    For insomnia I suggest: 1. Read boring book, 2. Read words of wisdom (Spiritual text of choice), 3. Do full body relaxation and/or breathing techniques. 4. Resist viewing all devices 1 hr before bed.

    Some day we will have a medication for every person. I found another video on RUclips about 5-HTP. I decided to take it because I sleep about 3 to 4 hours every night, but not continuously. Not only that, but I also took two 10 mg melatonin pills all together and nothing happened. I was trying to stop Diphenhydramine, which makes me sleep. This medication does not work for me, neither the melatonin. We're different, most people don't drink coffee in the afternoon because it affects sleep pattern, I can drink 500 ml of coffee and sleep right away.

      this is a lot of unnoticed bad habbits, no coffee past 4pm and no melatonin. only melatonin for jet lag its a scam

    I tried this and i regret doing it. I took one tablet at 9pm , went to bed at 10pm I feel very sleepy my eyes really hurt because i was so tired BUT i could NOT sleep at all. Change position over and over until i finally fall to sleep at 5AM yes 5AM and i had to get up 2h later !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Try wearing blue light blocker glasses 1.5 hours before bed .
    You will be amazed!

      I have f.lux installed on all of my devices. My screens never go above "incandescent." I sleep better than literally everyone I know and my eye strain completely went away.

    Walnuts have melatonin. peanut butter might give you nightmares. teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in water supposed to help.

    ! was having restless sleep with anxious dreams.. not deep sleep. I heard this would help. I took one 400mg and slept like a baby. However the next day I had the runs all day. Not touching this stuff again. brutal effect on digestive system

      400 mg is a lot based on what I researched…I think they reco like 50-100 when you’re first starting off. 😅

    Hello Doctor..I suffer from anxiety and tension when I face a problem. My body trembles, my heartbeat increases, and I feel difficult to speak. . I tried beta-blockers and my condition improved a lot..but I suffer from bronchiectasis and phlegm, which negatively affected my health..Are there nutritional supplements or herbs that work like beta-blockers?

    How long does it take for it to have an effect on you?
    I've read that it works instantly but also that you have to take it for several days/weeks for it to give an effect (similar to ssri's)?
    If I wanted to take it the day after a night out to feel a bit more up beat, would it work?

      I took 100-300mg of 5HTP right before I sleep, and I felt it on the first night. Very vivid dreams and I slept very deeply.

      To answer your question it does not work like SSRIs which build up in your system it works immediately and leaves your body immediately hence a much safer choice due to no dependency. Hope this helps

      I just took it today fir the fist time fir anxiety and omg it really worked. Trust me it’s not a placebo effect, because I tried lots of things. But, keep in mind I took a high dose. First time in forever that I don’t have anxiety, and it also gave me a slightly happy feeling

    Hi Rick, quick question. Someone recommended to me to have it in the morning. Will that make me somnolent during the day? And any natural sources of it out there? Or tryptophan? Cheers ;)

      For insomnia you can take it at night.
      It can also be taken in the morning to help reduce daytime anxiety - it shouldn’t make you sleepy during the day but it should help you relax.
      Of course if you take a high dose this may lead to sleepiness.
      Organic eggs, organic dairy, peanuts, peanut butter, sunflower seeds are good sources as is fish and turkey.
      Griffonia seeds are used commercially to produce 5HTP.

    Is it safe to take 800mg + in one go? I have found that taking it seems to improve my sleep, but only when I take 2 or 3 tablets at once.

      Stay less then 400mg too
      Much can hurt you down the line

      yes, it can really mess up neruochemical balances,take it sparingly but NOT NOT TAKE LONG TERM! it can mess you up, supplument companies are not being truthful

      @@samuelaubrey2612 has to be balanced with other nutrients. Too much serotonin can deplete dopamine. And there are other cofactors

    I’m in the hospital as we speak because of 5HTP. I’ve been having the worst panic attacks I’ve ever had in my life throughout the past week, considering that I’ve only consumed the lowest dosage (100mg every 12hrs). Not to mention being dizzy all day. The worst mistake of my life!

    Make sure that you're not iron deficient or 5htp won't work the way you want it to.

      Depends from person to person but im on 400mg 5-HTP(200mg in the morning and 200mg before bedtime) and 800mg Dopa Mucuna full dose in the morning empty stomach.
      helped with anxiety and soften depression they are some nice tools to use but id also suggest getting exercise (cardio) and look over your diet.
