10/4/19 The Disneyland Railroad: A tender Ride on Ernest S. Marsh #4 ft. some unusual procedures!

- We have heard your requests and it felt like the right time to return so here is one of several Disneyland Railroad videos from our 10/4/19 visit. If time permits, we will try to post either all of the footage or at least some previews in the near future. As stated on the community tab, video production will slow down due to a future busy schedule.
However, we just could not wait to not share this video as 1, some of our DRR fans like tender rides and 2, there are some unusual procedures done once we leave New Orleans Square station...well, the first time. We backed into the station shortly after departure due to an unscheduled (bell/emergency) stop-which the crew had to turn off the engine- and then our engineer and firer had to re-lit the fire in Ernest S. Marsh #4 before continuing out of New Orleans Square station a second time, a shave & a haircut between Marsh #4 and Mark Twain Riverboat, and some other fun in cab and on tender shots.
We hope you enjoy this video.
Thanks for Watching

The first fireman seemed annoyed and rude. He just quickly stomped out without any goodbyes. The engineer had to cover for him just by saying he “he just gave up.” The lady who covered him was really chill.
Nice to see the engineers are younger these days.
Dude, emergency stop, shave and a haircut, and being on #4? Luckiest guys ever right here.
Oh wow. I didn't know tender rides were a thing. Never been to Disneyland but sure want to go now.
I know I would!!
Wow. Special event. All the years I was lucky enough to ride in the DL RR tenders I never experienced a re-light. NIce videos.
Very Cool!! This lady Fires a steam Locomotive, I'm in love!!
Knotts just got two girls on its railroad its nice to see.
@@ashtonhicks5420 Must be a liberal reply! I'm implying, it's difficult to find women in this job profession that enjoy the job the same as the rest of us that work on locomotives.
Okay, then.
I fire at Dollywood and we have two coal fired engines and we have 1 female fireman as well
@@ashtonhicks5420 why be such a snowflake? Oh this is California, nevermind.
When you take the best part of the magic behind our steam trains tour and put it on disneyland's tender ride. TAKE THAT FLORIDA!!!
for the rest of the video. mark was as good as usual with the whistle and speed. especially of the drop to toontown, and it looks like even he and the fire-girl had fun taking you.
great video as usual jon
At least this one tried to respond. There was one time the train did a S&HC and the Mark Twain didn't even respond. The wheelmaster/captain of the riverboat didn't realize what the train was even doing.
@Foolish Mortal Though you are right. It could've been better.
@@JonRailVideos2011-1 where is will when we need him
Great video. Extra fun ride.
Moving an engine like that with no fire is one of the worst things you can do to a fire tube boiler. Sucking all that cold air in is a huge thermal shock.
I think I heard something about a coach when the conductor was talking great video I never seen a tender ride
I was in the video. I was in the first row and I was like one is holding a camera and I was so surprised
It’s interesting that you can only see the fire glow in the dark
Still, there are lots of times where we saw a flickering orange glow from in the firebox in light
Never been to Disney but always wanted to go. This would be me in my element. The joys of live steam! Nice to see an injection of diversity into the team too!
Diversity?
This is an amazing video!
One of the better cab ride videos I've seen! Wonderful clarity! (and a lady Fireman makes it more interesting, too!)
Or is that firewoman?
@@tsitracommunications2884 fire-er is what disney calls them now ig
How interesting is a woman?
Nice Video
What does the timer bell mean in the engine
I wonder if that was typical that an E-Stop calls for shutting off the boiler
Sometime I want to ride the tender so I can talk to train engineers and fire man
How does one get a footplate ride? I see youtubers do it all the time and I want one lol
Pretty much you just have to ask a conductor at the main street usa station and see if any tender ride engines are available.
When’s the best time to ask and can it be 2 people
2 people can ride during the tender ride and...I believe any time can really work so long as you ask a conductor on Main Street and a tender ride engine is available. Engines 1, 2 and 4.
I think the crews are more flexible at night-probably right after dark- it seems according to Evan Burt and Foolish Mortal based on their recent videos. I am sure a day ride can still work so long as the right crew is on willing to take guest riders.
8:11 it was at this moment when mickey got very unhappy.
also what happened? I know an Estop was initiated but... whats the cause
They ran out psi in the locomotive so they had to re light it agian if they had kept going they would have broke the locomotive
@@oceanbreezer325 Uh, no. That is not how a steam locomotive works...
@@DAPchatt sorry I was just making an educated guess. But what actually happend if you don’t mind explaining
@@oceanbreezer325 I don’t think it was anything with a loco
@@DAPchatt ooh okay
I'd sure would like to ride in these seats right up next to the engine, I just have one question what does this train run on
Recycled vegetable food oil and water.
Im going to go to Cheyenne Wyoming to see up 4014 and 844
way did they back their train into the station was the engine's tender not lined up with the water tank?
Yes. The train was ready to keep going but I guess there was a passenger or station issue possibly as the conductors alerted us to stop. Due to such, the crew had to cut the fire(shut off) and had to re-light the fire while having us tender riders disembark which is why we reversed back into the station. As for water refueling, it is usually done while park guests are not riding the tender. -Jon
@@JonRailVideos2011-1 way did they need to close off the fuel supply to the fire in the fire box did they do that so the steam pressure did not rise enough for the safey valve to blow off the extra steam pressure which would wast the water that was boiling in the boiler?
Last time I was there was in '95. Thankfully I am now to old for disneyland
Ur never to old for Disney
@@dylanschultz9573 never say never d land was mostly to appeal to children
@@tsitracommunications2884 I'm 20 and love Disneyland
@@dylanschultz9573 d land was created mostly for children. Besides i am 58
@@tsitracommunications2884 okay I’m just saying as I have cousins and stuff who work for Disney. They see grown ass adults love Disney 🤷🏽♂️
Will Disneyland have a sixth engine one day?
Not at this time.
There’s an honorary 6th engine that’s ex-AT&SF on display in a park lettered “Santa Fe and Disneyland railroad”
Does anyone know if tender rides are still allowed with covid guidelines?
I believe it is still no at this time although cannot fully confirm since haven't been back in recent months. -Jon
@@JonRailVideos2011-1 Just went today and was told they current aren't doing them, so I can assume it's probably still gonna be a while till they allow tender rides again
