This interview is one of the samples why our Abhi wont become the one in this domain! He just plays to the gallery making the whole interview go breezy by deviating from his ultimate path. To put things simply, if their roles were exchanged, I am sure Rangan would have carried this professionally and interestingly.

Director Mahendran - though he is not a professional critic, he criticized the way of tamil cinema in front of MGR. MGR liked that speech and brought him into cinema, that's how Mahendran sir became a director and he changed the way of tamil cinema with his movies like Mullum Malarum, Udhiri Pookal, etc...
The answer for your question "Critic who became a brilliant filmmaker", Mahendran was a fabulous Critic with thuglaq magazine before he became a path breaking filmmaker

Baradwaj rangan is one of my most favorite reviewers and he is the person who is actually 'reviews' movies other than people who pass judgements on a movie !

" I had a strange experience with “Pizza.” I decided, after seeing the trailer, that I would not watch the film, as it looked like a pei padam, and I just don’t do pei padam-s. Then a friend convinced me and said “it’s not a pei padam, it’s a Hitchcockian thriller” and all, and I said, “what the fa” and decided to see it. And the first half was all I could take. After screwing my eyes shit through the portions before the interval, I left. I screamed at my friend and said this was a pei padam, and what did he mean Hitchcockian thriller and shit. And he laughed and said I should have stuck on because apparently the second half is very different. 🙂 Anyway, haven’t mustered the enthu to see it again and see for myself what the second half is all about. But I love the soundtrack. “Raathiriyil” is a strong contender for Song of the Year for me. "

i dont think the question was about walking out of films that he was assigned to review...walking out is walking out..
godhead still he didn't walkout because it was bad (guess that was the question) but it wasn't his preferred genre
That was a wonderful interview; really enjoyed it. Liked Abishek’s pointed and different questions. And Baradwaj was his usual best - casual and engaged with all the right answers and details. Look forward to seeing more of these.

- some references given by the guest is not understandable ( affordable to my knowledge ) and not in my vocabulary. . like name of a person, movie or book. for instannce, dir. selvaraghavan interview la ayn rand's "FountainHead" apdinra name-a ketu thedi nondhu kadaisila epdiyo kandu pidichuten. i think i got from some comments below. so find a solution. . . u repeat that clearly. or if the interview is on a flow, post la antha spelling-a display pannunga.

Abhishek have no professionalism when it comes to interviewing a national award-winning critic, he keeps talking about his looks and sarcastically calling him out, try to respect people who are your seniors in the industry - such a shame!
