Taking a Moto Guzzi V7ii Stornello to the 2024 Distinguished Gentleman's Ride in Shediac, New Brunswick. Decent weather, good people, and a good cause. Small turnout again as it is a small community but every little bit counts. A special thanks goes out to Len Tully and all of the volunteers who make this happen. Perfect example of someone being along for the ride.
@@krocketonboost5236 yeah, once that front wheel digs into the sand the odds of staying upright plummet. Cheers!
@@506motoadv that's because you get comfortable instead of staying in the right position. Just like with the missus 🍻
Perfect use of Gattuso
@@mckenr07 it’s so suiting. Some of the views and things you see on that trail are so rewarding but the 6-8” berm of gravel, overgrown alder bushes, and random sand pits can be treacherous! Cheers.
@@506motoadv if you think they can be treacherous, you should watch some of Gattuso’s tackles!
Newfoundland roads are hilly, curvy and very scenic. Leaving the pavement for a completely flat and straight trail seems a bit masochistic considering the T'railway doesn't really go anywhere the roads don't. Unless your doing the Burgeo highway (480) to Buchans. I wanted to do that trek but I ran out of time because I was held up waiting on rubber.
@@andywright5147 yeah, we ditched the T’Railway after doing a couple sections. There’s too much to see in Newfoundland to waste a few days staring at gravel and alder bushes.
must be trailway off the avalon. its not flat on avalon. and if you take one the branches from whitbourne to Argentina it definitely aint flat. lol but glad you enjoyed your trip!
I just love dirt roads to small towns. Especially the ones where i can just leave my Skidoo with the keys in it parked in a ditch all winter.
I hope those small towns in Labrador never change! Cheers.
5:12 to 5:23 I have not laughed so hard in years. 😂🤣
@@ElettricoNuovo thankfully I had lens protectors on the camera so it still works fine after having my tire run over it! Cheers.
Billy Connolly, true legend! Looking forward to more of your videos!
@@simonalway3367 I always got a kick out of that bit. Cheers!
Exelent video. Hope to see more Monkey Adventures on the channel :=)
@@MartyrDK yes, they’ll be coming but I take forever to edit my videos because, well, life gets in the way. Going forward I’ll be doing an annual 3-4 day mini trip with the Monkey. Heading to Prince Edward Island with it this weekend. Cheers!
Great video. Could you make a small video on you luggage rack's & bag setup. Thanks in advance.
I should probably do that. In the mean time, my rear rack is OEM Honda and the side rack is from Takegawa. I have an SW Motech drybag 80 on the side and an SW Motech drybag 350 on the back. Cheers!
What a great video. Thank you Sir.
@@MartyrDK thanks so much! I definitely need to get out for another Monkey mini trip. Cheers!
I though I subscribed to your channel already... anyway I did now. I think I am doing this ride next year, thanks for the content.
@@thefoggytrekker it’s an amazing ride. Maybe not the challenge it once was, but that just gives one more time to stop and look around. Cheers!
Lmao ! Good one !
@@bsc1463 I’ve witnessed meetings that pretty sounded exactly like this! Haha
Yessir! Great to see you’re back, and with a few stories and vids to share. Those are quite the wipeouts, glad you didn’t get seriously hurt, like you said, the good gear must have helped. Cool video, and like everyone else, looking forward to the trip vids! Cheers, and be well!
Yeah, I may have cried looking at my bank account after buying the Rev'IT DIRT Series gear but I'm so glad that I was wearing it on those two wipeouts. Cheers!
No views unless you have a good crash or two! lol
@@baldandbiking yeah, that’s why I broke my mirror and mangled my brake pedal………for a few hundred views. Haha
I, too, just returned home from the NL Trailroad trip on my klr650. Ferry to ferry, west to east, all on trail. The "Gaf top sail" (silly name) section was a bit of a drag with the overgrowth. But the trail is not all doom and gloom. Just got to be comfortable on loose gravel, stand up, and have your witts about ya. Average 72kmh over 4 days. Wonderful wild camping spots along the way, on beaches for 3 nights. I don't take vid, or very many pics, so I'm looking forward to seeing what's upcoming.
@@larry710 yes, you did it the right way. The T’Railway should be treated as its own thing where it’s all that you do for 4-6 days. No set schedule and camp however far you get each day. We were trying to use the T’Railway as a launching pad to a bunch of other stuff we wanted to see and after the Gaffs section we just decided that getting to the stuff we wanted to see was more important to us than the challenge of completing the T’Railway. I hope you enjoy the videos when they’re finally released. Cheers!
@506motoadv Yes, it would be stressful having hotel reservations. Being my first time, I wasn’t too sure what to expect. I know now that next time, I can easily make excursions off the trail. West coast and Labrador next.
Looking forward to the vid(s). Not a fan of the trailway. I enjoy the first few miles alongside the water but once the alders start to close in and the ruts deepen, i'd rather be somewhere else. Looks like you may have mirrored (pun intended) the damage Itchy Boots suffered in her 60k wanderings. Which tablet did you settle on? I put the 8" Ulefone ruggedized on the RT and so far no issues but i'm not using the quadlock system for it. Cheers from Sussex NB!
