I'm so glad to see this video series. So good to see the original pins. When mine was done the block was replaced and new pins installed. I miss it to this day. Looking forward to more in the series. Bravo!

Great to see strings starting to go back on. Feels like we're nearing the end of this adventure, but I'm sure there's lots more work to be done. Thanks for sharing!

This project has reminded me of the movie Karate Kid. “Wax on Wax off”. A teaching of patience

Hopefully the next video has all the strings on and dampers… It would be an amazing day;)

What would be “amazing” is some voiceover explaining the process. Not providing any dialog is just lazy IMO. Solely my $.02, I realize some people enjoy the “wordless workshop.” I am not in that group.

@@HBSuccess feel free to watch previous videos of this restoration and you’ll find a lot of voice over.. not much to say when removing/replacing felt🤷‍♂️

What a gigantic project restringing all the grand piano that's really a huge challenge. How do you determine how much of the string you leave before cutting it depending of the thickness of the strings do you have a map or a guide ? This looks terribly complex

I made a template when I removed the original strings. There is a small difference in length from treble/ mid and bass. I’ll try to show it better in the next video..

My unit will require 3 maybe 4 strings replaced as they were disconnected from delivery. Should I call someone for this part or jump in and get familiar with this process. Are the pins on this unit standard size or smaller European pins. When all pins are installed should they all align in very similar direction. The felt washer you were making, can they be made from a different color to match. I've noticed a few on my unit that doesn't look in perfect condition. Sorry if I asked you to many questions but your working on Broadwood very similar to my arrival.

For 3-4 strings I would get someone to change them .. reason being, you need an oblong tuning wrench for a John Broadwood and they are not cheap. You would also need to buy full rolls of strings…. It’s seems like a lot of $ just to get tools and materials
