  • Hey everyone,
Hope you're enjoying this new series!
Today's session was all about cutbacks, more specifically, cutback scenarios where the strikers take one or multiple touches. I noticed that the guys were struggling a bit in training with their triggers when a striker took more than 1 touch to finish. The session was dedicated to getting them more looks at these moments!
    Hope you enjoyed it!

I always appreciate how honest and fluid you are in these sessions when something needs to change or you realize the keepers are having trouble preforming certain actions. You adjust to their strengths and don’t continue on forcing them to be inconsistent or uncomfortable. That’s a tool all coach’s need in the kit.

I like what you did, coach! Showing that we have to adapt to get the best of the session and the players development!!! Not many people show this!

My keeper coach from when I was young told me to keep my hands up to help catching. Is it better to keep it down out and to the side?

Quick question for the exercise at 3:00, would it not be better if he drops to the line?

Hey I would like to ask u a question I play as a Gk in India I play in a turf 5aside post , I always get beaten by cut backs also I get a feeling of conceding a goal if I’m not close to the far post , I don’t have any Gk coaches nor any ground to train so u have any solutions for me to get better . I conceded 4 or 5 goals when I played a tournament today and also would you pls recommend how to deal with power shots since I’m too weak in saving it

Great practice, thanks for the upload. Really enjoy your work.
I have one question. 5.15 min in the clip he goes out in a futsal block. In my opinion it's useless in football /soccer. 1. He can't react to the strikers movement. And the striker have 6 yards to the goal so it's a lot of space to move in. If this would be futsal, the striker shouldn't be this close and the shoot would come from 6 yards or closer. He wouldn't think of Dribbling the keeper. In soccer the keeper should go for the save with the hands. Not blocking, especially if the striker trys to dribble the keeper.

agreed. that’s something we’ve been working on with him. He has the tendency to rely heavily on that technique vs only using it when necessary. Just fine tuning the visual triggers 💪🏽

@@progkacademy I'm nearly 50 and when I was active as a keeper we always dive front with our hands to save /grip the ball. Now as a goalkeeper coach I have it difficult to se this technique 😂😜. I say, always go forward with your hands.
Attack the ball with your hands.
I'm grateful for your work on youtube 🙏. Keep it up 👍

@@74Walle i’m with you haha i was never taught this technique either. It was always “if you can’t get there with the hands, hold and wait for a big touch, and then stay big” It’s useful every now and again, but far too many are defaulting and it irks me 🤦🏽‍♂️
