I’m only a little into Survivor, but you nailed it. It’s so insanely good. There’s a connection to something I’m sure you will be stoked on once you get to the first planet.
Yes the sequels made billions, but each made less than the last. I think it was mostly due to killing off our favourite characters, not handing the baton on smoothly and the lack of an actual plan. I’m still a little stumped as to why the first movie back will be in Rey’s time again. That said I haven’t been happy with much that has been produced including legacy characters, and I’d be scared of what they might do with someone like Revan for example. So maybe this period is best for now. I never thought I’d be this worried of what comes next, but I hope I’m blown away by this movie, I REALLY want to be and I hope Daisy/Rey is done right this time around, Daisy seems lovely and I wish her all the best on this project.
Respect Kristian! I think it makes more sense for them to go with the 15 year timeline right now and then they could always do one with her older in the future. Daisy is suppose to just be the supporting actress I learned and not the lead character in that movie. I love the idea of a Star Wars anthology series. It is brilliant and one they should have thought of. They need you Kristian involved in the creation of these shows. Oh I hope to see Dave Filoni in the studio! That would be the most amazing to have a new discussion here. I love the questions and am playing Fallen Oder and then getting to Survivor. I would love to see the actual actor make a appearance as Cal in the fourth season of the Mandalorian and can see a show being done. That Sith Council is the coolest design and looks great on the sweater! The name is so appropriate for this podcast.
Would love to see Cal in live action but not in Mando, for a few reasons, one being that Cameron M cannot convincingly play 50 year old Cal at this point.
It’s also one reason that I regret Vader being in the games because I can’t believe that he’d know of Cal’d existence and not keep tracking him down. You’re gonna need a reason the empire thinks Cal is dead for the original trilogy.
I think you have a bit of Ashoka, a bit of Luke but I think Ezra should be a huge character in these films. I’d like a Luke / Balon fight and a space fight with him in the x-wing, with a tiny amount of mentoring to the others, just a few lines of positive faithful advice to Ashoka and Ezra. Hopefully it turns into a trilogy, in which case I’d like to see the second have a lot to do with the mandos and for Luke to appear in the last one again briefly with Mark Hamill simply being deaged this time rather than the updated composite performance for the first one. Then we can finally get an ending for him people can feel satisfied with.
I thought this season of Visions was miles better than season 1! I know I might be in the minority on my opinions about season 1, but I did not love the over exaggerated stylization from the anime style. Not necessarily the art style(a lot of the art in s1 was really good!!), but even in some of the stories I just had a hard time believing this was something that could feasibly be in the same universe as Star Wars. Even as elseworld concepts, it just couldn't bring me on board with the story. However, every episode this season, I could absolutely believe this could have been a story that happened at some point or another. I felt emotionally connected to each story, even the ones I didn't love, I was still invested in what was going on. Screecher's Reach might be one of my favorite star wars stories now! Imo, it was an excellent idea to broaden the series to other forms of animation!
Man they could have fixed some of the flows of Rey if they made the Helen Merin movie, showing her explaining things to the new Jedi and show Daisy in flashbacks maybe training with Luke or even learning more and more about her past.
@ 57:01, If they add Starkiller to a live-action film, then they GOTTA do Dash Rendar & LE-BO2D9 (Leebo)! Or at least throw in an Outrider or Outrunner cameo.
Still looking forward to Jedi: Survivor. People say it is great when it runs best. I pre-ordered it on PC, but after the turmoil about the overall performance, I decided to stop immediately after the recap and wait a little until the problems are solved, to get the best possible experience. I just finished Elden Ring a few days ago. As a novice "Souls" player my appetite for getting beaten up by a video game is satisfied anyway right now.
Hey Kristian. When is your interview with Freddie Prinze Jr happening? I'd love to see what he thinks about the current state of Star Wars as well as what his thoughts are for the Ahsoka show.
