The only reason ppl did it is because its “fashionable” to go with the crowd, to try to make themselves seem more discriminating, intelligent etc by dissing certain episodes, but they only express their “safe” opinions by agreeing w the majority. This episode was important, and just as rewarding as any other…

I love that you like this episode. Everyone hates this episode except me I feel like. I love this episode. Eleven needed this encounter with her sister so that she would have an important choice to make. It also helped her train her strength a little bit better.

I like it too. It is different and it is a bit of an annoyance after the cliffhanger in the last episode. But the episode itself is fine and has great character development for Elle.
It doesn’t matter if you like it or not it objectively is a bad episode. ESPECIALLY considering what we learned in S4. Also they’re not sisters. There were no important decisions to make bc nothing in this episode has stayed with eleven nor the show

People absolutely hate on this episode, and I guess I understand it from the standpoint of not intercutting between the two groups or whatever, but I think it was very important for El's development, and I thought it was very interesting, so I don't understand why people are so determined to hate it. We got so much lore out of it and I thought it was really useful stuff.

I enjoyed this episode. She needed Kali to show her she wasn't alone in her powers, and to teach her a little bit about how to handle them. Using anger might not be a good idea, but it shows her she can use emotion to amp herself. El needed to learn a few things away from Hopper and Mike and now she has.

She didn’t really “need” any of that. She was fine on her own and learning things with her mom. 8 just made her even more conflicted with her personal issues. Also massive plot hole bc of what happened with 1 and the whole lab…also 90% sure we don’t even see this same 8 chick in S4
@trevorsmith572 I disagree. She learned how to focus her powers better using the ideas planted by Henry. It's going to come into play in season five. Henry helped Kali. Kali helped El. It's going to come.back and bite him.

I don’t get why people hate on this episode so much .for me it gave hella foreshadowing for season 3-4 .i don’t think people understood the importance of all the children who were experimented on , not just El.the placement I would say is perfect because she’s trying to understand her mother and such and in order for her to do that Khali needs to come into place to make it all happen .
I'm glad we got to see other kids that have supernatural abilities as El (besides Telekinesis & Telepathy)

I don't think this episode is the worst or out of the way. Because this shows 11 the contrast of how her powers could be used for bad even if there's a seemingly "valid" reason behind it. 11 got to know she did not want to kill innocents. Instead, she wants to save her friends from the real danger that is lurking in Hawkins and the guys who are doing it.
I think that one of the main reasons people didn't like this episode is because it completely zapped the life out of the cliffhanger to episode 6.
@@MFBloosh No more than any of the other cuts away to separate groups do in any episode of anything ever. Especially since we were all just binging anyways. This was just a slightly longer cut away from one plot line than the usual 10 mins or so.

This episode isn’t bad on its own. Aside from some plot threads that don’t get picked up, it works for what it needs to be: a power up episode for 11. One that sets her up as stronger, but still with room to grow and change.
However, where it sits in this season makes it feel worse than it is. Shit in Hawkins is going crazy, and you just want to see what’s happening there. Instead you have to sit through this episode to get to the “good” stuff.

Finally someone that appreciates this episode!! It got so much hate that so called “fans” took things too far, and harassed poor 12 year old Millie as if she was responsible for it! I remember the disgusting comments about her and the actress who plays Kali when this episode came out, and I never understood why!! Yes, is different and a little bit campy, but I love the introduction of 8, and an episode focusing on 11’s personal journey before she goes back to Hawkins. It would’ve been boring if Hopper would’ve just been “oh btw, I’m hiding 11.”
And also, I thought it was really cool that 8 had different powers. Makes you wonder more about 1, 2, 3, etc!
to be fair, this was a terrible way to try to shoehorn in a spinoff. a lot of series does it. and it didnt pay off, so we never saw them again

It was a great character arch but for one it’s great this wasn’t a weekly show that you had to wait a week to see the next episode leaving episode 6 like that and then ok so we are going to avoid the continuation of the crazy story going on and take this side quest and we will have you wait another week to find out what happened

I like Kali's gang. It's very much what you see in the real world. A big bulky black guy. A skinny white punk rocker. A loner black girl whose quiet until she needs to be. A little indian goth. You know, all the major players in every gang that Hollywood seems to forget exists.

