This is so crazy but I was at the Masters practice round today. I saw Dana out there working with Viktor Hovland. I thought it was him, but wasnt completely sure until I saw him take his glasses off. So cool to see him! The stuff he’s been teaching you, Jerome, has really been helping me. I would’ve liked to thank him.

Its been an eye opener for all the stuff I didn't learn 30 years ago and self taught. The one move non-coaches DON'T teach is the trail elbow in and bend. Your driver looks good because the ball is forward. You should ask Dana and try moving the ball forward with your irons so it'll give your club face time to square because your bottom is more forward as well vs being slightly opened, bottoming out early and ball going right. Along with aiming/direction, you'll need to recheck all your club distances as you get better and if you change clubs and or balls.
Check 22:20. 4 Swings were feet aligned to the left (a few inches) and not parallel to alignment stick which is good for a fade shot. Be aware of your feet and alignment stick. Some shots went to the right because your feet were slightly left of the alignment stick and club path was down the line, and it fades. If your feet are aligned right of target and club path is down the line, it will draw. Check feet, stick and divot for feedback.
Try not to take deep divots on long shots. You'll destroy your wrist sooner. Shallow means shallow to no divots from the tee, unless you need more compression on a Par 3. The compression is for your approach shot and ball placement/movement left to right/right to left on a undulating green. Your practice divots seem too deep and will cause chunking or club face opening. If you aim left and you want the ball to go straight or draw, you'll have to manipulate the club face to close a few millimeters to get it square. Once you take club away, the wrist moves slightly, and you have to move them back slightly. If you stay aligned left of target and swing down the alignment stick line, your target should be to the right, then your shot is perfect. If you align your toes to the right and swing down alignment stick line or to the right, it should draw, and your target should be to the left. This should help you feel good whether a shot was going in the correct direction or not. Fade, draw, straight is the key.

    • @JeromeRufin

For me it’s a combination but mainly the way I learn best is to learn all the technicalities of a swing like why does this happen based on x so that when I’m practicing and I lose my “feel” I just revert back to understanding what Dana teaches me how the body moves and what causes what so I can self correct. Mainly the reason I ask so many questions

Free TIP: When you are working on one thing, just work on that thing instead of asking 4 follow up questions about what other body parts should be doing. You need to develop a feel or a thought to do the thing you are working on correctly before moving in to something else. I know your brain is super active all the time and new questions and thoughts just pop up, but you gotta resist that temptation and stick to the task at hand. Hope that's helpful for you.

I agree 100%. I’ve said this earlier about him where he is an engineer so he needs to know the why and is not a feel person. I believe thats why he may forgot the why instruction after he goes on his own and leaves the instructor.

Great videos, thanks for putting up all the lessons :). The last few videos have been brilliant as I feel its easy to understand the way jts being coached to you..I've been looking at them and practicing what you have been thought up until this video and it has improved my irons. I was confused watching this when you were told that the side bend after the backswing should not be manufactured by dropping the right shoulder and the shoulder tilt should be kept instead. I was convinced you were told previously to drop the right shoulder as thats what I got from watching the lesson also. I went back and fould the part where you were told to drop the right shoulder for side bend in the below video. Its at 20.33 where its about creating side bend. Is that not a contradiction to this video? Genuine question because Ive been practicing the manufactured side bend as shown in the video below :/