I kid you not, I cannot see the KK movies announced getting released. They're power plays to keep her position at LFL. A movie by 2025? Even more preposterous
So here’s my take. 1. I would be cautious betting on character popularity based on the they all made a billion at the box office standard. 7 made over 2 billion and 8 made 600 million less and then 9 made 300 million less than 8. Basically 9 made about half of what 7 did. That’s a huge drop. To me it’s a gamble on whether this one goes up from 9 or if it goes down which would put it under that magic billion number. I happen to think that what happened with Lindeloff is he made his pitch and it sounded like the best way to go at the time because most of the main sequel actors were happy to be done. It would still keep a direct through line to the saga so it wasn’t something set like 200 years in the future with a completely new cast with absolutely no connection to the previous movies which would seem like waving the white flag that the sequel trilogy didn’t work. This next part is my personal opinion but I believe the idea was brought to Daisy Ridley behind Lindeloff’s back to tell her if you’re out then you’re completely out because we’re going to recast the character older and when Daisy expressed she might be interested they wanted Lindeloff to write a new version at 15 years later instead of 60 and he either said no and was fired or his 15 year later pitch was not in line with what they wanted and then he was fired. That would explain why Daisy took so long to sign on. She wanted an official accepted at least pitch for what she’d be signing on for
Great show today! I am really looking forward to some of these projects from Luca Film also can't wait to hear your overall take on Jedi Survivor as well. Also finished the project for Capes should be sending it your way today or Friday once I am done formatting it.
None of the Star Wars: Visions episodes were in Japanese for me. I feel like we missed out, the one you described sounds like it woulda been way better subtitled. I think you are referring to the one where they needed to add an opening crawl to explain shit in? Aau's Song
Always been curious, I'm pretty sure the person who did the opening artwork for Capes and Cowls is the same person who's done Sith Council? Whereas the trio of C&C are clearly, you, Winston and Coy, I was curious as to who the two in the opening of SC are. Is it just two Sith types fighting it out? As always, thanks for this episode of Sith Council.
Would prefer Tarkin remained in the shadows, I kinda wish they did that in Rogue One. He was staring out the window at first, speaking from this ominous shadow, and I kinda wish it stayed that way.
I think theres more into this with Rey. I had preferred a Rey movie later on, but!..... the thing is now they have revealed the timeline, so where do we go after when Filoni verse is finished? We also know High Republic as a book line soon finishes...... so what do you do with the writers? You either let them write Old Republic or New Jedi order. I think Filoni will take care of Old Republic when Filoni verse is finished, but for the writers being able to write good stories in New Jedi era, you need Rey put in a direction, so a Rey movie is needed for the rest can be made.
Knights of the old republic was paused indefinitely... until they found a new studio because they were unhappy with the performance of the current studio. They have a new studio and production is back pn. Game plans to release holiday 2024 as of now.
@@TheKristianHarloffthey still have No release date and rumors are it is years away at this point because they scrapped everything from the Aspyr team. 2024 isn’t realistic at all for a full blown remake and reworking of a game. Most AAA games take anywhere from 4-6 years now. But it is development hell.
Angelina Jolie is 47. With grey hair and make up, she can play 55-60. The story could have skipped 35-40 years and cast Jolie, and that would have guaranteed box office way more than Ridley. Jolie as older Jedi Master Rey, wow, it would have been perfect looks-wise and financially and with the public interest. And they could have still had Ridley in a cameo in a flashback or two.
What astonishes me is the lack of vision and management at Lucasfilm. Like if the rumors are true, then they sided with a inexperienced director, over Lindeloff on his own pitch lol. Like Im not a Lindleloff guy, but the guy has experience and clout in the industry.
That "Tales of the Sith" fan question made me think. What if, piggy backing on what you said, they do episodes of Tales of the Jedi with Revan and Malek... that leads into Tales of the Sith?
It's still sad to me that the new trilogy aren't films I would watch again compare to the other films that I enjoyed more. I only hope that for this upcoming Daisy Ridley film that at least they write a better script to really help the actor shine because I like the actor I just think the writing needed to be better.
I have no doubt in Taika. Yes, one films thats meh. That some people love. Like, it blows my mind how some have turned on him. Its fine if someone doesnt like him, but alot of the reasons I hear for why he shouldnt do a thing are absurd.
