I've owned one of these for 7 and a half years now, I also drive with the window down as much as I can! I dread to think how much petrol I've used just to enjoy the exhaust note.
I bought mine in 2015 and know precisely what you mean!! True love does not come cheap. What a fabulous car though and its even more special these days.
U.S viewer here, Cheers man! Great video. Purchased my '08 .:R32 Back in April of 2021. ... Coming from a MK4 Jetta 12V VR6, this car is amazing. We only got the DSG in the states, limited to 5000 Production units imported, mine being #3323, so they are a bit rarer across the pond! Paid $10k for mine, and honestly, worth every penny. These cars will only get rarer as time goes on, and the history/specialty of these cars will never be replicated! Spring 2022 I will be doing some light, tasteful mods. Cannot wait! ... Thank you for the review!
Hey TerroS, appreciate thanks a lot! You’ve bought a great car, I really enjoyed driving the R32, just sounds awesome! DSG is still a good option, very responsive gearbox. Definitely a car that will go up in value and in history. Hope you enjoy the car and appreciate you watching! 🙌🏼
Hey, the fact that you’ve got a manual, it will be even more desirable! I honestly love this generation R32 - best example. Appreciate the compliment! 😊
Good video Bobby, I actually had never driven an R32 until a few weeks back as part of my job. It was only a short drive, but I was very impressed, especially by how free revving it was. I was looking at one to replace my Civic Type R, but the ones in budget were high mileage, plus I wanted something turbocharged so I could get it tuned.
Hey, thanks man appreciate it! I totally love this car and you’re right, it Revs so freely and it does have a beautiful sound with that Milltek exhaust. You can put a turbo on these or even a supercharger. But I do love the Type R too! 🙌🏼
I have a 2007 4 door R32 ( 6 speed auto/triptronic/paddle shift ) I am older than the car! But love it, maybe not the quickest but that sound compensates for all of that and the all wheel drive gives great road holding. Drive along narrow walled road sound even amplifies!!!
After pining for a MK4 R32 for years, grabbed a MK5 R32 in reflex silver - no regrets. It drives amazing and the nicer handling over the MK4 helps to forget the "less sharp" appearance of the MK5. Can't forget that this is the last VR6 Golf!!!
Hey, both the mk4 and mk5 R32 are amazing, so I wouldn’t complain either! Mk5 looks nice in silver, blends in with the grill. You’re right as well, this is the last of the proper NA tune v6!
Love the vw golf, i owned the original mk1 golf GTI, 30 years ago, ive owned numerous hot hatches, RS1600I'S, Renault 5GT turbo, two astra GTE's, im 57 now so im looking for a gentleman's hot hatch, and the mk5 R32 golf is my next car, in that lovely blue colour ✌🏽😎
You’ve clearly had good experiences with the hot hatches! But the Mk1 GTI - wow 😍 great choice with the R32 as it’s an all rounder, reliable and powerful and just looks awesome in that blue! Thanks for watching 😊
Nice review Bobby. I’ve driven a GTi in the Mk5, even that was a quick car, would love to get my hands in one of these. I’ve always been a fan of the MK4 25th anniversary edition myself Agreed with the Mk2, best golf in the oak green 😙
Thank you! Ooh the 25th anniversary edition is very nice! But this R32 is a special car, it just feels different to others. Glad you share the same opinion on the Mk2 - good taste 😉 Thanks for watching 🙌🏼
i have the exact car, had it for 2 years never bore of it love driving it, yes not cheap to run but you dont own one of these for economy you own one of these coz they're a awesome bit of kit.....life is too short to drive a boring car!!!!
