      😂😂 I figured the truck from the movie Duel was suiting to how we were treated by the lead truck of that group.
      My brother, being a trucker gave so many excuses of it’s all in my head. But we caught up to them again crossing all of the railway crossings and the lead trucker blatantly tried to not let my brother pass after I did. That time, once we stopped for the night my brother said “I thought you were kidding but nope…..that guy’s just an asshole!”
      I’m glad you got a kick out of the Duel reference. Cheers!

    So crazy right beside the river outlet, it's the EXACT same spot i pitched my tent on July 23, 2023... oh and I was riding my 2014 CB500X with RR suspension on Shinko 705s

    Its wild how built up that town was before it was all taken down. There were some major buildings there. Watching your adventures makes me realize that I need to plan more sightseeing stops on mine for sure. I usually get so caught up on the ride that I spend 100% of the day in the saddle and I'm starting to think I'm missing a lot. But Dammmmmmmmmmm you found some great scenes.

    • @506motoadv
      @506motoadv  Год назад +4

      I think the craziest part of a town of 4,000 people at it’s peak, complete with churches, schools, and even an arena, is that it was only accessible by plane at the time. The road through wasn’t completed until 2 years after everyone left!
      I definitely over plan things but my process is basically to research places I want to see in the area I’m going and then map the coolest route I can to get to them. Then I try to estimate what’s doable in a day while still getting to the final destination before dark. I always have a “must do” and “nice to do” mentality of things and adjust accordingly during the day.
      It can make for long busy days but it works for me. And my brother still wants to travel with me next year so I guess I didn’t wear him out or drive him nuts.😂 Cheers!

      Yeah, I had a roommate from Lab City when I was attending UNB in the 90’s. I always wondered why his car had very little mileage on it yet was almost destroyed! Road was a little rougher back then I assume. 😂 Cheers!

It must be rewarding at the end of each day knowing your research and planning pays off dividends. Love the drone shots, and kudos for da French dialect there! Lol. Well done, thanks again for sharing, cheers and keep well!

      As it stands right now roughly 100kms between Manic 5 and Relais Gabriel and 65kms from Fire Lake to Mont Wright are the only sections of the main Labrador loop that remain unpaved. It’s an amazing area to ride through regardless. You won’t regret going. Cheers!

    This is a great series! I attempted a similar trip back in 2013 on a KLR but a dead battery in Relais-Gabriel and tight schedule kept me from continuing. I still had a great time in Quebec and Nova Scotia. Might have to do a Newfoundland trip this summer! Keep the videos coming!

    Love the cool way that you do your videos. I did the same trip last august on my VStrom 650 with another buddy and it brought back great memories. My GoPro stopped working at one point and I only had footage to Relais Gabriel. I am looking forward to see your ride to Cartwright where, since the hotel was full, someone rented us their one of their houses for the night for almost nothing.. Love that Labrador hospitality!!

      The bike broke down on July 29 around 6pm . I was in Lab. City on the 29 and 30th. I left Lab City on July 31st at 6am . After driving the first long dirt road in Quebec I made it to a truck stop / Emergency telephone 511 ? stop about an hour before I got to Relais Gabriel . While I was there 2 bikes went by going east . I thought that one was an African Twin but wasn't sure as it happened quite fast . Actually I thought that you guys probably already drove the Trans Lab by then . Anyway it could have been you guys . It would have been on July 31st . @@506motoadv

    Loved the videos and am thinking about doing this ride next summer. Any regrets/second thoughts to taking the KLR on this ride?

    • @506motoadv
      @506motoadv  11 месяцев назад +1

      My brother has no regrets on the KLR and you shouldn’t have any second thoughts on taking it on this ride…. plenty have done it. My recommendation for the KLR is a fresh oil change using generic 10w40 just before you leave home, carry a quart or two when you leave home and expect to top it off every night. Each town should have access to some sort of oil if you run out. Keeping the kph below 100 helped. Overall I think he burned between 4 and 5 litres over roughly 5,000kms. Do it! You won’t regret it. Cheers!

      Thanks so much! It’s an Umidigi Bison Pro. Chinese rugged android phone. It’s mounted to the bike using a Quad Lock universal phone mount. I create my routes in Gaia and upload the .gpx files into the DriveMode Dashboard app.
      It works fairly well. My only complaint is that the glossy screen can be difficult to see in bright sunlight. Cheers!