The problem with Disney/Lucasfilm and the MCU is the writing and directing, and putting out too much content. When things are oversaturated or rushed, it's apparent in the final product's quality.
It does feel like SW brass are very knee jerky (as opposed to Jerky Boys jerky). But, I feel like we kinda see that everywhere. MCU, DC, etc. DC finally seems to be getting their feet under them again, but that's all theory atm. We'll actually see when DC stuff releases under Gunn and Safran, but I'm waiting for the proof in the pudding.
The old Ray concept would make a great show. Could have both Helen and Daisy in it, with old Ray telling stories of her adventures rebuilding the order. Then flashback to daisy and the adventure. Could even have episodes of older Ray adventures. Could use it to lead up to the movie.
The sequel trilogy made billions because all of us showed up to see what would happen. So it is BS to say the sequels made billions because fans loved Rey. We will know the truth when the new movie hits. We will see how many sequel fans there really are.
What I dislike most about doing Rey 15 years later is that they’ll spin it into a redo trilogy, having used their first to tarnish the legacy characters, destroy Anakin’s legacy, and sink Lucas’s vision. That done, they’ll hammer the character that represented all of that into a proper trilogy, free of most of the Lucas era. Essentially tying a ribbon around a gold briefcase, covering it in shit, tossing it like excess baggage, then tying the ribbon around a new bag and trying to sell you that bag. Thanks, it’s not covered in shit anymore, and your ribbon is nice, but what the hell happened to the gold briefcase?
Also if they went the Lindelof route you can still have daisy Ridley as key in the movie via flashbacks. like why are we acting like that wouldn't happen
The beginning level of Survivor is very linear compared to the rest of the game. Almost the rest of the game is huge open areas with alot of side missions and collectibles to find
I'm the same way Kristian. I am a huge gamer but basically every game I play is on the easy difficulty. I just like to relax and have fun and enjoy the story of video games. Not interested in getting frustrated and pulling my hair out due to difficulty lol
@@molsy1768 it was literally the least watched Star Wars series on Disney plus. According to Forbes "...tracking firm Parrot Analytics says that the “demand” they measure for Andor using their various metrics is overwhelmingly lower than all other Disney Plus Star Wars series, including both seasons of The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi and even The Book of Boba Fett."
Taikai’s film is probably gonna have to fill that 2026 slot if fillioni is held off by the strike and that might be why we’re hearing about it again. I also bet they move fast on Mando season 4 now.
What if Rey movie starts Helen Mirren but flashbacks to Daisy Ridley as Rey? Like Wonder Woman looking at a photo than goes to her long flash back in wonder woman 1
1:04:59 I had the exact same idea and posted it on your channel long ago described in the same way. Just have a SW variety show that can jump to any character from any timeline for any length of episode arc. I even said you can use it as test marketing to see which stories that should be spun off into their own series depending on the audience's response to it in the SW variety show. It'd be a can't-miss because there would be something for everyone no matter what character or era you're into.
I’m loving the story of Survivor (so far) but the game play is terrible, I don’t want Respawn/EA making anymore Jedi games. I’m also torn because I kinda don’t want any Jedi games because of how developers have to de-power lightsabers. Or give me a Jedi game with no lightsaber…😅
I will never stop holding out hope for an anthology series. 3 or 4 stories per season, 2-4 episodes per story, sounds perfect to me! Here's a clone wars story, here's a new canon adaptation of legend material, here's a mid career boba fett story, the possibilities are endless. Make them tiered so the larger plots gets bigger budgets, bigger action, on-location, etc., while the lower key plots get lower budgets, smaller crafted action, reuse of assets through volume style production. And even though they will end up being a part of the same product, you can treat them like totally different productions with different crews and creatives attached. Its a no brainer. And it allows a little more flexibility with the fan base: if someone doesn't like this 2 episode short story about Jar Jar being the town square jester on Naboo, you still might end up loving the 3 episode arc coming up next about a younger Mace Windu overcoming a personal trial on his first solo mission. You can play with the tone from arc to arc by changing to subject matter and as long as it's written well, fans I think will be more likely to stick around and see what's next. Heck, even if something is written poorly, knowing that a totally different creative team worked on the next story arc, you can just skip what you don't like and come back for the things that interest you. Do it Lucasfilm!!!
