Abbado is the ONLY conductor who can read the mind of Beethoven and Mahler. I have listened to so many other performances with several famous conductors but none can match Abbado's interpretation. It seems that Abbado has the right intuition for Beethoven and Mahler! Bravo! Thanks for uploading!!
HMMMMM!!MR LUDWIG BEETHOVEN'S MUSIC COMPOSTIONS " ALWAYS" POWERFUL/ THUNDEROUS /DRAMATIC/ BEAUTIFUL/THE SENSES GET ENJOYED TO HIS MUSIC.MANY THANKS!THE LATE CLAUDIO ABBADO CONDUCTS SUPERBLY!!FROM( U.K.).
What sweet melancholy to see and hear the Maestro now that he is gone. As always, Claudio brings his perfected touch of melody, voicing, and power to his performance. Such a gifted and sweet human being.
Bravo! So superb! No conductor can possibly fill Maestro Abbad's shoes! And how incredibly missed he is. What a genius conductor and interpreter he was here and still is on the other side, I'm certain. We adore you Claudio!
Pablo Garcia Hello, Pablo ! Thank you for your appreciation. It is a pleasure for me to share the same opinion with you. Cristina (Bucharest- Roumania)
I love it when a conductor actually follows Beethoven's Metronome markings. Besides Abbado theirs Karajan (With ten times the orchestra) hits it on the mark. Both are exactly the expression that Beethoven wanted.
That’s one thing about Beethoven’s music that sets him apart from other composers, especially modern ones (4:02, 6:20): it doesn’t descend into dark, gloomy, morose trends, but ascends to brightness (7:52).
I really appreciate Abbado's interpretation of this wonderful piece. Unlike other conductors, Abbado is indicating to the musicians not to expand notes, so the performance seems a bit rushed. But it's absolutely perfect for Egmont overture, it extracts all the emotions. I think Beethoven would approve of this interpretation.
Arranged by Gustav Mahler, who didn't favor "dragging music out". I agree, it's sheer perfection! Maestro Abbado fully understood Mahler and more so than any other conductor in modern-day music, in my opinion. Claudio Abbado was, as was Mahler, magnificently brilliant. Rest in peace, Maestro Abbado. We still adore you!
I have listend to quite a few interpretations. Abbado is the master of making it even grander than it already is. Maybe, just maybe, a tack too fast for my taste, but very, very close to perfection.
Italy is a development country, what orchestras concern. Even with Abbado. Thats why he went to London, Vienna and Berlin when he hat to build a career.
I refuse to profane Beethoven in general and the Egmont overture in particular by listening to the Von Karajan recording. No former Nazi should be allowed to touch this piece. Viva Abbado!
Karajan was one of the greatest 20th c conductors until in later life he became obsessed with refinement which spoiled many performances. If you don't want to listen to any of this legendary recordings with the Philharmonia or V.P.O. that's your choice but it's also your loss.

Grazie Maestro.
How can you blame her ... it's simply a masterful and extraordinary execution!

Splendida esecuzione ma quale è l'orchestra?

Awesome piece and performance.
Amazing powerful
Claudio Abbado FOREVER.
Magnífico maestro Abbado.
I've watched around 30-35 videos of Egmont on RUclips this evening, and this is by far the most exhilarating!
Exactly!! 💞
I love it when a conductor actually follows Beethoven's Metronome markings. Besides Abbado theirs Karajan (With ten times the orchestra) hits it on the mark. Both are exactly the expression that Beethoven wanted.
Bravo!
Wonderful,I love so much maestro Claudio!
Wow excellent ensemble - very together and tight rhythmically
Abbado was one of the best conductors of all time !!!!!!!!!
Yes!!!!
@@madamzajj980 Agreed 100 Percent !!!!!
Yes!!!

Grande Abbado!!!
grande maestro ti ricordero per sempre
Izuzetno, bravo maestro!
Izuzetno je pročitati -Izuzetno-!!
My favourite recording so far. Love ya Abbado, love ya Beethoven. ❤
Great performance!
As close to perfection as any live ensemble performance gets.

such delicate touch, but also vibrant!

Abbado - Beethoven - Mozart (orch). what more could you ask for!!❤❤
Sublime
Bella obra
PERFECT
Flawless!❤❤❤
Abbado and Karajan have the best Egmont overture I know.
Si.Es asi.
Kurt Masur
Two words, Wilhelm Furtwangler!
Prefect ; strak en gedetailleerd 👍
I love the fact that Claudio always conducted like he was busting for a poo and wanted to get finished ASAP; the music is so much more dynamic.
Great version conducted by the Great Claudio. RIP Grande Maestro.
I have listend to quite a few interpretations. Abbado is the master of making it even grander than it already is. Maybe, just maybe, a tack too fast for my taste, but very, very close to perfection.
looking foreward to attend the concert in Amsterdam next september
Beethoven non doveva morire.
Brava ! (5'30")
Concertmaster Giuliano Carmignola!
I do wish the audience would let the last bars fade away before they start their clapping.
Italy is a development country, what orchestras concern. Even with Abbado. Thats why he went to London, Vienna and Berlin when he hat to build a career.

What's with those guys at the end throwing stuff from the balcony? Couldn't they get ejected from the theater for that?
