We sold our dream home: • SELLING OUR DREAM HOME...
We moved to Idaho! And bought a house we never saw in a town we had never been!
Meg and I had always planned to leave Arizona once we had kids but we didn't plan to do so for a few more years. Due to the quarantine and the hottest summer on record, 95% of Brady's first 9 months were spent inside our own house which accelerated our desire to find cooler weather and to do it fast! Within 4 months, we bought a new house, sold our old one and were on our way to the small farm town of Star, home to just over 11k people.
We were nervous to buy a house sight unseen in a town that didn't even have a major grocery store but Star has seen some of the largest growth in Idaho so we knew this was a good investment at the very least!
So far, we love the house and are loving the small town feel that Star offers. I think we will be very happy here!

What's up everyone!? So stoked to have you here at the Active Dad community! My name is Jimmy and I have an amazing wife named Meg. We live in Arizona with our son, Brady, that was born in January of 2020. He such a sweet, happy boy and has learned a lot already. We got him a helmet to fix plagiocephaly around 5-1/2 helmets so be sure to follow along with his progress! My wife and I are both very active people who love camping, hiking, mountain biking, snowboarding, wakeboarding and many others. Probably the thing that I'm most excited about with being a parent, is teaching my kids about all the fun activities there are to do in this world that I love.
We post multiple videos a week and would love to have you follow along on our journey!

Any regrets a year later? Moving away from Phoenix is my biggest regret of life, even 16 years later. There is NOTHING like Arizona.
I thought I regretted it, then we went back for 6 days last month (July 2023, aka the hottest July on record) and I couldn't imagine living there anymore with little kids.
@ActiveDad it's getting hotter everywhere this has been a bad year
Congratulations on moving to Idaho. We've been here in Idaho for 29 years and Love it. 👍 - Jay.
We just moved to Nampa from Phoenix (Arcadia) for the same reason as you. Growing a family and didn’t see raising our girls in AZ! We feel so blessed to be here now and are currently building out forever home! Welcome to Idaho!
Loved this video! Welcome to Idaho (Nampa here). I was born and lived in Tempe and area for 42 years and then moved to Idaho in 2004. I have never regretted it. It was a little bittersweet watching you leave and then go the same route I took almost 18 years ago. I'm glad you like it here!
I don't know how I just found your channel but am glad I did. Congratulations on your move, it sounds like you made the right choice! My wife and I made a similar move from Surprise AZ to Jamestown PA about 6 months before the covid thing happened. The one thing we, kind of, had the advantage of you on was that we actually grew up near Jamestown and it was, somewhat, of a move home for us. We do miss Surprise after spending several years there, it grew from less than 20k to over 135k while we lived there, but are glad to be back within a 30 minute drive of family. I look forward to seeing more of your journey.
Your video just came up in my feed. Welcome to Idaho! I have lived here since 1992 and love it. Be sure to take a drive out to Payette, north through Cambridge and up to McCall then back down to your place. It is an amazing drive.
Having four seasons in Idaho is a definite plus. You won't miss the AZ heat.. Moved to ID two years ago and have not regretted one minute. Beautiful people and surroundings. Welcome to Idaho
Cool, thank you! I don't think I'll miss the heat either!
Get out and go back to Arizona
Happy and thankful I came across your video. We are moving our family to Star in June and we are so excited. Hope all has been good with your move and you’ve settled in. Awesome videography here too!!
We love it so far! Just snowed last night and it is a winter wonderland. A nice change from the warm climate of Arizona that we were used to! Good luck with your move!
You'll love it here!
Where did you move from and how do you like ID?
Felt the same way when we sold our house in Wellington, Florida... lived in that house for 10 years my dream home, beautiful area but it became too much upkeep to maintain. We have talked about downsizing and it’s the right time.
Now my husband and I are retired, living simply and feeling less stressed in this COVID-19 time in our smaller house in a a small town. Good luck to your next house. It’s your family that makes it a home.
Sounds very similar to how we felt! I constantly think, "I'd be trimming hedges right now" or "I'd be getting ready to pick thousands of grapefruits that I don't even like to eat." A simple life is the good life!
Don’t downsize it man. Rent it out
We moved to Star 3 years ago. We love it here.
Beautiful video. Looks professionally done. Can’t wait to see your journey continue. PS- Brady, what a great name. Our first grandchild is also named Brady.
You couldn't have picked a better place. Star is a star 🌟 of idaho, welcome
Welcome to Idaho! just like me, you guys are so lucky! I relocated in 1994 from California, and have always loved it here.... hope you are enjoying the quiet of Idaho.... so much better then bigger cities!