Sadly I had to sell my 2006 R32 this week...😢 Fuel prices are starting to be at the level around here that I can no longer keep a car like this. I will miss this car. It probably ain't the fastest car out there.., but it's soundtrack with Milltek Non Resonated exhaust brought smile to my face every time I started it or push the pedal to the metal...😎
Sorry to hear the bad news bro, great cars are hard to let go off! I agree with you, it’s not the fastest car out there but it surely makes you smile! And that Milltek exhaust transforms the sound! Thanks for watching 😊
Great video cheers, on my 6th golf mk7 gtd had mk2 16v gti and a Corrado vr6 years ago ,always fancied one of these but mad money even high mileage ones recon I'm going to sell my diesel want a bit of fun what does it do to a gallon on a run. Cheers Chris
Hey Chris, thanks for watching my video! Wow you’ve had a lot of golfs. A good quality Corrado is like gold dust! Great car. I think it was getting around 26mpg, not bad when you’re cruising, but quite juicy when you put your foot down!
Bro you skipped the most iconic one the mk3 vr6. That’s the one that set of the big power leagues haha. R32 is a fantastic car, I owned one for years lovely drive.
Hi James, I know what a plank I am 😂 The mk3 VR6 was a big step up and also the Corrado VR6 - loved them both and can’t believe I forgot to mention it! Thanks for watching 😊
love the mk5's I still have one and will keep it for another 8 to 10 years, but on this video, what happend to the location of the steering wheel, one moment you were talking about a right hand drive car, then when you were driving it the steering wheel was on the left? :)
Have had 3 mk2 GTis, 1 mk3 anni which didn't di it for me, sold it after 6 months, Corrado vr6 which was sweet but after 10 years it was becoming a money pit to keep going. A mk4 anniversary which was a dog of a car, spent a fortune trying to get it right. Have had my r32 mk5 for 3 years now and I love it DSG, 5 door, miltek, had it resprayed as grey was kind if faded over the years so has a nice modern grey with plenty of Sparkle in it. Not the fastest but who vares when it sounds the way it does, too nice for a daily so it's a 2nd car for me and it doesn't get out to play much in the winter months. Air con compressor is situated in a silly place so if buying one check the air con works or it's costly to fix. Due to recent hot weather I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get it sorted soon even living in Costa del Scotland. Great review by the way.
It makes the best NA sound of all era but it is all fart no poop, the R32 is a nice V6 hatchback, I just drool over the sound but prefer the performance of my e86 also from the same era.
You’re right, sounds lovely but could do a with a little more power. Can be easily tuned, a lot of potential with these engines. Milltek exhaust makes it come alive! Thanks for watching 😊
Missed loads of engines on the mk4. 20v turbo, vr5 150/170, v6 4motion 2.8 204bhp not alot of difference between 4mo/r32, mk3 deserves more prasie, anni gti/16v and vr6 awesome car owned loads
There is a lot of difference between the v6 4 motion and R32, completely re worked suspension, different gearbox, different engine, different steering rack, different brakes. Interior is not the same

Thats not the same car. Has anyone else noticed something in this car review? Whilst he was doing the interior inspection he was sitting on the right hand side (UK), when he started the drive test, he was sitting on the opposite side, clearly they're not the same cars.
Lol you must be a detective 🕵🏼♂️ 😂 this is the same car. It happens when I’m driving because I switch the camera around so I can see myself whilst I drive 🤦🏻♂️ therefore it creates a mirror image. If I had a LHD and a RHD, I would’ve compared them to each other don’t you think??
I test drove one new (and the GTI) in 2009 but couldn't justify the price (in Australia). Couldn't buy the GTI knowing the R32 exists. Finally bought it in 2015 and love it. 6sp, 5dr, sunroof, clean as, 134k kms, Forge intake, decent exhaust. Awesome. Do a few track days as well. ruclips.net/video/SPLw7fjl2zQ/видео.html ruclips.net/video/A4GkvVdhZEM/видео.html
First of all, thanks for watching all the way from Australia! 😂 glad you bought one in the end, brilliant car and I just watched your video - car sounds mental!
Sorry I must disagree with you, the 2004 MK4 R32 is the original R and the best, two doors and six on the floor and no nannies to hold you back. It's just you and your R. Owned one wish I still had mine 😢
Think the edition 30 looks better and cheaper to run ,,,also the front of the gti looks better and the wheels on the edition 30,,, r32 nice car but edition 30 just my preference,,,,,

The mk4 did come with a 2 litre non turbo but nobody cared about that. They also had a 1.8 turbo with 150 and 180bhp
