As a simracer of 6 years this is all of the info and tips i have for you🙂 (btw i will be doing this for the other videos but just watching the journey right now :D)
1:55. the order of everyone who has not set a qualifying time, are randomised
3:18. Yes, in some races you have to pit at least 1 time, but you shouldn't worry about that until you get to A Class (unless you have the black and orange/meatball flag wich means you have to pit for repairs)
4:18. well nothing to do about others being stupid and rejoining unsafely, but the only tip i have for others killing you, is basically just expect less of other drivers, wich is well, unfortunate but not much to do about it 😕
8:34. personally i would have gone right, but you also had the chance to just slow down and pray to god that no one hits you, but with time, you will find theese situations to be easier and easier to predict.
10:15. Beuatiful approach, and glad to see that you have realized early, that sometimes pressuring is better than sending it (definetly something i wanted to have realized earlier) But i will say that you were a bit to sweet with giving him space on the outside, but keep doing what you already are, but yeah, just saying that in the higher iratings you are too sweet there.
10:53. i see a lot of people disagreeing with you and i will neither disagree, or agree with you, but as i said, here in the lower iratings/ranks, expect less of people.
    General knowledge:
    1. Keep autoblip on as you have it
    2. Rather loose a few positions or take a 1x/off track, than die
    3. Later you can maybe begin using something like trophi.ai, wich i am saying is absolutley fantastic, i mean just a 1 hour session will do lots for both your knowledge for the car and track.
(Sorry for the misspellings, english is not my first language😅)

Ohh this is fun to watch the progress. As already mentioned, someone else's braking point is NOT your braking point, so leave space -- can follow along for a lap to see where you can find a safe way around someone. Foremost objective in rookies is survival, it's surpring how many free positions you'll get by just being cautious (this applies to the other series too and higher ratings, though lot less chaotic?)
I'd recommend doing a few practice laps with the racing line to find the flow of the circuit and then look for braking, apex reference points on the track. Then turn off the racing line, the shown lines aren't necessary the fastest line.

Nice work, Number 1 rule of racing is to finish 1st, first you must finish so dodging crashes is key. 1st tip is to use the relative box as this is good to see gaps between you and the cars around you. 2nd tip is to turn off the racing line. ( i know you mentioned this in the video) But the racing line in iracing doesn't change depending on your speed. it also stops you from picking braking marker points for yourself. This is a key skill and although this will be hard at first i think you will improve at a faster rate if you can turn the line off.
3rd tip is to watch back your incidents and crashes to evaluate what YOU (ignore what others do in replays as you cannot control them) could have done to avoid the crash or spin ect. and learn from your mistakes
Its all in the practise, if you can find a buddy to race with in practise sessions to learn my race craft and be more confident racing close to others
Keep up the good work it only gets easier and enjoy the ride.

Great improvement! In rookie class, always expect unsafe reentries-it's safer to go around the rear of a reentering car. After the second race, the incident could’ve been avoided by not following so closely in a braking zone; the driver likely braked early from inexperience. Lastly, finish each race by driving to the pits to boost your safety rating and speed up promotion. Good luck!

As a "New" to iRacing person as well, I can say the lobbies do get better. Keep at it you can't win them all. A small bit of advice with the MX5 is you need to really rev it to get the most out of it, Optimal shift point is 4500 rpm, just doing this will shave time off your lap times. Needed to add this edit, that save in the third race was great, you stayed calm and corrected enough to stay in control. That's better than what most rookies would do.

Great driving Kez, especially the overtakes in the last race! Very well done. Massive visible improvements each and every race. At this rate of improvement, maybe that 5k is doable after all haha. I'm just trying to make it to the top 50% lol. Believe it or not, you are gaining/losing iRating already even if you don't see it. Starting point is 1350 and you go from there. I'm not very far ahead of you in the iRacing experience but from what I see so far, it's still most important to race clean and consistent and the positions will come to you. Racecraft and all that fancy stuff can come later. Safety Rating counts in practice and qualifying albeit at like 25 or 50% of the actual race so try to be clean there too. SR counts even after you cross the finish line so do a cooldown lap clean to get easy extra SR. I think for the MX5 cup you already use the best strategy at the standing start but try it without the auto clutch and use anti stall clutch instead. For other cars you have to use the two foot start on the brake and gas. Release the brake pedal on green. Oh and check out some free software to enhance your iRacing experience such as CrewChief, Trading Paints, and iRon Overlay. Crew Chief is much better than the stock spotter although I had to turn off some settings because they were TOO chatty. Nearly everyone uses Trading Paints for fun new liveries. And iRon overlay is the best free open source race overlay that I've found. Great start and looking forward to seeing your progress!

