Excellent reporting. Honestly makes me wonder if the Thargoids are misunderstanding humans as a hive mind similar to theirs, thinking they can cripple us all by taking out our "home base".
Nah, they know exactly what they do. Squidward and his friends ain't dumb. Remember, all the politics, all schemes and fighting between the three major factions is dwarfed by the simple fact that Earth is humanities cradle. This is where we began our first steps, from the Renaissance, the Age of Enlightenment up to the first space stations and Lunar outposts. People in the Alliance and Empire don't know it yet, but Earth is a part of them and if you take that part away, there will be consequences. In other words, no one is safe from when the shit hits the fan.
I think the Thargoids invaded Sol for one of two reasons. They found out it was humanity's home system, or they found out that it is where Aegis is based. Aegis Core is located in Sol, and they used Seo Jin-Ae, who is part of Aegis, to find it. Maybe it's one of those, maybe its both.
Im still convinced they are searching for something, honestly i was convinced to titan would go to Triton instead of Earth but looks like i was wrong there. Still hope this leads to us seeing whats behind the permit lock there
I had hoped that all the issues surrounding roids had resolved, as I wanted to avoid any involvement with them. I managed to stay away from the situation until now. About two weeks ago, I moved my entire fleet from Vequess to Sol, and now it seems like I'm trapped there for the foreseeable future. The only ship I have left is my Beluga Liner, so it looks like I'll be assisting in the evacuation of the Sol system and helping my fellow humans.
NOOOO !!! Not the Hutton Mugs too!!! I thinking that Titan is gonna self destruct in Earth orbit, would take out Earth long with Luna, wipe out the cradle of humanity and deal a crippling blow to the humans.
Got pushed out of Sol when Lincoln starport went down along with my AX fed corvette. All my hard earned things and a sweet earth base. Gone.. now I'm rushing from the marlinist Republic back to Sol for revenge. Also, the first battle for Earth. But the imperial and alliance are staying out of it? I know Aegis is there, but FDev should at least make it that all three superpowers are rushing in to defend the cradle of humanity. Missed opportunity, I say.
We expected maybe the moon Triton as it's permit locked, and has a possible ammonia ocean on it, making it possibly something 'goid related being there.
I think they thought it would deal a massive below to our morale. In a way, it did… But I think they might’ve underestimated how that would cause the combat-able anti xeno fighters to REALLY rise to the defense. I would love to get involved in this but I only started playing again last week and have a Cobra mk3, unengineered, no guardian weapons. I'm just going to get rogered aren't I?
The Federation is completely embarrassing itself at this point. They should have had a couple thousand Farragut battlecruisers poised to defend their home system, and there should be zero need to call in reinforcements from third parties. The fact that their pathetic defense force got destroyed so quickly and easily by a single Thargoid capital ship just shows that the so-called Federal Navy is the biggest paper tiger in the galaxy.
What if the Devs go wild and have most of humanity extinct with only a couple stations left before the thargoid invasion subsides, only to leave it up to the players to recolonize a thargoid ravaged galaxy? That could make for a seriously interesting shift in the game.
What exactly is the endgame for cocijo here though? Even if it wins in sol it would still be heavily weakened, and sol is not the only major hub of humanity. Would it then move on to Achenar? Or any other major capital system? Because it will not leave sol unscathed and what might not be accomplished in sol will most definitely be finished somewhere else. And at that point it will be over for the thargoids.
For the people that do not realise it. The Thargoids found SOL through Voyager. It contains a golden plate with our location in the universe on it. Thats why its in the first video.

I'm pretty sure the trailer included that shot for dramatic reasons, and to say that Thargoid is already in Sol. Voyager is not very far away from the Sun compared to other star systems... Even in 3300+. If they found it, they don't need the golden plate. They can practically see Earth from their cockpit at that point.
Man, I feel like I missed Thargoid war event. Hopefully something else happens after this, or are they going to let the game die once the story is completed?
