It's actually not called gatari. Gatari is the last day (amavasya day). The meat feasting period is called akhaad. Restaurant naming the event gatari fest is their prerogative.

It's " Gata-Hari" not GATARI.. the wrong pronunciation has spread across and got a bad name to it... The purpose of following vegetarian food during Shravan is for eating right food as immune system is weakest in monsoon (due to no sunlight) also it's a breeding season of entire ecosystem (fish, animals etc) hope will all spread right information and spread the importance of following our rituals

I used to like this place. But now I hate it. Why? Because I realised they really don't care about customers. The last time I went there, they had upped the prices like anything. If just a glass of solkadi can cost Rs.75, just imagine how much they'll be charging for a pomfret thali? I leave it to your imagination. I had the pomfret thali, despite it's high price thinking, "Now where in hell do I go out there and find a cheaper place?" So I ordered the thaali and when it came, I saw that the solkadi 'vaati' was so tiny I downed it in one tiny gulp. But no, nobody came to refill it (I know of at least two places in Mumbai where they refill without asking) I had asked for chappatis in the thaali, and they served me two thin ones. Then, instead of rice, I asked them how many chappatis could I get. Their answer? ONE! I told them, c'mon you charge so high for the thaali, couldn't you offer at least two chappatis in place of the rice? They said, sorry, it's a rule decided by the management. So I told them to tell their management that they've just lost a customer because of their stupid rule. They just shrugged. I walked out swearing never to visit again. That's Nav Mezwani for you! Visit the place only if you have money to burn.
