    Lovely area. Pista is way. Maybe consider turning your marshy area into a pond, it’s an easy way to introduce bio diversity. Stocking it with fresh water fish could be a way to self substance, if you like fish. So much potential, buena sûreté.

      Hebben jullie de huisjes verzekerd? Is dat verplicht, of hoef het niet als je geen lening hebt? ( wat betalen jullie per jaar als het wel is verzekerd)

    Delightful to see you again kindhearted's ❤️
    I'm HELLA amazed by your spirit, spunky as always. I wonder if you were inspired by some of the places you trekked to because before you even mentioned it, I knew you're intending to grow a few plants around and also a guest house like where we met.
    I just looooove the place, truly startled....away and faaar away from the world's drama. Nature's good but the only tricky part, you will definitely need a powerful signal and potent internet connection if you're planning to work online in the future. Nonetheless, it wouldn't feel much like working in an area as such lol gropes like vacational.
    I've got two questions,
    How you found it the first time?
    How far is it to the nearest town or city?
    Ale', Werner, don't do it hastily, enjoy the process, just stay tight and serene. Wishing you everything beautiful and a glamorous life ahead 😊

      Hey Khalil, thank you so much for your sweet message. We love the place and can't wait to get started with all the works. You're absolutely right that we'll need to set up a lot of things to live there comfortably, but we're happy to slowly build up our lives there in the upcoming years. We knew we wanted to live in Spain and have searched for a really long time to find the right area that gave us a good 'feel'. Over the last 1.5 years we narrowed down our search from a very big area in the north of Spain to this valley and when we knew we wanted to live in this valley, we looked at every piece of land that was available for sale there. When we visited this place we knew instantly that this was the place for us. The nearest village is 15min by car. The village has a couple of bars, a small supermarket and the municipality hall. 20min away is a bigger town and we're 45min away from a city that has everything we need (supermarkets, trainstation, airport etc.). Hopefully we can welcome you there one day. Lots of hugs, Ale and Warner

      The whole thing is really exciting and more importantly, it is worth it. I mean the spot you've chosen, that's gonna be one of your best life decisions ever made.
      I'm super glad you found what you have been looking for. I'd be lucky to visit you there one day, and of course, still waiting your second visit to Algeria 🇩🇿 so Oran you said right 😊🌹

    Undertaking such an ambitious project is brave and inspiring. I can only imagine some of the emotions. My partner and I have been thinking of starting a similar journey in the future and the North of Spain keeps growing on us. We need to explore the regions as you did. Looking forward to the seeing the progress and hear your experiences.
    ""Poquito a poco" or as you gracefully translated, slowly by slowly 😄

    You should make some sort of swimming pont in the first field. Amfibiens and you could both use it to swim. And in the summer it could be a great extra water sourch. Plus there are some amazing herbs that like wet feet

    • @WaleandMe
      @WaleandMe  Год назад

      That's a great idea! Thank you! We have already planned for a pond on the other side of our land, but having another one (or more) wouldn't be bad. We'll look into it.

    You need to treat the brambles with a systemic weedkiller. I know you will have scruples about this but if you do it once you can more easily keep it under control (back plastic sheeting ). Will you need to dig down the ground at the sides to create a damp-proof at internal ground level?

    So no mains electricity, no mains sewage, no fixed line internet, no mains water supply. You seem to have plenty of water but personally I’d feel miss not having mains electric even if just as a back up to solar.
    I’d convert a building into a workshop large enough to double up as a garage to protect a vehicle from the elements.
    Good luck, you have the positive attitude that’s needed

    I hope you realize what you are taking on, its nice to dream but you will come upon so many rules and regulations its not real, conservationists, though good for some things are making things hell in rural Spain, I wanted to put bigger windows in mine but was not allowed, 30 years on I'm still not completely finished, you need to rest regularly or you will burn yourself out like I did. I'm in Galicia, just along the road to the west. It will cost a fortune for not just the paperwork not to mention the registered aquatics and builders. Mine has cost me over double what a completely new house would have cost and I'm still paying at 66.
    Just for your information I was shown documentation to prove why the trees were cut down all over northern Spain and it was to help build the Spanish armada

    • @WaleandMe
      @WaleandMe  Год назад +2

      Yes, and as time passes we are becoming even more realistic with our expectations. But we're choosing to see this as a project for life and focusing on the journey more than the destination. Hopefully that makes it all worth it ☺

      The forests in the valley of the Miera River were cut down to make charcoal, as well as being used to build ships. The charcoal was used in the royal cannon factory located in the villages of Lierganes and La Cavada. The factory was created by the Belgian Jean Curtius.
