actually I’m in that process, I did “repair” one by watchinh youtubes like this one.. but honestly want to get a new one - this helps to transition to that mindset..
the solution with this one tho would be to unplug it / drain it and would work again :/
So turn it off and on

You'd think, but humans don't exactly work like that. In my experience doing contract work for almost a decade, if you "fix" something but the problem comes back, it leaves a bad taste in the customer's mouth, and they are GOING to call someone else, because in their mind you didn't fix anything.
If you fix the problem AND find a way to stop it ever happening again, then you make the customer happy and they trust your skills/knowledge. Then when they need work done somewhere else they think of you. They trust you, and want that same service with their current issue.
My mileage: guys who do shitty work soon find themselves out of work, while guys like this have too much.

@@alexdell9047how would the know though? Because at first glance it looks like they purposely bend down the existing element to touch in the puddle. Apparently that is not enough, but it is not like they could’ve seen that by just testing it for a week or two.
This type of fridge shouldn’t freeze over in just a night, and the fact that they have a puddle on the floor every day tells me they have the fridge open a lot and long. Maybe even put in warm meals with a lot of moisture coming off. This shouldn’t happen normally.

Sometimes it will have a pan where it will evaporate from, sometimes an heater element in it, sometimes the compressor discharge will pass through it to aid evaporation.
Sometimes it has a plastic pan that goes over the compressor for the heat from the compressor shell to evaporate it.

This solution is only temporary. We need to ask ourselves why ice formed at the water drainage point in the first place. This happens because the drain was clogged, allowing water to stagnate long enough to freeze. While we've addressed the symptom, we haven't tackled the root cause. The real solution would be to clean the drainage tube (in 99% of cases, this can be accessed from the back of the refrigerator, focusing on the lower section).

For this per Samsung you have to replace the drain. The duck bill on the bottom of the drain is really what is causing the blockage. As the water gets trapped in the drain line it goes up to the evaporator and freezes than thaws out when the defrost heater turns on than keeps building. This will only work for like a couple of months

You can see in the video that there is one on element, however it seems clearly damaged.
And remember, this is a user error, this happens when the user puts in warm food in the machine, or lets in warm air often.
      This builds up moisture.
In normal fridges it just builds up lots of water in the fridge.
In a combo the water gets frozen and then you have water leakage.

It is, what you are not aware of is that this is a user error which basically broke the already in place system, you can the old wires destroyed from the ice build up.
There should never be an ice build up that bad in normal use, however when user puts in warm food or lets in too much warm air it builds up excess moisture that overcomes the solution in place.

If you encounter this issue on a Whirlpool (or subsidiary), there is a rubber grommet on the drain line behind the bottom panel in the back. They dry out/get clogged which freezes up the same way you see here.