I actually hope Kali comes back in the final season. I know there's a lot of discourse on the internet about her character because of plotholes, but I honestly don't mind any of it cuz she's wayyy too cool for everyone to just pretend she was never a part of the show🤷🏻♂️ I hope the writers found a way to tie her character back into the story one last time!

My only beef with your channel is you don't release videos frequently enough!!!! I'm not gonna lie, if I didn't love you like I do I would've unsubscribed by now! But I realise you have other priorities besides RUclips! A couple of shows I recommend you watch is The Last Kingdom and Vikings!!! I used to think Vikings was dope but JUST WAIT UNTIL YOU WATCH THE LAST KINGDOM! THE MUSIC IS LIKE THE MUSIC IN GLADIATOR!!!! I do not understand why people dislike this episode. I love it so much! I wish we had gotten the spinoff series they originally planned! I want to read fanfic and see promotional merch I love them so much! Also the vibes are SO indie 80s cult hit movie like literally impeccable. Why did it not happen we're in the bad timeline 😭😭

She's not on the casting list for season 5. There's was a reason for the episode if they had originally planned to do a spin off, but the episode did so poorly that the subplot has been abandoned

Maybe that’s why Kali showed El a butterfly..to hint at transformation. This was an important and rewarding episode, not deserving of the “bandwagon” of criticism it received. Instead of differing, valid critiques, ppl just say “it’s bad, it’s the worst episode, etc etc” and feel like it makes them seem more discriminating, intelligent etc when in reality they are just mouth breathers.
Not liking an episode doesn't make someone a mouth breather, Jesus. This isn't a bad episode but the placement for it was AWFUL. They set it up to fail imo, they left the previous episode on a huge cliffhanger just for the next episode to have nothing to do with the resolution

This episode was essential to her realizing that her true home is Hawkins, or rather with the people of Hawkins, meaning Hop, Joyce, etc, it showed her connection to her mother, to Kali, her aunt, her backstory and her mother’s story and how her mother was ruined by Brenner..so much necessary information, yet ppl throw it away..no critical thinking..
@@johncspine2787 i suppose, but there could be many other ways of doing that you know? but also, my argument isn't that the plot itself of the seventh episode is bad, but it is the pacing. like nobody wants a spin off episode right after the massive climax in the hospital if they sprinkled this episode in and among the others and wrote it to feel like it has more significance to not just mostly eleven's character arc, than it would be better on the rewatch.

This episode wrongly got a lot of hate from supposed fans. I believe this was going to be a sort of pilot for a show based on Kali but haters quashed that. As well as any others ST type shows. Congrats, so instead of having 2( or more ) Stanger Things shows to enjoy you guys got to wait YEARS between seasons for one. Remember Season 3 came out in 2019 and season 4 in 2022 and season 5 won't be out until 2025
Season 4 was delayed because of COVID. Even if a spin off had happened, it would have been delayed as well. Personally, I'm glad any idea of a spin off was quashed and that with subplot was buried. This storyline created plot holes (it also would have changed the end of season 4 in order to fix those plot holes) and didn't flow with the series. Plus, no information is gained that isn't addressed at some point elsewhere in the series.
@@steading2008 The new show would have been filming it's first season in 2018 or 2019. Season 4 didn't get started until early 2020 then got delayed until 2021
This was such a random bad episode (when compared to the rest of the show) They were trying to set up an xmen franchise, and I'm so happy the fans shut it down.
This episode is the only misstep in all four seasons. It is by far the worst episode in the so-called weak season...and it's still not that bad. I mean, it's not great, but it's not abysmal, but thankfully back to normal now.

Never realised this was a disliked episode. I think its a pretty decent one, especially compared to some of the poorly paced messiness of Season 4. Also, it gave us a break from that Nancy cabbage whining about dead Barb who had about 5-10 minutes of screen time and matters less than nothing in the grand scheme of things.

For me, this is the worst episode of the series. She takes off to Chicago and hooks up with a bunch of terrible, boring, one-off characters for some stupid reason. The skyline has buildings that didn't exist in the period (I grew up in Chicago, 1969 to 1995). It's absolute garbage.
