    Thx for the video, helped me a lot. BTW took me 30min to unhook the clutch cable. Had the file the end a hair... BTW you should readd sealent to those two points. I did not do it either. BTW2: I have versys-X - same engine block, clutch and all.

      @@HelpMeDIY I'm having the same problem with the clutch arm how did you fix it

  • @arturtoth3185
    @arturtoth3185 3 года назад +14

    SOLVED: For issues with the clutch pack not engaging after installing new plates and springs, the steel clutch cover that goes on after the clutch pack is installed and before the springs are installed needs to be rotated 90 degrees. When you do this, it will seat 1-2mm deeper on the pack. Once this is done, when you pull on the pull rod that's in the center of the clutch, it will also pull the entire clutch pack toward you. That's how you know the cover is installed correctly. Lastly, the pull rod has to go on before the bearing and clutch cover are installed. My buddy and I spent 12 hours troubleshooting this problem and this was the solution. Good luck!

    If you have the same issue in this video, the Operating Clutch Plat that covers the basket is not seated all the way down. You will know if it is seated properly because the clutch plates will be tight, otherwise if not seated properly they will have some play. Pay very close attention to that cover plate to save yourself a great deal of time.

    I just did this on my ninja 400 and the clutch is slipping like crazy, in every geari can give it throttle and there's not much bite. Luckily I made it to work this morning. I watched the whole video, installed brand new plates that were soaked for the same amount of time as yours and it came out worse than the old plates. The only thing I can think of, is that my steel plates have a smooth side and sharp side, I installed all the steel plates smooth side out (towards me). Mine aren't textured like yours either.

    • @HelpMeDIY
      @HelpMeDIY  4 года назад

      The texture (friction pads) on them are what cause them to grab each other and not slip. These are the first clutch plates I’ve ever installed, so I’ve never seen a kind with a smooth side. No idea how that would work 🤔

    Check to see if there's a ground wire on the engine to the frame. It might have taken a hot one from the charging system.

      You need to put a small silver spring between the actuator longer end and the internal basket of the clutch ( Not the clutch cover) bike. You probably dropped it whilst removing the clutch cover.

    You didn’t explain the 2 rings
    Flat first than the bent one make it bend inwards
    Yes soak your plates overnight
    That is important as well as installation and removal always in the star pattern. Don’t just put your Milwaukee on and pull all of them off.