@ glad to hear bro. dealing with the learning curve of IRacing physics can feel overwhelming. Like all things keep practicing proper technique like using the track on entry apex and exit. trying to roll slower onto the throttle to avoid overheating front tires and causing unnecessary scrubbing. Also trail braking by turning more with the braking can be a bit touchy especially on cold tires. It can be a lot but keep practicing and reviewing your footage of races and practice. Always think what did I do correctly there and why, or what was my mistake. Did I brake too late causing excessive front or rear axle stress? My main advice is to ignore the tips/hacks like "start from the pits" or "do not qualify and start last". Yes, getting collected by T1 chaos is annoying, but at least you will learn to take T1 in the pack. If you use hacks, once you get a better license, you will end up being the dangerous driver because you have no clue how to drive in a pack and it is going to be even worse since the cars are usually faster.
In rookies, leave some space to the other cars in T1, then drive at a pace you are comfortable with and do not hesitate to slow down when you see a yellow flag. Mostly rely on not crashing while others crash to gain positions. Once you move to D license, you will have to push a bit more if you want to gain iRating.
Suellio's Almeida content is excellent, both his free and paid content.
For the racing line, the darker patches on the track are a decent indicator of braking zones and the kerbs can give you a decent idea of where the apex is (particularly useful for weird corners where the apex might be really late).

There's a million tips for beginners but I think this one is super important. A lot of people focus on rushing out of rookies, but there's no need to rush. With the right attitude (you clearly have) you'll get out of rookies before too long, drive defensively in rookies but don't shy away from battling for position and learning to actually race with other cars.
Glad you're turning off the racing line, it's a hinderance and instead of looking at the different markers on the track, moving your eyes around to turn in/apex/exit spots you fixate on the line. Take your time in practice going around the track before getting up to speed. There's a reason drivers like to walk to track.

And after watching this installment I can think of a couple of tips: first try not to go off track upon finishing the race and parking your car since it still counts 1x for you effecting your SR. Second, for turning off the racing line the best practice I could come up with was that you go to the track straight without the racing line, practice it slowly (probably your 2nd or 3rd gear) to learn the layout and from there try to go faster and faster and try different brake points for every turn. One other practice would be to find a track with a long straight and ALWAYS brake at 300m board from different gears to other different gears and write down the distance you traveled. This way you can know YOUR CAR potential and know that if you want to turn at 2nd gear and you’re in 4th what your brake mark will be.

Great job! 2 tips, from the first video you made it clear you want to drive well with others. If you go wildly off track, or crash, use your relative blackbox to decide when it’s safe to come back on track. In MX-5 I give 6 seconds gap before I’ll go back on track. Faster cars can be less, but I always leave at least 3 seconds between drivers to go back on track. 2nd: 1st race here that rejoin was protestable. Always clip the race and protest those types of moves. If it is their first offense, they’ll just get coaching. If it’s a habit of ruining others races, they’ll get progressive bans until they’re permanently removed if they can’t drive safe.

    • @SimRacingKez

@ yeah, malice isn’t the only reason for coaching. iRacing actually has a good reputation with coaching before banning. I would say the biggest thing for me which I learned this week is using all the track to track limits drive around in practise learn where the track limits sets off and then pick a line using all the track for the most momentum.... I've really utilised that and have gained some major strength of field points it's also not your fault entirely about the entrance onto the track I mean yes you could of backed off but he also shouldn't be turning back into the track on your line..... when I see someone coming on like that I back off slightly then take them on the next turn it's likely you have more momentum on your side

Big improvement from the first video so congrats. Again, repetition. Do some practice sessions. Get comfortable going around at a good pace and every lap try pushing it a bit more, brake slightly later, get on power slightly earier, stuff like that.
With the "brake check" in the last race, I genuinely think the other driver was giving you the position as you had caught up to him quite quickly but the position of your car caught you out a bit. If you had of been half a car width more to the inside his early braking wouldn't have surprised you as much and you could have picked you braking point alot easier.