I went with the Ulefone rugged 8” as well. It works a treat, I just need to do a better job applying the universal Quadlock mount I think. My final thoughts on the T’Railway: It’s doable, but not really enjoyable. There’s too much to see in Newfoundland to waste your time staring at gravel and alder bushes doing everything you can to stay out of the dreaded berm. If someone wants to do the whole T’Railway they need to go into it with the understanding that it’s all they’ll be doing for 5 or 6 days. No set schedule. Camp however far you make it each day. Once a section slows you down and you’re behind on where you expected to be it’s hard to mentally get around that. Again, it’s doable with the right amount of time and there are some views worth the extra work……but if you only have a week in Newfoundland on two wheels, don’t waste it fighting the alder bushes. Haha Cheers!
good review , I almost lost my phone with the sticky quadlock , Phone feel between my legs lucky after a bump on the asphalt ( quebec road) , rock strap the best for problems.....love the launch on the second crash ... good thing that was not a tree. cant wait to see your video .... I use DJI camera but not the mic. as long as you have fun.... Alain & Yellow
No trees on the trail really.......but alder bushes for miles. I have a set of every size Rok Strap that I bring with me on every trip. They always come in handy. Now that I know the glitch on the Action 4 camera exists I should be able to work around it and they've recently released a firmware update so hopefully it's been addressed. I'll definitely be testing it out before my next trip. Cheers!
Has this been a wild season or what? That spill in the gravel, I had the exact same wipeout, but the bike went completely into the brush. We should go for an ultra chill weekender trip when the weather cools. I'm pumped for the videos man. Cheers.
Oh, I launched myself into the alder bushes at one point. The opening clip of this video was Jason and I dragging the bike out. Hahaha I'm taking the Monkey to the Magdalen Islands on the Labour Day weekend so that should be my chill trip. Cheers!
Looking Forward to the new series.
Thanks so much! I've still got a few videos to finish up from last year but I should be releasing this series over the winter. Cheers!
looking forward to the videos.....I have an 8 inch for nav and used the stick on mount....quad knock off.....cleaned the tab with alcohol....non drinking kind.....and put the mount on and weighted it and left it for 24 hrs.....will need a pry bar to remove...20220klr 650....since sold and looking at a 300 myself...the bike was really heavy this year...must be my age. Garth
Yeah, I'll try another stick on mount. I honestly think that I just didn't get a solid application on that one. Luckily the tablet was just sitting on my fairing when I noticed so no harm done really. Cheers!
looking forward to the series. glad you both got home without major injuries. your voice overs are always entertaining anyway.
@@wvadv thanks so much! Crossing Newfoundland using the old railbed sounded like a way better idea than it ended up being. We had a couple tough days but overall it was a great trip. Cheers!

@@eprohoda Thank you!
Sad to see you got to “enjoy” the burning of the local dump in Blanc Sablon. But it is an absolutely beautiful drive up the 138 to Old Fort.
@@rickthechemist it is a great ride out there! Beautiful area. Cheers!
Hey I camped at the same campground in Cap Chat and it is one of the best place I stayed.
@@lukezhang3715 it really is a great spot. Cheers!
Looking good.. NFLD, is on my list. Not going to make it this year.. Enjoy, looking forward to the Videos..
Thanks! This definitely wasn’t a budget build. I’m looking forward to Newfoundland. We’re just in the process of finalizing plans now. Cheers!
@@506motoadv Nope none of this stuff is Budget. However I've found that the Cheap stuff Either Falls apart, or it dosnt quite work the way you need it to, and you end up getting the better quality stuff anyways and you out the money you spent on the cheap stuff. Hard to really scrimp on the stuff your going to rely on, especially Moto Travel.
Awesome videos, I live in Happy Valley and cross that sketchy bridge quite often on motorcycle. It seems when assembled, the grates were put in sideways…’the worst bridge to cross…anywhere’ as stated by many tourists. Ride safe.
Thanks so much! Yeah, that bridge is definitely built differently than the other ones on the Trans Lab. Cheers!
I didn't know you could ride that, Or is that a different section?
This was from last year’s New Brunswick Adventure Rally. I wasn’t really paying attention to the total route as I was just following along. Pretty sure it’s an ATV trail that we’re technically not supposed to be on.
@@506motoadv it's a Shame, I used to use the rail trail from the Bridge to Sussex alot, it's forcing riders to head to Nova Scotia to travel on the railtrails. NB Needs. BDR.. Humm interesting 🤔 Lol
@@MMADV606 I think one could make a decent loop around the Province using a combination of dirt roads and Provincial snowmobile trails. I have something roughly mapped out but need about 10 days or so to ride it and just haven’t had time.
@@506motoadv if you decide to give it a go. I'll offer you as much help as I can. Being based in PEI There is some some logistical issues. But I have no problem packing a tent and spending a long weekend exploring the routes you picked.. I'm interested...
Love it James
It’s a fun area to ride through for sure! Cheers.
I Love that place.. I can't wait to get back there..
