I brought a 1.8 vvc in April gave it a good service and did a few little maintenance jobs and the wife and I drove to Lake Garda via the Stelvio pass and back without incident. Brilliant little cars which handle pretty well and are easy to work on with plenty of videos about servicing on RUclips. If you warm them up and don't thrash them from cold it should last you well.
Been looking at getting one of these myself. Good to meet a fellow British car nerd. The motor is a Rover K series 1.8, rock solid engine with a couple of preventative fixes. Multilayer steel headgasket to replace the inadequate factory fitted one. Main source of infamous headgasket failure, long since identified and remedied. And a remote Thermostat fitted along the outlet pipe rather than on the engine inlet. Helps balance temperature between the top and bottom of the engine, further preventing risk of head gasket failure. Always a good idea to get a new cambelt while you're at it too. Not very tuneable engine without spending some serious money, get the Trophy edition for 160hp for power. If you're bonkers enough the Lotus versions of the K series if you can procure one will fit, and push around 200hp
My first cabrio in 1998 in Brittany. Fantastic.! Tahiti blue ! Then came 206cc, mx5 nb 140 and NC 160. Slk 320 even. But the mgf 120... And a jag x type 3 liter remain my favourites, both British cars with spirit and elegance, genuine class.!
i like your enthusiasm. i had a TF for years and it was nothing but endless trouble, but it was my first sports car and i loved it. swapped it for an MX-5 but i still love to see Fs out and about
Me again. Got me a VVC back in June! Its like a go kart, insanely agile and effortlessly quick. Also had to spend nearly a grand on fixing it already! 😂 Don't care though, every pound spent has been worth it, and while as you say no one wants them right now, they're certainly not dropping in value anymore either. Not that I'm ever selling it if I can help it.
Had my MKII F since 2004 now on 41K, not sure why I bought it then or why I still have it at times (have a TF as well) but when I drive it on B roads on a Summer's evening it's just perfect fast enough to have fun, handles superbly and soaks up the bumps with the hydragas suspension, you're right needs to be correct height. I would not want a Z3 or Z4 as they just don't do it for me too heavy as well. HGF sure but now cheap as chips to repair.

Enjoy pal ......had one several years ago but swapped for a mk 3 mr2 .....miss my mgf awesome car but cost me on HGF and was not cheap to keep , but some how they get under your skin and pu a smile on my face like he current MR2 Can,t.......looks like a k&n air filter and a vey well looked after example and an absolute bargain pal 0)
Regarding suspension what psi are in your tyres? Amazing the difference in poor ride quality results from a over inflated tyre, in my 1.8 vvc 26 in the front, 28 rear.
Excellent video , I'm just about to buy one of these ....I have an affinity with all the cars you named in this video plus , ford cortina , Austin maestro , ford Granada, nissan sunny , critreon ZX , these are the motors that I saw growing up and I want to own lol ...the one I'm looking at cost abit more so I'm just mulling it over , but I've owned and mX5 and it's time for another soft top convertible roadster to see in my midlife crisis !!! Lol ...
@@tomdrives Not worth it imo the mpi is the same 5K the VVC then keeps on going if you don't thrap it everywhere the VVC is not worth it and costs £££s to maintain/fix

Thinking of dropping a B18 in there what do you think?
@@moreira8967 Sounds like a pretty solid idea

A classic British roadster that once again never had the recognition it deserved. Like many Rover cars .

It is electric power steering. The first car mass produced with it (fiat x19 had it but not sure it qualified in mass production numbers)

Nice. You have good taste.
you think it's not sexy? it's a gorgeous car
I think it's cute, not sexy.
cute is sexy
I like your style. It looks smashing, it's an MG, it's British, I love it. I know sod all about cars though. Brilliant.

Loving the tape over the warning light on the dash
That’s an official MG Rover part 😉
I need more videos of this mg!!!!!
Same here !
i like it and how it sounds.
what a bargain dude - amazing - in your video you got most of it right..... good job
I still don't get how to open that left plastic engine cover. If anyone knows, tell me, please!
Effin bonnet release cable broke :( now i can't top up the clutch fluid. God is dead, clearly.
Ditch spare wheel and get a puncture kit, then you've got more space
Nice jacket she's wearing 😍
Your hair certainly looks like you drive a very fast convertible 😉
Nice video and presenting style 👌
I love your grandad cardies 😍
The suspension is perfect if you can maintain it. If you can't it is terrible. Indeed.
Agreed I don't like that people base their assumptions of the MGF from poor cheap examples that haven't been looked after.
M Reg ?
Looks good for the price you paid, seen a lot worse for more money
It's an MG and it has an history of sportcars behind. Not like bmw or shit mazda
Why does a brand have to have a history around it to make a good car?
shit mazda? lol
@@merdem7805 It does
@@merdem7805 I’ve owned an mgf and an mx5 and the mgtf was far superior in my opinion 👍
Should of got a VVC 👀
I'm thinking about it but I need to drive one first 😉

Where is the coupe?
I've still got the coupe still in progress, I've got a turbo now so should be uploading more soon when the 20v red has had its brakes done
I also own a mgf!
Nice working speedo 😂
Always been a bit wiggly had that in my old MX5 😂
Please, upload your Apple videos
As much as I want to, I feel I got too much grief. I'll put them back up soon maybe :)
Some apple videos are now back up, consider them a "best of" collection
Mangina....
man what's your problem.
Probably the worst "review "of a car i have ever seen, you paid £450 for it get over it, i pay more than that for two tyres for my car ,
