I am on day 15 with this book and it is invaluable. I have learned so much and my drawing is much better even though I have not drawn in decades.

I bought a copy of the book for US$16 from Abebooks, I'm very pleased with it - today I'm starting, because I have exactly 2 months to finish my first work of art to go into the annual painting competition run by our local book shop, which is also the cultural centre of our little village. In my acceptance speech I will tell everyone you are my teacher!

Im going through this book. Got stumped a bit with lesson 6. Like, I know the bottom box's top would be wider than the top box coz we can see more of it but I end up making it the same dimension as the top box.

Does it get as far as 'likeness' in portraits? After your Liv Tyler portrait I think you can draw as well as anyone I know.
There are a few lessons on human faces, yes. (Thanks for the kind words by the way). Even if I can draw from a reference (reproduce what I see) this book makes me understand how to construct a drawing, how light works, tricks to convey depth, so that I can eventually draw from imagination instead of always needing a reference. Right now, I can't draw from imagination at all and a lot of the concepts in the book are new and really useful information to me. I find figurative drawing tedious but I want to learn to love it :o)
