This is so fucking mean. The levelling dust never sounded more crushing. Mortuus is truly one of the most amazing extreme metal vocalists there is. His throat-work, goddamnit, it hits so fucking many notes at once, it sounds just otherworldly! It's rattling, mourning and terrifying, its shrieking, its disgusting like he's fucking vomiting and yet so dynamic, all at once.
Yeah, Mortuus is rock solid live. I absolutely love how he sounds essentially the same from stage to studio. That's true talent. I haven't seen Legion, but I'd like to add Emperor Magnus Caligula as someone who consistently gave great shows. His live vocals do not disappoint, and doesn't sound far off from his studio work.
Nem rath You have enlightened me on something I should have known. I only started following Hypocrisy when Tagtgren came on board. Now I'm going back to the oldies, thank you kindly.
Disappointing how after all these years they still only ever play Slay the Nazarene from NIGHTWING.That album is a personal favorite of mine and i really wish they would play some of the other songs.
Man these guys are so much more dynamic and interesting than the dozens of other BM bands I've slogged through lately ie Watain (cool concept but a bit pretentious and man they're boring live). Marduk still have that old skool first wave vibe plus a massive punch in the back of the head Grindcore style. Morgan throws a refreshing cheeky noodle once in a while instead of say, the tedious dull solos of Behemoth (among some others), it's playfully just enough. These guys are tight as hell playing live too. The rhythm section is goddamn fantastic - love the death/grind crashes. Bit o grind, punk, death, doom, thrash jazz and on and on. Mortuus's pipes are right there with it. This is anything but one dimensional and boring. Thx for the upload. What a great show ^^ Cheers.
I agree with much of what you're saying but I too am confused about why you would say Watain is boring live. That's like saying "Stephen Hawking was pretty smart but I think his weak point was physics" or "Mike Tyson was an good boxer but he didn't have much of a right hook". Those are some defining characteristics of their excellence, and I would say the same goes for Watain's live shows. Personally I wish they more often played small and crowded clubs to cram that utterly mad and violent intensity that you never get when a band is playing at a huge stage behind a fence 15ft from the crowd, but even then Watain is doing better at their worst than most bands can hope to do at their peaks. I guess one might find Watain boring live if what one is looking for is something like a GG Allin gig where there is a lot of involvement with the audience and where the music almost plays second fiddle to the physical behavior taking over as the primary medium for the anti-social spirit of the band (I would honestly appreciate some more of that from Watain too at times). But the idea at Watain's shows is pretty obviously to manifest the spirit of the songs in more of a visual and larger-than-life way that engages the audience in something like a spiritual experience of being greater than everything mundane and simultaneously being in the pressence of something far greater still. Whatever one thinks of it, it is meant to be a part of serious left-hand-pathish religious practice, and I can understand if it leaves a non-practitioner unmoved-just like I'm not really moved by, say, a Christian mass-but understanding what it is that Watain are doing should at least help one appreciate the fact that they are doing it exceptionally well.

I've seen them live multiple times with Legion and Mortuus. I don't know if i was just more "into" this music back in the late 90s/early 00s or what it is, but Legion just had something, a stage presence or something that put him above Mortuus. I mean, his vocals are strong and all but it seems Legion captured the feel of the band more I guess. Anywho, I prefer Legion but I'll listen to either...
Dim Kras you say that but there’s actually a lot of technique that goes into it. If an average dude attempted this he’d be out of breath by the 1st chorus of the 1st song, but to have enough stamina to last a 15 song setlist every night for 7 months straight on the road is a whole different ball-game - the voice is an instrument in itself.
@@Finn-gx6ir I do not disagree but I saw them live in Amsterdam last year. Was not impressed with his vocals and overall posture. Just my humble opinion.

yes, he is BY FAR the best live vocalist i've seen live, in the black metal Community that is. I've seen Legion aswell(really awesome btw)

This live show is incredible, not only did the band performed amazingly that night, but the audio is more than decent!

Just awesome
The Panzer Division lineup was the best.
Wrong. Plagueangel line-up is the right answer :)
Ravnkel No, on Plague Angel, Legion was already gone.
+PugnaciousBadger Ye, that is exactly what makes it better
Ravnkel Nope. They haven't produced anything noteworthy since the 90s.
I enjoy all Marduuk's line ups, past and present \m/
Buen set list, aunque la imagen no es de las mejores.... grande Marduk \m/

This singer does not have the same vocal potency than Legion had.
+Profanator SS Why legion sucks?
This singer has a much more powerful voice than Legion ever had.

why doesnt the vocalist also play guitar? He is not earning his bread. Anyone can just scream