Not for long you idiot. Traffic already getting very bad. Everyone moving to Idaho, gues what that does? Traffic increases, crime, drugs, prices skyrocket, etc. Wtf.
@@benrichards9667 I think you need a hug man. Calm down, people are free to go where they want to go…for now anyway. By the way, I want to move to Idaho! Have a grandparent who lives in McDermitt, NV and would love to be closer to him. Guess what? I bleed red all the way! Some of us who want to move are conservative, I know this comes as a shock to you. But seriously, take a breath.
So fun to watch !! Love it all !!! So great !
Happy for you and your family!!!!
Welcome to Idaho! Just seeing this. We moved our family here to Idaho 28 years ago. It was a hard move but we are so glad we did it. Raised our family here. My babies were toddlers then. They are now in there 30’s.
Blessings!!
I'm about to do the same. we have 5 kids. I'm not from California don't worry. LMAO I've been seeing all the Idahoans talking about the Cali invasion. I suspect they are trying to get away from the liberal nonsense though.
@@armyvet4043 did you end up making it to Idaho? Your suspicions are probably right haha
That home is absolutely beautiful!!!!! I hope the best for you and your family.
Awesome video! Well done. We share your excitement moving to ID
Wow, just stumbled on your channel. Congrat on the move! Ive been consider Idaho as well, ready to detach from socal. Bless the beautiful home and a beautiful family you got there friend👍👍
Really solid production. One of the few Idaho natives here in Star but we welcome great families like yours and agree our little 2A freedom loving community rocks.
I don't know how to get your channel more subs...but you make phenomenal content. This was so fun to watch. Welcome to your new home. Enjoy! Idaho is an absolutely incredible place.
Thanks Brad! Having people subscribe is nice but having people enjoy the videos like you did is even more important! Thanks for watching!
@@ActiveDad dude - your visuals and audio are phenomenal. (35 year old active Dad here) you are on to something
Welcome to Idaho. Enjoy it. We like our state the way it is. So much for you to explore
Welcome to Idaho. We moved to N Meridian near Eagle 8 years ago from Seattle and proved to be a smart move. This area is one of the fasted growing markets in the Nation and one of the things we need more than anything is better infrastructure to support the growth.
Thank you! Sounds like you moved at a great time and has been a good investment for you! That is the area we initially wanted to be in but found what we were looking for in a house in a Star. Didn't think we would end up here but we are hapoy with it all so far! I can't imagine the growth slowong down anytime soon so hopefully the infrastructure continues to grow with the population as well.
Just stop moving here. Construction Season is a real season. Horrible traffic, and smoke!
I love how you treat your dog. SO sweet.
Your video is so beautifully made!
I just love Your Videos 🤩 More Power . Stay Safe always ❤️
Blessings and love to you & your family!!!!😍

Beautiful home and beautiful small town. Congratulations 🎈🎉🍾🎊
Love your new home and community. I am sure that you will have many years there.
Your new home is beautiful! Congratulations! 🎉
I saw on the map of the places you’ve lived Sebastobol. I lived in Sebastobol too. Russian River is such a beautiful area!
Welcome to the Treasure Valley. This was a pretty cool journey vid. What's nice about Star as you have probably already figured out is the small town feel but you're pretty close to just about everything and you've got some pretty nice disc golf courses around. My nephew built a small course out in Nampa for his Eagle project.
Welcome! You have a wonderful family.
What a wonderful video and journey! I went the opposite direction ID to AZ so enjoyed your point of view immensely! As others have said, ignore the haters they are being selfish and likely came from somewhere else too! I moved from San Diego to ID 25 years ago to a small town in Lincoln County, population 408. A town that had not had any newcomers for over 5 years due to the recession and drought. It was a lovely place to raise my kids meet folks that are literally 4th & 5th generation Idahoans and they welcomed me with open arms and hearts. Now that is the real meat and potatoes (no pun intended) of Idaho. I also have lived in Blaine and Ada counties and my political views did not make an impact either way, I just wanted to be happy. Although Idaho is a lovely place, AZ is the place for me. So hopefully I have opened up another slot for someone else to move in and enjoy the great quality of life for their family as Idaho did for mine. Thank you for sharing your journey and I wish you the best!
No we are sick of newbies, crying to the Sheriff that the cows moo at night. Or exclaiming the most dumbest stuff. Idaho is a harsh place, and has harsh people. Here's to a cold ass 5 MONTH WINTER!
