This movie acting look so real and seems like their death is real
3:39 ...and then flowers grow from the pieces of their bodies. I think that's a very important scene in the movie. Several mythologies contain the theme of the world being created from someone's body (Ymir for the Norse, Tiamat for the Babylonians). Also the theme of a woman getting pregnant from the corpse of a god is not something new (Isis getting pregnant from Osiris in Egyptian mythology).

Ryan Wessel it did have a main menu, and from what I can recall, it had a few special features such as a stills archive, the original trailer, a little note from the director about the movie, and so on. there wasn't a whole lot of extra content

I liked this movie for the sole reason that it actually creeped me out.

I think my main problem with this movie is that it's experimental in every single way. I feel like if you go experimental in one way, you need to go conservative in another direction to keep the work anchored. Otherwise it just becomes a shit show.
Cat Soup I feel is a great experimental film. Its loose narrative with no dialogue is held together by beautiful animation and great humor.
Begotten, on the other hand, is just weird in every single respect, which makes it interesting to talk about but not so interesting to watch.

watching this really felt like an alternate universe creation myth like. with a bit of bending reality and dissociating, it feels somewhat Plausible as ancient history

Marilyn Manson good question! I've seen a lot of shit, so I'm mostly pretty immune to a lot of the "disturbing films", but some of the ones that stuck with me are definitely Martyrs, Where the Dead Go to Die, August Underground Mordum, Slaughtered Vomit Dolls (I haven't seen it all the way through, but I've seen enough of it to get the gist), Irreversible (because of the rape scene, although it's one of my favorite films of all time, so I don't mind watching it every once in a while), and I'm also gonna throw Gummo in there, just because of the bathtub scene, and I'm a HUGE germophobe, so that part really set me off haha

He was inspired by Eraserhead. Thats lynch, right? I dont remember. But he was trying to be surrealistic. I personally thought the movie was boring.
Merhige sounds like marriage but with an "e" sound in place of the "a." I liked Shadow much better.
It felt less like a movie proper and more like an experience or vision I had.
i would watch that movie but when i go to sleep i always think about it so much for some reason, that i can’t sleep so then i just stay up all night lol

This is cool. I saw this film when it was first released back in New York City at the Angelika theater. The theater was packed but within the first 10 minutes people actually started getting up and leaving! I could hear people behind me guess being in saying things like what’s this crap X? My partner on the other hand got very upset with me later that night because I made him see the film and stayed all the way through it. I loved it!
My copy is SUSPECT Zero, not SUBJECT Zero. Where did you get that one you showed?

The movie was good until she was raped. They went way to far showing the rape like that they should of just implied it. After they touched her breast I was liked “ok that’s disturbing” but I didn’t lose interest. But after they showed her “you know what” and they all gathered around and touched it As they sort of tore it apart. I felt so uncomfortable otherwise it’s a great movie

Saw it in like 91 or 92 a couple of years after it came out. Was extremely weird and chilling then. Now...meh not so much. Probably because since seeing it I have watched soooo much f'ed up shit I'm jaded lol.

Rachel Doll have I read the actual book? no, but I know the story, which in a nutshell, is basically God creating earth and man, but man disobeys god, so God destroys his world. Now of course this isn't the entire story, but the movie is apparently a surrealist and absurdist interpretation of this central theme, at least that's from what I understand from it. I mean fuck for all I know it could be a bunch of nonsensical nightmare fuel that some dude came up with...Either way, it's quite an experience
