Lotus used to be for speed add lightness…guess at 2.5 tonnes that’s gone out the window. That’s one thing I don’t get with EV’s…2.5 tones of material is 2.5 ton of resources no matter how green you want to call it. Roads, tires, brakes, roadside furniture…all take a hammering while we kid ourselves we are being environmental 🤪. Enjoy it for the fun of driving and entertainment…but green? 😜 Thanks for enjoying the car, and not making the record a climate change bash ev reviews normally become
Almost bought one and had one out over a weekend, having owned an EV at the time I was still shocked how the acceleration builds in the Eletre which was the complete opposite to what you experience normally. Had Lotus given the car the normal instant acceleration the Eletre could easily do a sub 4 seconds to 60mph but the way it actually builds makes it all the more special.
Im deciding between this Lotus Eltre and Tesla model S plaid. The main reason for Eltre is it being an SUV with heart wrenching beauty l, while Model S is everything else, technology, aftersales support, technological support, speed, and mainly the PRICE!!
I know what you mean. Although this was extremely capable, I don't think I'd ever want to buy one. If I had $230k to spend on a car, I can think of a whole heap I would buy before this. Not that it's bad but it is missing the desirability that I usually feel for very high-end vehicles. Maybe the 900hp R variant is the go 😁
It's kinda cool but the price is wacky and it's really not a Lotus. Colin Chapman would NOT have released that vehicle. It will be exclusive I'm sure - but it will lose value at a terrifying rate I'm sure...
Well, to be fair, if you owned the car you'd have the app already on your phone. It's just that this is a press car and I wasn't fully 'connected' etc. But yeah, sometimes the older ways are best.
I just went from a car with a key to one with a pushbutton start and keyless entry, and it's one of the things I appreciate most about the change. No more fumbling about for the key, just grab the door handle and open the door.
@@nathansmith6914 but you're still carrying the key fob so the only difference is sticking a key in the ignition. Big deal I'll gladly take that over geting stuck because a battery died in my half assed fake key.. Also the car is more easily stolen
@@gort3969 that isn't the only difference. The key just sits in your pocket, you don't have to find it either to open the car or start it. I'm in and out of the car all day and it's a big difference.
The flat bettery is exactly why they all need to come with a mechanical key.
Gee that 60 to 100 time is out there!

The era of the "supercar" is coming to an end in the age of electrification.
This isn't anywhere near supercar level performance and EVs can't surpass a 300kph top speed.
@@bens6674 watch the video. You’ll know what this is about. In the meantime when did you become the supercar classification expert? 🤫
How much do you have to spend to get a car with actual A/C controls? 300K?

Could never aspire to owning something like the Eletre despite its speed.

Oh no Lotus did not!
A simple key barrel door lock would have negated the first 3 minutes of electrical issues you encountered. Definitely a deal breaker for some.

Ridiculous car
230k and it's not even the top speck. I bet it will depreciate to half price as soon as you leave the car yard.
Quick, but overstyled and ugly.
I'll take a normal key any day. The push button starts and keyless entry is nothing but useless marketing horseshit
