I think it takes longer than a couple months for the fuel to go bad. Registered October, you have it a couple months later. I'm sure the fuel will be fine. Sometimes when I leave my scooter for a while it can be hard to start. Give it a rev and away it goes. My CB500X goes a bit longer between uses (6 months) and can start right up. Right now because of other reasons I have removed the battery. I don't doubt it will just fire up.
Thanks man! I think the clutch issue resolved in the part 2 video helped a lot. It was causing extra stress on the motor while idling, especially when the rear wheel was on the ground. Nice! Ive got a CM450c im working on as well. I'm pretty new to bikes so it definitely been a learning experience so far. Thanks for tuning in and commenting!
I just picked up an '86 for $1,000. I'm really excited to get going with the restorations and so I plan on watching through this series for some pointers. Mine definitely needs more work than yours but the engine feels nice and strong but is dirty as hell including the carb which is where I'll be starting after I get it back with new tires on it.
Nice pickup! hopefully these videos help you along the way. If you have the means, I suggest purchasing a chemical dip like "Chem dip" and fully take the carb apart. dip every components and replace all the gaskets, take your time. That should really help if the carb is super gummed up. Or look at a replacement carb online, my buddy is running one on his and it works great! Goodluck with your project!
Heck yeah, do it!! Thanks for the feedback on the different content. I love working and making videos on the ae86 but it can definitely get repetitive. Thanks for tuning in and goodluck with your ae86 👍
Thanks for the kind words and supporting the channel! I keep telling my self to be patient. I'm hoping one day the algorithm will show the channel some love! But it's all good, as long as people enjoy the videos I'll keep posting :D Thanks again for your support!
@@TheBSRecord I will I guess my main question is did you have any missing hardware mounting for mounting the cowls my helix and if so where did you find replacement hardware if you remember also mine is missing the belt and clutch housing yours has and I’m looking to see the bolt sizes since I got a replacement lol
I'm guessing $200-500? About to pick one up, same year for $500 with supposedly nose/front/plastic damage only & drives straight. Just googled helix repair & clicked on this, thanks in advance I hope! Edit: Just watched the rest of the vid & thank you, going to double check the front wheel on the Helix since that was the collision site on it. Are you having to cut or trim down those plastics? Curious how much detail is involved with putting the plastics back on the frame.
Dude, what was the problem with the „cold getting on throttle ne it shuts down“? I have the same problem and I can’t figure it out. Whether it’s the carb or something else.
If I remember correctly, it was a mixture of 2 things. The bike just needed to warm up a bit before giving it throttle. Also, since the clutch nut had separated, the clutch was always trying to drive the rear wheel, leading to too much stress on a cold engine. Additional throttle would cause it to bog out. At least, that was my thought haha. Hope this helps!
Nice! Yeah this is a little side project, the ae86 is still the main one in the garage. I can't pick up another big project until the corolla is done! Thanks for watching!!
I got the kit from a website called webike(dot)jp. Look up the Honda Fusion and that will get you to a parts catalog for the Helix (fusion in japan). I ordered the kit way before the shipping crisis, so I'm not sure how much shipping would be for it today.
Sorry for the late reply. I got the plastics from webike japan. Look them up on google and search for the honda fusion/spazio/helix section. Thanks for watching!
How bad is the crack? I would say go for it! its already cracked so you cant make it much worse, right? Just be sure to take your time and don't rush anything. Plan the repair and execute it step by step. Let me kee if you have any questions and goodluck!
I can say for certain that I got my Helix back up and running legally for much less than $1,000. It definitely can be done for a good price when comparing it to running and driving examples. I definitely understand where you are coming from though, but the damage on this one was well worth the repair. Thanks for tuning in and commenting!
I paid $1500 for my '93 with 30k miles on it, it had a new battery and carb, and I think it was worth every penny. $225 though, what a steal!
Got my 2006 with 13,000 miles on it for $1,300. I love it! It's got 17,000 on it now.
Nice, they are great bikes!
Dude, you won the lottery on a time machine.
Of course it started right up, its a Honda LOL,,,,this scooter is super fun and smooth, its like riding a majic carpet
Agreed, nothing quite like a honda!

Hey love your videos great work you did on the helix . Appreciate the feed back on the 10 hour ride site unseen 👌
Definitely got a new subscriber
That moment that the seat alone is worth what you paid for the whole bike 😁
Yeah buddy! I was super pumped with the price lol

Change the transmission belts on time with all these scooters
Thanks for the suggestion. The transmission belts are changed during the normal wear intervals :D
bro may I ask where did you get the body kit? can you give me a link?? thank you bro.. you have a safe ride

Honestly I am not sure how much it would cost to send there! They can be quite expensive but if you keep looking you may find one for cheap.
Can you share where you got the plastics kit?

to get that some what respectable your dumping another 1K into it. plus salvage title..better off just buying a nice used one for 1,500

Hola qué tal alguien que pueda pasarme el manual de taller de la Helix? Saludos desde guadalajara Mexico
Hola, el manual de Helix está en la página de Facebook de Honda Helix Scooters.
Damn i was off by 80$ :p
I was gonna say that you get it for 300
So close, everyone is getting pretty close 🤣 thanks again for watching!
Hopefully not a bent axle. That wheel is pretty stout.
It ended up being a bent rim. All is good now!
Haha looks like it was layed down on both sides?!?!
Yeah I think so! I think it also hit something head on as well. Luckily most of the damage was only cosmetic!
where is a good place to buy the body panels?
A Honda Helix?