Why are you moving to Arizona?
So watching all the way from Philadelphia, PA!! Just came across your videos and I’m in disbelief at the low number of subscribers you have considering the amazing quality of videos you pump out! I made sure to do you a solid and liked and subscribed! Good work man!!
You’re the man! 😉
This is amazing wishing you the best for you and your family God bless.
Idaho native🥳 Nowhere else I would ever live!!! We live just about 20 minutes north of Star!
Your story telling is amazing. Thanks for sharing your life journey with us. Chloe your co pilot there, so cute.
Thank you! Just re watched it today because it’s one of my favorites 😌
Your video is over a year old. Thanks for sharing. We’ve been wanting to relocate to the Boise Idaho area for 3 years. My family gets our wish in 3 weeks and an early Christmas present. If everything goes to plan we should be up in Star at our new house on Dec 20th. We’ll be a short hop and a skip from the new Albertsons on the west side of Star. We’re very excited. Thanks again for sharing the video. Best wishes.
I just got dun watchin your first video.
Now watching this one ..
This is kinda sad all the memories in that home now on your way to make new memories in your new home..🤩
Congrats on your new casaita...
These vids are great.....excellent quality and some killer music and b roll stuff....
Welcome to idaho. We are born and raised here. Lovely area and so much to do within just an hours drive any direction.
I blindly came upon your video. I too live around the corner from you. I knew the people who lived in that house. I hope you are enjoying Star. We love it here.
What a coincidence! We are loving Star so far and we are feel lucky to have landed here.
Live in Tucson and love it! Very easy to get around with much less traffic than Phoenix. Idaho sounds intriguing and hope to visit in the next year. Your photography is awesome - great video!
Congrats you'll love idaho! Great video as well.
Thank you!!
Welcome to Idaho and Star!
Thank you!
Great video! I don't know how this popped up in my suggestions but I'm glad it did. I came to AZ, actually Mesa, 12 years ago from Colorado. I never meant to leave Colorado but my elderly parents needed help, and still do. I have been thinking about where I would go from here? I thought I would be able to be outside all the time since it never snows here. But as I discovered it's way too hot to do anything outside 4 months out of the year.
I was in Boise a few years ago for work and I liked it. As you stated it reminded me of Colorado back in the 70s. I don't know where I'll wind up but Idaho is in consideration.
Great video skills , great editing….really enjoyable video!
What an awesome video... Enjoy yourselves...
I feel like a stalker because I loved your story about living in Arizona. Love your story ❤ and always put family first.
This is a beautiful video❤️
Awesome man! We bought sight unseen also! Been here just under a year! It’s been interesting! Enjoy the adventure my friend!
Awesome! Thank you!
Welcome to Idaho! Ignore the hateful comments, most of those people don't even live here I've found. Locals are mostly welcoming, and if they aren't, it's just a good chance to give out some education on why people want to move to their state!
Thanks for the positive feedback! This video has really brought out some sour people to the comment section but it doesn't bother me. Their engagement is greatly welcomed!
Awesome video!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
I hope you are still enjoying your new home, and new adventures!
Good for you guys. Welcome to ID. At least you aren't from CA. Hope you enjoy this beautiful state as much as me and my family has for the past 30 years.
Just sold both houses in California, bought a house in Idaho over the internet. Great realtor helped greatly through this process. Moving in 2 to 3 weeks.
Leave your politics in CA
We did that same exact thing. Funny thing is when got into Idaho and pulled into what we thought was Boise it ended being Marsing. It was the middle of winter and all the road signs were covered in snow.
Beautiful thanks for sharing God Bless 🙏🏾
Welcome to Idaho! Hopefully it's been kind to you, we live in Nampa!
Very good and positive video 👍
Good luck 👌
Thank you 👍
I admire people who can pick up and start a life somewhere new. I’m afraid to do it. I hate living in this heat. (Tucson AZ). The desert has a unique beauty, yes, but the heat is coming again, and it’s 7 months of it, which I dread. Plus people are grouchy here. It can’t be the heat because it’s all year around.
I completely agree with you. People are crazy when they say "it's only 3 months of heat". I see you guys are already getting 88 degree weather, in March! Sounds like summer 100's are right around the corner.
Wake up. Idaho is hot af in summer. Easy 97 degrees weeks at a time. Been 103 for days. Stay in AZ.
Yeah -don’t worry. I’m not moving to Idaho.