    Nice vid again!
Do you watch the replays of your races? It can be helpful to check some incidents or battles after the race. Both from the rear view and from the cockpit of the other cars. You can then check how you could have handled things differently. Because that's the only thing you have control over.
Regarding the race 3 brake check: I don't think that was a brake check. It was a backmarker (if you had your relative one you'd seen his name in blue font), so you weren't racing him. And as you are the one overtaking, it's on you to do it safely. You did run very close to him. I think he just had a different braking point for t1 than you were expecting. No bad intent, just rookies. In the 'lower' levels you'll have a much broader spread in skill than once you get out of rookie and to 2k. And with skill comes predictability, in having the more or less the same lines, braking points etc.
That said: that was a very nice save!
I'm looking forward to the next vid mate! Keep it up!

I know exactly how you feel. Im new to iacing myself only been on it since xmas. Have played a lot of other racing games over the years though. my experience has got a lot better since getting out of rookies and into higher splits though.
I use the racing line to learn a new track and then turn it off once ive got some basic brake markers in my head. nothing wrong with using the tools provided to get better. The only real comment i have for you is your driving position looks really cramped as you seem very close to the wheel. With your arms bent up like that it gives you less control over your steering inputs. Obviously dont go to the other extreme but try and find a nice comfortable position more like you would have while driving IRL.

Ok best cars tracks, combos? Obvious but Porsche cup at the Nordschleife. Cars ) iracing versions) the Mazda is terrific, I'm still driving it 4 years on. Porsche cup car is great..gt3 is mostly boring (that might get a reaction 😂). But the Porsche gt3 is almost fun to drive. The lmp2 is one of the best..older but also great and still raceable, either of the GT1s, Porsche RSR GTE...... keep digging, just race and race and race...I personally wouldn't leave the Mazda behind at the first opportunity...but everyone does... and you've got to make content, so the "journey" might be easier to illustrate with cars as a progession illustration.. enjoy and GL

@@Jennings1810 Oof, this is great advice, I've just found out the Mazda series don't count towards your class C progression, you have to do 4 races in another series so this is a huge help as I have no idea what other cars to try! Legend, thanks!

@@SimRacingKez GT4 is the obvious option, I guess. I don't mind the McLaren and it drives most like a GT3 (if that's where you're heading...everyone does :-))...slightly off the wall choice...and I think a free one (at least car wise), would be the Cadillac CTS-V in the Global Challenge...Not sure how popular it is these days (it does seem to split, having glanced at recent results), but the car is fast and NOT easy, it teaches you a lot...I loved that series....I should also point out, before u take anything i say too seriously, that I am not great...fairly safe, but not the quickest, 2K when I concentrate :-)...but actually going back to Mazdas, relearning and trying to iron out some acquired bad habits...so see you on track, soon, maybe

Look where you want to go. Your car will naturally follow where you are looking. The three main incidents you had in the first three races looked like you had target fixation. Look at the clear track around the cars you are avoiding and you miss most of them. It seemed you saw the incidents happening and drove right to them. Look where you want to go.

If you want a faster start from the line, I'd advise you to hold the clutch in and go in first gear whilst the lights are going to green. If you keep your rev up around 6k and you release the clutch when the lights are green, you'll get a faster start.
Another tip would be, once you get up to speed and you manage to qualify in the midfield, start from the pits. That way you'll be able to avoid the first lap chaos, and most of the times in low ranking races it's all about surviving. If you manage to survive you'll get loads of ir and sr fast.
Keep it up, you'll get there

    • @SimRacingKez
      @SimRacingKez  29 дней назад +1

That's a superb tip actually, I had no idea you could start from the pits! I'll have to google that!
Regarding the start, I do have a clutch pedal on my G923 but I don't think it is on, do I have to change the settings? I have it on autoclutch right now, as I don't have a gear stick. Can you use a clutch with the wheel paddles then mate?
Thank you for your comments and tip, massively appreciated!

    • @Mrp3tit
      @Mrp3tit 29 дней назад +1

@@SimRacingKez So with the wheel paddles you don't need to use the clutch in race. But if you assign the clutch pedal in your settings you can use it as a sort of neutral. And that's perfect for the starts. That way you whilst holding the clutch, you can already be in gear and if you keep it around the optimal rev (around 6k as mentioned) you'll have way less wheel spin at the start, which means less drag!

as a guy with 6 years iracing under my belt, the biggest piece of advice i can give is you go where you look, you want your vision closer to the horizon so you have plenty of time to react. ruclips.net/video/7XiLXRXbh5s/видео.html prime example of looking down the bonnet rather than down the road.