I'll tell you why I don't give a squirt of piss about a Rey movie. (Much luv to Daisy tho) It's because that's what should have been done with Luke in the first place. I cared and was stupid excited for EP 7. And they not only took a giant crap on the OG characters, but also on the original (Legends) stories, characters, lore, and 40+years of fan dedication. And it blew up in their faces. Now they want Rey to do what should have already happened, and I don't care. I'll definitely see the Mando movie. I'm slightly curious for the Old Republic movie, but the Rey movie.... They're gonna have to work VERY hard to gain my interest. As of now, I'd rather watch the Christmas special on repeat.

It’s also one reason that I regret Vader being in the games because I can’t believe that he’d know of Cal’d existence and not keep tracking him down. You’re gonna need a reason the empire thinks Cal is dead for the original trilogy.
Disney: We really need to sideline Luke Skywalker.
Also Disney: Damon Lindelof! How could you sideline Rey?!?
Great show Kristian and as always I appreciate the timestamps sir
I loved Visions I can wait to watch 2 and my kids loved those Little Jedi shorts. My 4yo watched them all twice back to back
The leafblower throwing rocks had me crying lol
I can see that you all had a blast last Friday at Flappers
51:22 this running joke will never stop being funny LOL
Man they could have fixed some of the flows of Rey if they made the Helen Merin movie, showing her explaining things to the new Jedi and show Daisy in flashbacks maybe training with Luke or even learning more and more about her past.
the show is hilarious with Mike Unleashed 😂. Hopefully you can have more of that on the show
When KK said the force is female, she wasn't kidding. SW Vision S2, 9 girl bosses in all 9 episodes.
You guys are VERY different live. Holy shit! :)
Live show is great. Keep it up guys
Thank you!
Jedi Survivor is amazing, I beat it last weekend. It was so good.
Love your conversation with the leaf blower 😂
1:10:10 the Darth bane trilogy is all I’ve ever wanted to be adapted
Hey Kristian. When is your interview with Freddie Prinze Jr happening? I'd love to see what he thinks about the current state of Star Wars as well as what his thoughts are for the Ahsoka show.
I kid you not, I cannot see the KK movies announced getting released. They're power plays to keep her position at LFL. A movie by 2025? Even more preposterous
We went to go see ROTJ (40th Anniversary) re-release last night, what a fun rewatch !
A 2 hour convo with Filoni would fly by in a blink. He's the definition of a good soldier when it comes to Lucasfilm.
Aau's Song
Not using Luke Skywalker for future stories is a guaranteed way to push a large majority of the fans away from the franchise.
Awesome panel.
omg i'd love to see more filmed live content
1:05:00 I can’t believe they haven’t done this yet. I thought this would be the first thing on their list for TV shows.
That’s Mike and Steph
@@TheKristianHarloff Ohhh, ok. Thanks! Threw me off b/c there's only two of them and I was thinking in terms of SC as a trio like C&C.
@@alexp601 Well, thanks Alex! This went from me looking like some noob to a colossal jackass! Gee, thanks! 🤣
I feel like they couldve done a multi season show with an older Rey and then have flashbacks to Ridley playing the younger Rey
Would prefer Tarkin remained in the shadows, I kinda wish they did that in Rogue One. He was staring out the window at first, speaking from this ominous shadow, and I kinda wish it stayed that way.
We need the equivalent to marvels “What if” just a grab bag on any Star Wars character or planet. But there is no big tie in it’s just a great show
I think theres more into this with Rey.
Right, That is what I thought!
Great video today Kristian!
I'll say it I think Taika could do something really cool and wild for Star Wars as long as he pulls back on the comedy
Just finished Jedi Survivor, it was so damn good
Kathleen Kennedy has been sending Leafblower guy to disrupt your shows, hasn’t she? She can’t handle your criticism 😂
The Avengers (with the exception of AoU) made more with each progression. The sequel trilogy to SW should’ve done the same. I hope Dune takes over.