@@benrichards9667 it's not the same kinda of heat. Idaho actually has ways to cool off that can be refreshing. Arizona in the dead heat of the summer really doesn't unless you're are used to hot water at that point.
@@lisashiva1861 yeah its no longer worth it. So many got damn Californians moved in, traffic is a mess, drugs and murders already and homes start at 500K for a pos built structure without rain gutters! My buddy hates it now. 2-4' of snow every winter!
Great video good luck in Idaho 👍
Welcome to Star. I love it here. From the looks of it we live in the same neighborhood.
Thank you! I've had a few people comment that we may live in the same neighborhood so if you ever see us around at the park or grocery store, be sure to say hi!
Adorable baby!
Instead of the heat in Az, now you'll have to stay inside from the cold weather/snow in winter.
That cold can be a lot more brutal than the heat. Bundle up! Brrrrrr.
Being from North Dakota originally, you can always layer up, but in the heat, you can only get so naked
Yes I’m from New England I don’t leave the house for months very cold! Ice and snow have to shovel waking up at 5 am before work to defrost the car ! And scrap
Off ice! Fun fun lol

Wow I love the shots you have in your videos.
Thank you!
You seem like an awesome family-welcome to Idaho. When I was a kid Star was a thousand souls maybe.
Love yr CHOW CHOW dog!!! I’m sure yr dog is glad you left the heat.
Congratulations Bud, I can't wait till we move too from Mesa Arizona, at least the home prices will allow me to sell here and buy cash in a small town area. Wish you well🙏☮️✝️
Hope you join Idaho soon as well!
Dude you gonna love it here!! We moved from SoCal to meridian 2 years ago and love it here. I was told I could work remote on a Tuesday and we were here for the first time that Friday house shopping. Sooooo much to do here. You gonna love the seasons.
Just dont turn Idaho into the hell hole you came from.
@@dancarruthers1567 absolutely not. Came here to get away from that and anyone who wants to change it here to anything that resembles California or anyone of those other trash piles are completely not welcomed here as far as I’m concerned. I’ve seen firsthand with those types of policies due to a state I do not want that happening here
We are in 100% agreement. Lots of long time Idaho folks resent the Californians moving here in droves. But my view is, who can blame them? I just hope they keep in mind what made CA into the mess it is, and act accordingly.
@@dancarruthers1567 yup exactly. If you move somewhere because it fits your lifestyle and ideals. Don’t move somewhere cause you think it would be a nice place to turn into what you want it to be.
So reminiscent of what we went through. Lived in Queen Creek also in an orange grove. Nice big property, yard for dog/kids, big pool, bball court, and comfortable outdoor, fireplace, living/dining area and grill. My dogs name was also named Chloe who died just before we left. Still heartbroken 10 mos later. Heat was just too much. We liked boating, golf, motorcycle riding, and being outside. Our choice was eastern TN near Knoxville. It’s much colder right now, 35, and still tough to get used to but still better than 115. Smaller town and almost mask & Covid free. We sold our house for more than what we paid here. Heard Boise prices were coming down. House there looks great and like yard. You sound like a good dad, dog owner, and husband. Enjoy Star my friend. We are enjoying TN.
Lol...we couldn't take another summer in Las Vegas. We left in 2019 just months before Corona hit. Talk about perfect timing. Glad you left the heat. We passed through Idaho on our Yellowstone trip last year and loved it. I saw where evil kenievel jumped the snake river. We settled in Reno Nevada to be close to lake tahoe.
I literally get sick when I think of Vegas. I abhor that nasty place
On my way out of Nevada as well ... CAN'T TAKE THE HEAT !!!
Welcome! I live in Star. Our daughters and grandchildren are all Idahoans, born and raised. I moved to North Idaho, St. Maries, in 1979 from LaConner Wa. We moved to this area to be close to all the kids and grans.. It’s a crazy time in Idaho.. hold on and enjoy the ride!
Again, Welcome🙋♀️🐴👩🌾👩🎨
Thank you! Looking forward to exploring everything this beautiful state has to offer, especially up north!
I bet you’re loving the snow we’re getting right now
So stoked on today's snow!! 😃
What a nicely done video, very cool home
Omg and here I am from the beautiful Seattle Surburb and have been thinking of relocating to Scottsdale 🤩
Good luck with your move and the new town
Thanks! It feels more like home every day.
The "grass is always greener" on the other side. Many people move south or to warmer climates to escape the winter. That being said, I hope your move has gone well and that you have enjoyed everything Idaho has to offer!