It's a great hidden gem for sure. I love the short ride along the river.
It's awesome little place to get lost..lol
Well done !
The southern coast of Labrador is amazing!
Very cool, bikes and folks lookin’ sharp!!
It's a fun event for a great cause. Cheers!
Love that Place...❤❤ Have you Been down Shepody rd yet?
Yeah, there’s lots of good riding down that way. Cheers!
Well done! I want to go there now. Thanks. Possible Al Gorithm is not picking your work up because it would raise the bar far too high for many! What is this nice tent you have?
Thanks for those kind words but I’m not so sure about raising the bar……..lowering it maybe! 😂 The tent is a Big Agnes Blacktail 2 Hotel. It’s a great tent but I have since switched to a Naturehike Mongar 2 because it packs smaller. (When I got the Blacktail I should have paid the extra and got the bikepacking version) Cheers!
Beautiful riding out there, i love the blacktop through Bay of Fundy National Park, i rode it back and forth probably a dozen times.
The Parkway is definitely the best riding roads in New Brunswick. And one of the best in all of the Maritimes. Cheers!
That’s a good looking bike
Thanks! The riding position can be hard on the shoulders but on a twisty road like this it’s a great machine. Cheers!
Beautiful place.. one of those do it every year places for me.. Great Video..
Yeah, I do it a few times a year. It definitely rivals the Cabot Trail as the best riding road in the Maritimes. The Cabot Trail has better sections but the Parkway is all killer with no filler. It’s an official provincial park now with a campground so we’ll see if that makes it busier. Cheers!
@@506motoadv oh really, they have Camping Now?
@@MMADV606 apparently. I have no idea where the campground is but if you check their website it says that you can book by calling and that the website will be updated for the 2025 season for online bookings.
@@506motoadv I love that area, that and Albert County..
Im curious what tires you ran on the cb500x. Thanks
Both of us were running Bridgestone AX41 AdventureCross tires. They’re my go to. I get 5-6000kms out of a rear and about double out of a front. I just make sure that I have a new set on the bike before I leave home. More than enough tread to last my typically 10-11 day annual trip. Cheers!
@@506motoadv Thanks for the info. We are going to drive the Trans lab this summer but from Newfoundland. Wife has the CB500X, I have an Africa twin.
I grew up in the Eastern Townships. Another great place on a motorcycle. Great video
Thanks so much! The Eastern Townships are definitely an area that I will be visiting in the future. Cheers!
@@506motoadv you’ll love it. Around Lake Massawippi. Ayer’s Cliff, North Hatley, Magog area. You could even cross the Border near Coaticook by Maine and head through the Mt Washington area to Bangor then up to NB. I did that route on my motorcycle and loved it. That trip was before my GoPro days so only only have the memories
@@rockinrodlittle I’ll have to check out that loop. Thanks for the info!
Nice bike!
Thanks! I’ve only got a few hundred kms of seat time but so far I’m digging it. Cheers!
Yes buddy!!! Beauty machine. Congrats
Thanks man! Loving it so far. I did a whole “new bike day” ride and my footage contained no audio so I guess this is all we get. Good times!
Did you trade or another steed in the stable? Had I Lived in NB I would have gotten something like that, but I ended up getting the Tenere 700 so I had enouph legs to get over there..
New steed in the stable. I’m now capped out for both space and the time to maintain them all. 😂 The plan is to split my annual trips between this and the CB500X depending on the expected terrain. Taking this to Newfoundland this summer to cross the T’Railway. Cheers!
@@506motoadv I have heard that can be unpredictable.. That bike is a good Choice.
I have never done this trip but I had watched all the videos for a long time and to be honest as they paved the road it lost a bit of appeal. most of the creators I watched just treated it as a distance that needed to be covered. but this series has rekindled that desire as you made it more od the adventure it is! Even my wife who was born in Lab City (and has had no interest in going back) watched and enjoyed. So thanks for all the hard work I know it takes to create a video series like this I'm sure I'll be watching it multiple times. singed some neighbors in Maine
Thank you so much for the kind words. Yes, the Trans Labrador is no longer the challenge it once was but that doesn’t make it any less enjoyable. To the contrary, I found that the paved road gave us the time to look around and actually take in the beauty that the big land offers. I was blown away by the southern Labrador coast. I still have two more videos in this series coming up so I hope you tune in and enjoy them as well. Cheers!
Frog was going through some shit probably a break up. Should’ve gave him your number and told him you’ll buy him a drink next time.
You’re right! Maybe I should have offered a spot on my couch until he got back on his feet! Haha

I don't know for sure, but those artistic sculptures might be in relation to the victims who died on the Empress of Ireland.
It’s definitely a possibility. Cheers!

It's funny cuz when you pick them up if you look closely he's covering his eyes like he's scared LOL
Ikr its the cutest
He was trying to get to the other side of the road!
I don’t know if they’re anything like turtles but I took him to the side of the road he was facing.
He was warming himself up on the blackish pavement.
Maybe…..but it was above 30 degrees Celsius so if a car didn’t get him he was going to cook himself.
