I definitely did this summer! Hahah
I much prefer the thought of soft bags but I bit the bullet this winter and got some hard bags and solid mounts. The angle of the exhaust on the CB500X blows a lot of hot air right at the bag and soft bags tend drop a bit once they have weight in them. A recipe for disaster. Haha

Just watched a couple of your videos. Good job camera work, drone and narration . I Am in B.C. , owned a CB500X great bike for limited off road use, great gas milage and not too shabby on the highway.

I’m a relatively recent convert to the ADV biking world and these videos are great for showing me fabulous rides right in my backyard! Thank you!

Thanks so much! I’m relatively new to the ADV side of things as well. My plan for this summer is to explore a lot of New Brunswick’s dirt roads with the Honda Monkey and crossing Labrador with the Honda CB500X. I should have a steady flow of videos being released starting in June. Cheers, and ride safe.

I don't know for sure, but those artistic sculptures might be in relation to the victims who died on the Empress of Ireland.

It looks like you had a blast man. The railbed trail looked really fun. I'm thinking of doing this ride next season sometime. Sorry to hear about the luggage though.

Yeah, I'm definitely going back to do that railbed in full sometime next year. It actually starts in Saint-Leonard and runs all the way to Campbellton.
And yes, you should definitely head to the Gaspesie. I'm going through my Day 3 footage now and I'm having difficulty deciding what to cut! It's just amazing through the Trans Quebec Trail and the paved coastal road (which I didn't do this year) is just as nice as the Cabot Trail. I could spend weeks there and still want to go back.
About the luggage....... that set was pretty much all that I could get in time for my trip. Part of me knew it might be a problem. And as I dig a little deeper around the web it appears that the exhaust on that bike is known to be in a poor spot for most soft luggage. Mosko Motos website flat out says use on a '19 and newer CB500X at your own risk. Oh well, it taught me that I packed way too much stuff as I survived just fine without its contents. Although a pair of shorts or pants would have been nice around the campfire........ my riding pants were all I had to wear for the rest of the trip!
      Cheers!

It’s an amazing area. You’re lucky to be able to call it home. I’ll be riding along the Matapedia again this summer on my way to Labrador. Hopefully I’ll find some new things that I missed on this trip. Cheers!

Man, your adventure is unfolding beautifully! Losing the side bag (for a second time) must have been a frustrating juncture, so happy for you that you found a zen spot to motivate continuation. Those are impressive sights and cool stops along the way. Great work with all the editing and narrating, seems like there would have been a lot of footage, love the drone shots too. How did you figure out which route to take? Thanks for sharing, and keep well. Cheers!

Yeah, night one was rough. My bag burned somewhere between Boisetown and Plaster Rock, my rear brake was crammed full of what I think was a pair of pants, and I got to Mount Carleton 10 minutes after they stopped selling firewood. So no fire, no food, and no rum. I smoked most of my weeks allotment of cigars that night because I was stressed and had nothing else to do. 😂 I legitimately sent the Missus a message through my Zoleo saying that I was probably heading home in the morning if I couldn’t fix the rear brake. (I’m honestly amazed that the rear wheel didn’t lock up!)
For choosing my routes I have to say that I obsess for weeks ahead of time looking at Google Maps, Gaia GPS, and RUclips trying to find stuff worth stopping for and that dictates the route a little. The only way to follow the exact Trans Quebec Trail is to spend the $10 or so and download the app. It worked great and is well worth it.
I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos. Cheers!