My brother left Dana Point, CA for Idaho and never looked back. They love it. We left CA for Texas in 2004 and have never been back.
This. New. House. ESTA. SUPER !!!...😍
We live in Phoenix and want to relocate to ID as well. The summers here are terrible and we have a 5 year old. Thank you for this video
Keep Idaho red
@@jolenebordewick6168 completely agree !! We haven’t made the move yet but we are very Red !
Just closed on a house sight unseen also in Emmett. A little scarcely moving to a place I have never been but exciting. Have a few different friends that already moved to the area around there and trust them I will like it.
Great content!
Thank you!
That was a cool video. Great job! From Nampa Idaho
Thank you!
Enjoy the small town.
Star, Idaho is awesome!!!
wow, such a cool family! welcome to Idaho or as I call it IdaHOME.
So glad I came across your channel! I just moved from SoCal and got my first condo in the Phoenix (East Camelback) area! Your videos are so good and very entertaining! It is so cool to see your family's journey through life. Good luck with the move and settling in! All that scenery in Idaho looks so nice. Can't wait for the next video!
Thank you Luke! I seriously loved it there while we lived there but it is so nice to be in the cold/snow where it feels like the holidays and winter. We actually lived in a condo in midtown on 7th st and Osborn for many years and loved it over there! I used to ride my bike to Diamondbacks games. Good luck in Phoenix!
Hope Idaho is Treating you well! Love your son's name too!
hahahah! I randomly watched this video and I live literally a block or two from you lol So, my wife and I essentially did a blind move as well, from WA. The housing market is so hot in Star that we bought our home when only the frame completed. Other than that we bought our blind too. We spent 5 days in Boise area and fell in love sold our other home immediately. ZERO regrets!
Good to know! No complaints from us! I think a lot of people are having to buy sight unseen if they are moving from out of state.
Josh we are in process to move to idaho from Washington. Was it a good move for u? How is the culture? How is the atmosphere? We are so excited. But we are making several trips to really get a feel. Been in Washington most of ojr lives but its definitely time to move to safety and peace. Thoughts?
Was thinking of moving TO Washington...mostly because I'm going to school at UW (but it's once a month so we can live anywhere)...we were thinking WA because of the fact that it has the WATER AND the Mountains. Do you think Idaho is something we should look at instead?
Fine. Just dont try and change Idaho. We like how it is.
Honda Element, it's what I drive...you can go anywhere in that car, with no problems!...good luck bruh in your next chapter, Idaho is a great place to move to!
Congrats
Personal advice: change your plates ASAP. Locals are being driven out by transplant housing demand and you may find yourself on the unfortunate end of a vandalism. Most of us are friendly, but there is some tension when locals can barely afford rent due to the current market. And yes, this has been caused by the influx of those with better pay from other states. Sad that individuals are judged based on mass change, but if you want to avoid being a target: blend in, don't Cali Idaho and you'll be g2g.
Yeah. Out of staters are mostly condescending opportunists who should stay home and vote to make their shit hole of a state more like Idaho. But it is our fellow Idahoans who are cashing in at the expense of our children and neighbors.
well and they bring their crappy socialist democrat ideology with them too...
Living in Oregon, Californian's are hated!!!!!
@@debmadden4157 We hate them in Denver too.
Enjoyed your journey...we arrived in Star a year ago. Looks like we might live close. We are across from skate park and our daughter by Blake Street park Welcome
Thank you! It's been fun to have people comment saying they live near us. If you ever happen to see us around, be sure to say hi! :D
Impressive! Trails in Idaho are sick! Not many people which is so peaceful.
I’m personally looking into getting something in the mountains here in Colorado or Wyoming. I came out here about two years ago now.
Has its challenges being I’m not from here, single father all that but it’s been worth it so far white water rafting downhill mountain biking all those kind of things.
Keep the videos coming man and keep that family safe.
Thank you! I haven't been able to check out the local trails yet but I've heard some good things about the local trails. Might have to wait until next season at this point. I haven't had too much exposure to white water rafting but I think it's something I could get into!
I use to live in star idaho I loved it there
I know it’s been a while since you’ve moved. Welcome to Idaho , the best state in America.
I wish you the best. I remember leaving Chandler/ Sun Lakes in 2013. Mesa has a great German restaurant that we used to eat at calked Bavarian Point. I am in Reno Nevada now but Phoenix area has better restaurants. Northern Nevada has a better climate. Your house is really cute.
Congratulations, you did the right thing!
We made the move 5 years ago and love Idaho.
Welcome to Idaho I personally love this state
