Taylor Albaugh I did that in about 3 months. I actually do a 20:4 eating window and found it worked well for me. The first 2-3 weeks sucked in trying to get my body on the new schedule and not be hungry but after that it’s been easy. I normally eat Keto during my feeding window and I eat until I am full

I've been intermittent fasting for just over a month. Doing on average nearly 19hrs with 4-5 hr eating window.
I train whilst fasted and have found increases in my energy, sense of wellbeing and im gaining muscle whilst losing fat. I'm 51 and feel better than I can remember.

      Except I'm a woman who's 52 .. been doing IF & keto going on 4 years.
"16/8" was my daily regimen for awhile until that became too easy for me so now I've been effortlessly doing 19 -24 hours of water only fasting.. daily.
And I workout and/or run in a fasted state, before any meals 💪🏾

Been doing this for about 8 months. Love it and it pretty easy to do and it doesn't cost anything which is rare in diet advice. Sometimes on the weekend I might not go the full 16 hours but always reset on Monday. Another funny thing is that almost no one as noticed. They see me drinking black coffee and assume I ate breakfast at home.

I’ve been fasting for nearly a year. It’s changed my life. I was pre diabetic, borderline high cholesterol, 225 lbs. Now my numbers are at optimal. I’m down to 183 lbs I exercise using full body routines and HIIT training , in best shape in a long long time. I’m 50 years old, energy level is great. Like Dr Jim says, I don’t have to worry about what I eat as much. It works. The 16/8 is great. Just do it. Learn about it and do it. I have friends who’ve I introduced fasting to, and they are having great success. Good luck to all.

It is a great way to keep yourself in shape. I fast when I work out so it’s perfect I have a Ton of energy in the gym and I have it worked out where I ate not too long after the gym because I go to bed so early. It’s like this are usually eat for the last time around 6 o’clock maybe 630. I wake up Drink coffee have a pre-workout go to the gym in at 10:30 I eat and that’s 16 hours. Most people eat dinner for the last time and then go to bed about three hours and if you sleep eight hours you already got 11 or 12 hours in The books. You just have to wait a couple more hours and you’re good to go. I love working out I love cardio and I love lifting weights but if you don’t want to do that it could still work for you it’s amazing been using it for years

Then you should try 24:23 Intermittent fasting, or easier said eat one day and one not. Did that the last time I was broke for 1 Month and it reall saved me money. The first two weeks were hell, but after that? It worked, but I changed to 16:8 because with people eating around me I could not continue it,sadly. 16:8 is slower but its easier to continue.

    Intermittent Fasting Can Increase Autophagy
    - intermittent fasting and autophagy go hand in hand. When the body is deprived of nutrition it is forced to make decisions to survive. It will get ride of damaged cells and focus on strong healthy ones. Autophagy is the housekeeper of cells. Removing and clearing damaged organelles, such as mitochondria.

Eat small portions. . If doing 16-8 you can eat 4 meals .. 18-6 a meal every 3 hours= 3 .. Also eating more meals also helps deal with cravings. Each meal can have totally different recipes and menus.. I usually break mine with yoghurt-honey-bananas then wait 2 hours and eat whatever😊 (a lot of 'unhealthy' goodings) then have something light and healthy at 10 (18-6= 4pm-6pm-10pm) .. 3 meals.. 😊

I've gone through IF, it wasn't great as I would be hungry most of the time for the first month. After that month it started to get better. Mental focus? Not so sure about that, but my mood and motivation definitely improved. Weight/fat loss? Gone from 16% to 10% body fat in 2-3 months without losing weight. I trained 5 days a week, cooked/prepared meals and watched my macros on top of that.
That's my experience with 16/8 IF. It won't hurt you unless you've got type 1 diabetes or some neurological issues.

16:8, 20:4 or even a 24 hour alternate day fast they all work... It doesn't mean you can eat junk you still have to eat healthier foods, drink plenty of water, take your vitamins, take your protein (during your feeding window). If you train while fasting (specially doing more compound workouts/super sets ) it makes it a lot easier to lose the fat.

I highly recommend it! I am 44 and I have struggled to go from an over weight 180 lbs guy (5'6") to a 143 lbs. I only wanted to get down to 160 lbs I thought that would be a good weight, but instead I got down into the 140s. My body fat is around 7% if you're on instagram connect with me and share your journey @dixonizm and @dixonsk8addict

Crazy thing is I had personal trainers all telling me to eat 5-6 times a day...which I didn’t never accomplished cause that’s too much food and I’ll get full af and didn’t lose weight pretty much stayed the same weight. Did intermittent fasting for one week and lost 4 lbs. I do the 16/8 which is not hard since I’m not a big breakfast person

Works for some people and not for others...like most diets. Not as many of us are concerned about jet lag these days. 😜

  • @BlueYanYan

Same information regarding intermittent fasting I get from other articles and videos online, so nothing changes. The only new information I can get from this presentation is that it fends off jet lag and efficiently synchronizes your body clock depending on the time zone you're in when you're about to break your fast.

For me, at 56, 20:4 works best. 16:8 is too much eating time even with full body weights workout and walking on off days. I didn’t notice a change in weight with 16:8.

  • @Rdosramos

Thanks for the video. I wanted to ask a few questions
1.If it takes +-50 calories to break a fast is there a time limit or is it 50 calories throughout the day?
    2. If you calculate your BMR to you eat the total calories during the feeding state? - I am pretty sure the answer is yes but I just want to make sure.
    3. What sort of caloric deficit would you use e.. 500 cals etc or would you eat at your BMR?

    • @stevepicchi8986
      @stevepicchi8986 6 лет назад

Robert dos Ramos it’s not about calories, it’s more about insulin levels in your body. Anything other than pure water and black coffee will cause your resting insulin level to spike therefore causing you to drop out of the fasting state.

I have always eaten what I want and never put on weight. I realise I do this anyway with no effort or thought.
I wake up and have a fee coffee’s have food at eleven or twelve and then again maybe at three or five, and then again at seven or eight. Then that is it. So 11-8 eating or 12-9. Works fine for me... have a huge dinner and you don’t really get hungry for breakfast until 12 once you get used to it, coffee suppresses your appetite.

Dear Jim, as usual, really appreciate your high quality insights into training and nutrition!Just a quick query - how does one reconcile the need for higher/frequent protein intake with IF? Use more protein shakes/BCAAs in the 8hr window? Since BCAAs will break a fast. Or simply bump up the protein on each meal? Higher protein vs IF - which in your opinion and experience is more effective in achieving and maintaining 4-6% body fat? Thanks!

misleading people the body needs more than 16hrs to make intermmitent fasting work i know from experience when your not in shape you need a longer fast time because of insulin resistance to reap the benefits
