In that case he surprisingly trnaslated it (technically) right. Her CT has a double meaning, the kanji used, when read literally, do mean star rage. Of course he still should have kept the intended pronunciation and just added a translator's note with the secondary meaning.

He then in fact loses and that's how the meme was born. You're supposed to say the opposite of the outcome. If gojo said "Nah, I'd lose" then the original poster would be correct. But he's not. And you're not correct either for trying to explain it.
I loved it when gojo and geto used cursed spirit manipulation throughout the series. Gojo especially when he pounded and then swallowed hanami and jogo, truly a jujutsu kaisen moment

I use either *Mangakalot* or *MangaDex* . The translations of JJK there are correct. Gojo meant to say " Why can't I unleash blackflash whenever I want even with 6 eyes...." but now I'm seeing all over the internet saying Gojo can't use blackflash bcoz of 6 eyes wtf 😅😅

" *GARBHADHATU* " is a Sanskrit/Hindi/Bengali word which is referred to a pregnant women where GARBHA means Womb & DHATU means realm.
That explains, but it removes the "coolness" effect of using different languages
"GorbhoDhatu" would be the Bengali pronunciation. But the writing is correct.

There are so many nuances that get lost in the English translations. Japanese is such a complex language and it's a pity that officials can't fully convey what Gege wants to tell us. Like the one with Choso you mentioned in chapter 256....the characters' personality just gets lost. I've started taking learning Japanese more seriously just so I can understand Gege's vision better

I was literally waiting for the official translation of the chapter 256 manga after I read the "fanlation", because I thought I'd get more context and a better explanation about what Gojo really meant during that whole sequence, but I just ended up getting more confused. The moment I read it I knew they didn't even try to translate it correctly.
I subscribe to shonen jump, but I always read from TCB for these reasons. It's really disheartening that I can't own the English JJK physical copies without miss translations.
You know the guy doesn't read or care about the series he's translating when he makes such egregious factual errors.

Bro, this problem is not just in jujutsu kaisen, and because I do read all the other manga translated by Viz media, I can tell... it is not just John werry fault, the problem is the entire Viz media company. all the other manga has mistranslations in every chapter. every manga is translated by a different person, it is impossible to think that all the translators there are that bad in Japanese to make mistakes in every chapter. my guess is that Viz media asks on purpose to the translators make bad translations. besides English, I also know Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, and I check the chapters translations for this two other languages, and the translations in Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese are 100% correct in every chapter. the translations for these other languages are made by different companies. Viz media just do English translations, you see?! the problem is just with Viz, is not the translators, there's no way that all the 50+ translator's that works in Viz make mistranslations on purpose or because they sucks in Japanese, that even fans around the world know Japanese better than them.
This is why I was so confused with what was going on for the last couple of years. Once i switched to TCB the story just started making more sense

My wife is Japanese, and i can tell you that even the subtitles on the anime are very often incorrect and/or missing details and nuance
Note: This is not an issue specific to JJK. It's prevalent in nearly all anime and manga that gets translated to English, even the official translations

You've got to understand this and really, really understand what I'm about to say. They make millions of dollars even while the guy screws up the translations, so why fire him and have to most likely pay more for a better translator? Maki’s line after her second awakening in 196 was awesome in the fan translations. The Viz translation really felt off in the wording and didn’t give me goosebumps like the fan translations. “I’m at my best!” Vs “I feel great/amazing!” it’s no contest IMO that the latter fan translations are better.

This happens abit more than just in the instance of JJK, I believe I recall another creator by the name of Jakez123 saying that the translation of Re:zero does this frequently too.
It’s really unfortunate that these things happen, and I don’t think that it should even be possible to miss things like this.
Why not hire some massive fans of some series - JJk for example - to make sure that things like this don’t happen?

It’s not just mistranslations, even the stuff that’s right is worded terribly. I’ll often find myself rereading CASUAL dialogue because it’s written so bizarrely like it doesn’t read like natural human speech.

Edit: watched a bit and saw the controversy. However, Harima’s the artist’s name kanji is the same as the one used in the manga so I think that’s where the translation got the idea from

so since I am reading JJK manga in Spanish I now know we the spanish fans never had that problem, meaning the fans translators are also better than thr officials, kinda funny situation, but I have noticed some techniques names are translations from the english manga but that only happens when a youtuber waits for the official translation and not for the leaks

Honestly this is the first time I read the TCB then the official and felt let down. Dozen of times I've felt like many RUclipsrs only read the scans of practically everything because it's certainly the info the source the mort or at least remember the best but between the first and last page of 256 I walked away from what was one of my favorite chapters sorta ripped off xD
