina motosserra impotente rebentou sua corrente acabou a gasolina
que isto sirva de exemplo para toda humanidade e você que é tão jovem tem que saber a verdade respeite bem os mais velhos não brinque com sua idade uma pessoa idosa também tem utilidade é um diamante valioso se não tivesse o idoso não teria mocidade
