My mom made me watch this because I recently got this keyboard, and I am just a kid, so I thought the technology in this was a little above my knowledge, so this video helps me a lot. Thank you! 😃

I made a Basic layer out of one of the piano sounds and a pad sound, but when I play them together some of the piano sound cuts out especially if I use the hold (sustain) pedal. It's as if this keyboard doesn't have enough polyphony? Can you make a video explaining what to do about this? I have the Roland Fantom 08. Thanks for any help you can give.

Along with the volume, is it possible to pan each zone?

Ed please confirm this user scenario. Are the zone select buttons supposed to silence a zone when off? Mine don’t. Can volume sliders be used to bring in and out instrument sounds with all zones on? How about with an organ included? What mode should you use for live playing? Scene? Or zone view? I prefer zone view but any Push of an instrument button changes it. Maybe I should lock zones? Ideas appreciated?

Can each selected sound's octave be adjusted and saved to that sound/tone without affecting the other selected sounds/tones?

Great video as always, but can I load my preset sound’s from my fantom-06 to the newer 06, including my samples. In my current older 06, I have created patches and samples, it has an sd card, can I insert the sd card into the newer 06? Thanks Neil

My Fantom zone select switch doesn't function like yours. I have to turn all the layers off before it will play (solo) only one zone????

Me too. My zone select is intermittent. It doesn’t silent sounds on a zone when off. I’m trying to swap sounds in and out by using volume sliders but getting anomalous behavior. Any ideas? Or I tried turning sounds off and on using the zone select buttons but that doesn’t work consistently. I’m wondering if I made the wrong keyboard choice.

So those faders are dual purpose?? U can use them as drawbars for tone wheel organ and volume faders for layers? Also how many layers can you have? And if there is 8 faders how do u control volume for the remaining sounds if u have, let’s say more than 8 layers? Sorry for all the questions thank you in advance

Watch Ed's video on Layering. There's actually 16 faders. You select by the buttons at the top.

hello, I recently bought this workstation, opened it, plugged it in, I press the keys in an attempt to play something on the piano, but there is no sound, maybe I didn’t buy something, maybe I need to buy a sound card or I need to configure something, Tell me please

There's no built-in sound. You need headphones or a speaker/amp.
As for software, you can download additional sounds, especially with the latests updates which includes 4 expansion packs.

On a side note, although the Fantom has a huge list of guitar sounds, the ones for Acoustic steel-string Guitar come up short. They just don't sound like a guitar. There's a 'trick' to it. Notice the 2 active sliders to the left. The 1st one sounds like a piano and the 2nd one has the guitar sound, so turn down the 1st slider. Not sure why Roland does this. On another note, the sound labeled "Mandolin" (which doesn't sound like a Mandolin) has a GREAT Banjo sound when you turn down the 1st slider.

Any tips on improving basic piano sounds? They are rather lacking to me. Keep going back to my keyscape sounds. There’s no comparison unless I’m doing something incorrectly

@@dmas81 I'm a bit fussy about digital piano sounds myself. I have a 10 year old Yamaha MOX8, a P-125, Fantom, and a Kawai SP-11SE. I also had for a short time a Nord Stage 3. Out of these, the Kawai has the warmest smoothest acoustic piano sound, followed by either of the two Yamahas, (the cheapo P-125 sounds pretty darn great through it's built-in sound system. Don't let the low price fool you).
Now you don't get all the bells and whistles with the Kawai (limited "other" sounds although what it does have sound great, no touch screen, no bluetooth/wifi, etc.) but it does do 'Piano' very well, if that is what you want/need. It's also very heavy, built like a tank. Not ideal for gigging.
From what I've heard and seen, the Montage does everything well. Yamaha's sound engines are hard to beat, but I can't even try one because of the chip shortage. They've been backordered since last year. But I got my MP11SE for when I only want a piano sound.

Man, Keyscape is where it’s at for me. Bet pianos I’ve ever heard. I was just hoping for something respectable out of the fantom. I too have the MO8 and it’s got respectable piano sounds.