Thanks Darth Harloff.
Live audience Kalinowski forever 🤘🏽
The problem with Disney/Lucasfilm and the MCU is the writing and directing, and putting out too much content. When things are oversaturated or rushed, it's apparent in the final product's quality.
The drama at Lucasfilm is fascinating.
But the drama between Kristian and the leaf blower guy is really capturing my interest, too.
Maybe I can do a Rip Van Winkle sleep until the Dawn of the Jedi comes out
Gonna be sleeping for a long time with the writer’s strike lol.
I think Filoni's movie could potentially be the best Star Wars movie since Revenge of the Sith, MAYBE Return of the Jedi
Excited to see whatchu think about Jedi Survivor 🙏
This is a great idea, I don't think it would ever happen, but I would totally watch it!
The sequel trilogy made billions because all of us showed up to see what would happen. So it is BS to say the sequels made billions because fans loved Rey. We will know the truth when the new movie hits. We will see how many sequel fans there really are.
Exactly
@@TheReelDealFilms Movie watching is different. Good or bad, we all come back. You know it's true.
@@TheReelDealFilms No logic in what you are saying. Have you even seen these movies?
@CyberPup 22 We will see.
Billions comes from repeat viewings. People saw what happened and went back again and again. Rey has fans. It’s a thing.
Starkiller pitch, he’s Giddeons final clone in the mandoverse movie. Grogu’s first battle with a lightsaber
Love the idea of a “Star Wars” anthology series. The potential is unlimited.
Right?!
The beginning level of Survivor is very linear compared to the rest of the game. Almost the rest of the game is huge open areas with alot of side missions and collectibles to find
KK pulled a captain phillips "I am de captain now" on Kevin Fiege
I'm the same way Kristian. I am a huge gamer but basically every game I play is on the easy difficulty. I just like to relax and have fun and enjoy the story of video games. Not interested in getting frustrated and pulling my hair out due to difficulty lol
Lol at Mike talking about Andor
Mike - "There's no lightsabers, no force, and no Skywalker's...."
Me - and apparently nobody watched it either 😂
Nobody watched it? It did really well. It just didn't do as well as the mandalorian.
Ratings were pretty bad. Hell. They were so low they put the first episode or two on network television and Hulu to generate more views.
@ThaPimpminista being the least watched star wars show is hardly an indictment.
I'm telling you, Kalinwoski needs to do "Angry Actor Plays Video Games at 4am" livestreams on youtube or twitch. 😂
Can’t wait for them to use Sam Witwer in live action Star Wars, not sure about Starkiller but something for sure
Taikai’s film is probably gonna have to fill that 2026 slot if fillioni is held off by the strike and that might be why we’re hearing about it again. I also bet they move fast on Mando season 4 now.
Yo Harloff! Why isnt Filoni planning and mapping out the New Jedi Order era and post-TRoS context?
What if Rey movie starts Helen Mirren but flashbacks to Daisy Ridley as Rey? Like Wonder Woman looking at a photo than goes to her long flash back in wonder woman 1
a live action anthology series is a brilliant idea. i hope this gets back to someone at lucasfilm.
* JMB is staring at Kristian's Xbox and being judgy *
Xbox>>>>>>>>>>PlayStation
Those Bruce Lee, Stormshadow, and Snake-Eyes busts are sweeeet!! Let me have them 😂
Close, not Snake-Eyes, Kanan
Oh my God, the shame of mixing that up 🤦🏾♂️. Just as cool though.
LMAO who the f is that excited for a Rey movie?? I'm guessing nobody cheered against it because they didn't want to come across as a hater.
Tons of people are excited for a Rey movie. It is what it is.
I can’t wait for Star Wars visions Vol 2 and young Jedi adventures tomorrow!!! For Star Wars day and a new Simpsons short!
I think Lucasfilm might be trying to do two films a year. They were trying to do that, but were scared off by Solo’s performance.
