i suggest the Philippines not because i am a filipino but there are many reason to consider why Philippines base on my own experience in Thailand when i went there for a tourist, the first one is the language, i had a hard time to ask for direction of places when i ask the local since they cannot speak english, but in the philippines, English is used for medium of instruction (no language barrier) second cost of living are more cheaper in the philippines compare in thailand, third foods is easily adopt and love by any race since it was very influence by american, spanish cusine, fourth the culture, filipino people are warm and hospitable most specially foreign tourist.
Peter everything you said is correct. The Philippine People are really warm and friendly. Nicest people you will ever meet and communicating is definitely easier.
good job for not sugar coating thailand and the philippines both countries are great. i don't care about the food and infra i don't care about the language i just want to get out of the western world.
For communication you can just use google translate. I know it's not nearly as good as speaking the language but translation apps on your phone are game changers for living abroad in non english countries.
For both countries: Do you suggest drinking a small bit of tap water so my stomach can get used to it? I hope I won't have to brush teeth with bottled water for years haha
In the Philippines most of the locals i have met buy the large 5 gallon jug and pour some into smaller containers. 8 ounce bottle or small bottle of some sort. Water is delivered everywhere in the larger cities. It's also very inexpensive. I won't take the chance of drinking the tap water or brushing my teeth with it. I have heard people say they use their own small filter system. Bria etc. In Thailand it's the same scenario. Restaurants have water and ice delivered daily. For myself I just buy water . Cheaper to buy water, than toilet paper and medicine. lol
@@MoralHazard-g1eyou really only need to learn several key phrases and words. I was in a taxi recently asking the person to slow down. He didn't know what slow down means. No time for Google translate

I'm going to start using it on a regular basis. Communication can be difficult in parts of Thailand. Thanks for the comment

Stay in Cambodia and travel for vacation to Vietnam, Thailand, Lao and Philippines
Been to Vietnam and it will be my last. They don’t take to kindly of foreigners there especially if you are a American
I have only been there for a visa run. I will check it out. People seem to really like it and the cost of living is great.
Thailand is better in many ways like food, budget, safety, overall quality of life ...but Philipines wins in terms of women and visa policy....
I have to agree with you but Thailand does have many beautiful women also. Thanks for the comment
Nice hahaha
If you care more about peace of mind and freedom Philippines wins hands down
Peace of mind and freedom are huge issues right now. Thanks for the comment. The Philippines is a great place.
Is google translate not good enough? Thai seems impossible to me.
@@MoralHazard-g1e I don't understand what you are saying regarding Google translate?
@@MoralHazard-g1eyou really only need to learn several key phrases and words. I was in a taxi recently asking the person to slow down. He didn't know what slow down means. No time for Google translate
I want to go where people understand me and not to learn another language so that would be Philippines.
Thanks so much for the comment
How about both? 😅
